I can’t begin to explain my disappointment and frustration with this place. We had taken our dogs here in the past and had decent experiences until this past week. We have been given misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis all week leading to us being told that we needed to go to an emergency vet in Austin on the weekend (making it more expensive) where the other vet got the diagnosis right and got him in to surgery. Ultimately, it’s not the money I’m the angriest about. It’s the ineptitude and terrible communication that ultimately resulted in my dog suffering for a week. NEVER and I mean NEVER trust these people with your family member. This dog was there for every step as my sister battled cancer I will never trust a dog with them ever again. Update: He is now in Austin receiving a surgery that could have happened much earlier this week if not for the lack of awareness of this office. FOUR visits and TWO sets of X-Rays and we didn’t hear about the full obstruction in his intestine until the fourth appointment. This could have been addressed on the second appointment but it has now proceeded to the point where his chance of survival is low due to the damage the foreign object has caused to his insides during that time of misdiagnosis. Update 2: He passed. The foreign object wasn’t caught by y’all in time and had caused too much damage.

Welcome to Bastrop Veterinary Hospital

Welcome to an introduction of Bastrop Veterinary Hospital, a Pet Hospital located at 2900 State Hwy 95, Bastrop, TX 78602, USA. Serving the local community, Bastrop Veterinary Hospital aims to provide veterinary care for pets. To help local users understand what to expect, we have compiled information based on publicly available customer reviews.

It's important to note that the reviews for Bastrop Veterinary Hospital present a mixed picture of customer experiences. One pet owner expressed extreme disappointment and frustration. They recounted a series of misdiagnoses over a week, which ultimately led to a recommendation to seek emergency veterinary care in Austin. According to this reviewer, the delay in accurate diagnosis, despite multiple visits and two sets of X-rays, resulted in their dog undergoing surgery for a full intestinal obstruction much later than it could have been addressed. Tragically, the reviewer later updated that their dog passed away due to the damage caused by the foreign object that was not identified in time by Bastrop Veterinary Hospital. This customer strongly advised against entrusting them with the care of a pet, emphasizing the "ineptitude and terrible communication" they experienced.

In contrast, another customer shared a highly positive experience following their first visit. This reviewer, who identified as a vet tech with over 20 years of experience, stated that they had very high standards for a veterinary clinic and were "beyond impressed." They described the office as "updated and very clean," and the staff as "super friendly & efficient." They also praised Dr. Burghardt as "very nice, professional & easy to talk to." This reviewer appreciated not feeling pressured into unnecessary tests, which they noted is a common issue in some veterinary practices. Overall, their experience was described as "great," and they offered a strong recommendation.

Considering these contrasting viewpoints, it's challenging to definitively characterize the environment, services, and features of Bastrop Veterinary Hospital without further information. However, we can glean some insights from the positive review. The mention of an "updated and very clean" office suggests that the physical environment of the Pet Hospital is likely modern and well-maintained, which can contribute to a more comfortable experience for both pets and their owners.

Based on the limited information, it's difficult to create a comprehensive list of services. However, the fact that the first reviewer's dog required X-rays indicates that Bastrop Veterinary Hospital likely offers diagnostic imaging services. The second reviewer's positive experience with a general check-up suggests that routine wellness examinations are also part of their offerings. Given that one case involved an intestinal obstruction requiring surgery (albeit performed elsewhere after a delayed diagnosis), it is plausible that Bastrop Veterinary Hospital may offer some level of surgical consultation or potentially perform certain surgical procedures, although this is not explicitly confirmed in the provided text. Typical services expected from a Pet Hospital might include:

  • General check-ups and vaccinations
  • Diagnostic services (like X-rays)
  • Treatment of illnesses and injuries
  • Possibly surgical consultations or procedures
  • Dental care
  • Parasite prevention

To obtain a complete list of services, it would be best to contact Bastrop Veterinary Hospital directly at (512) 321-5386 or +1 512-321-5386.

In terms of features, the positive review highlights a friendly and efficient staff, a clean and updated facility, and a veterinarian (Dr. Burghardt) who is perceived as professional, approachable, and not inclined to recommend unnecessary tests. These aspects could be considered positive features of Bastrop Veterinary Hospital. However, the negative review raises serious concerns about diagnostic accuracy and communication, which would be critical factors for pet owners to consider.

There is no promotional information available in the provided text. Therefore, we cannot comment on any current specials or offers that Bastrop Veterinary Hospital might have.

In summary, the customer reviews for Bastrop Veterinary Hospital present a dichotomy of experiences. One reviewer was highly satisfied with the clean environment, friendly staff, and the approach of Dr. Burghardt. Conversely, another experienced significant issues with diagnosis and communication, leading to a tragic outcome for their pet. Potential local users should weigh these perspectives when considering Bastrop Veterinary Hospital for their pet care needs. It may be beneficial to contact the hospital directly to inquire about their services, environment, and to address any concerns based on the feedback provided. As there is no further objective information available, a balanced perspective acknowledges both the positive aspects highlighted by one reviewer and the serious concerns raised by another.

I was beyond impressed after my first visit there. I was a vet tech for 20+ years and have very high standards for what I hope to find from a vet clinic. The office was updated and very clean, the staff was super friendly & efficient and Dr. Burghardt was very nice, professional & easy to talk to. I didn't feel like I was being sold unnecessary or extra tests etc., as is unfortunately common in many veterinary practices. Great experience! Highly recommended! Perry says "thank you"!! 🐾🐾

I wish I could give less than 1 star. I've used this location since 2008 for my pets. It used to be a reliable clinic, but front desk service in the last 5 years has really gone down hill. If you have more than one pet, they are constantly confusing pets with basic medical appointments. You seldom ever see the same technician or M.D. twice in a row as they have a extremely high turn around rate in staffing leading to lackluster service. I took my female boxer in for a tooth extraction "per the vet's recommendation " and asked them to spay her afterwards as she was already under anesthesia. A technician called to inform me that the tooth was actually in great shape however, the spay had already began. Heavenly Angel's will spay a large dog for $165. Bastrop Veterinary Hospital charged me $835.00!!! After all of this, my dog sat in a kennel for 1 1/2 hrs unnecessarily because they called a number for pickup that I had repeatedly instructed them to remove. DON'T GO HERE!!! Go to La Grange guys.

My 3 active dogs Dancer 13, Georgia 2, and little Sandy 7 weeks getting lifelong care at Bastrop Vet Hospital! Old Duke at 19 years died there in my lap. Love all the vets we've had there over the years!

THE best vet clinic I’ve ever used! From snake bites, to annual visits, “Daisy May Duck Dog Dugey” loved all at BVH and was the most loving place to have her euthanized. I am forever grateful!
