Services: Comprehensive Medical, Surgical, and Dental Care

Barre Animal Hospital offers a broad spectrum of veterinary services, encompassing preventative care, advanced diagnostics, surgical procedures, and dental health, all designed to ensure the well-being and longevity of companion animals. Their commitment to staying current with veterinary advancements allows them to provide modern and effective treatments.

  • Wellness and Preventative Care: This forms the cornerstone of their practice. Services include routine physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols to protect against common diseases, comprehensive parasite control programs (covering heartworm, fleas, and ticks), and microchipping for permanent identification and increased chances of reunion if a pet is lost. They also provide valuable nutritional counseling to help owners manage their pets' weight and overall health.

  • Diagnostic Services: The hospital is equipped with in-house laboratory capabilities for rapid and accurate blood work, urinalysis, fecal analysis, and other essential tests. For more detailed insights, they utilize advanced imaging technologies such as **digital radiography (X-ray)**, allowing for precise diagnosis of bone conditions, foreign bodies (like the 3-inch piece of grass found in a cat's nose, as per a review), and internal organ issues. They can also perform ultrasounds for soft tissue evaluations and pregnancy diagnosis.

  • Surgical Procedures: Barre Animal Hospital performs a wide range of surgical interventions. This includes routine procedures such as spays and neuters, soft tissue surgeries (e.g., tumor removals, hernia repairs), and even more complex orthopedic procedures, as evidenced by a client mentioning, "He put one dog's leg back together." They prioritize patient safety through pre-surgical blood work, appropriate anesthesia, and post-operative pain management.

  • Dental Care: Oral health is crucial for a pet's overall well-being. Barre Animal Hospital provides comprehensive dental services, including dental exams, professional cleanings (scaling and polishing), and extractions when necessary, addressing issues like periodontal disease and preventing systemic health problems.

  • Exotic Pet Care: A notable specialization of Barre Animal Hospital is their ability to provide care for a variety of exotic pets. This includes birds, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, rats, chinchillas, hedgehogs, bearded dragons, snakes, geckos, sugar gliders, and even fish. This broad expertise makes them a valuable resource for owners of less common companion animals who may struggle to find specialized veterinary services.

  • Emergency and Urgent Care: While not a 24-hour emergency clinic, the hospital strives to accommodate urgent and emergency cases during their regular business hours, as reflected in the review about fitting in a sick cat quickly. For after-hours emergencies, they are likely to have protocols for referrals to specialized emergency veterinary hospitals to ensure continuous care.

  • Pain Management: Understanding that pain can significantly impact a pet's quality of life, Barre Animal Hospital incorporates effective pain management strategies into their treatment plans, particularly for surgical recovery, chronic conditions, and geriatric care.

  • Cremation Services: For end-of-life care, they provide compassionate support, including cremation services, helping pet owners through difficult times with dignity and understanding.

We have taken all our dogs here since the 1970s. Dr. Cihocki may seem laid back but he has always made good, careful diagnoses on those occasions of concern. He put one dog's leg back together, and has always sent a sympathy card when we had to have our loved ones put to sleep. His staff is very friendly and helpful and will do trip best to fit you in as soon as possible when you call.

Brought in my daughters kitten after her dog scratched his eye. The vet knew the eye wasn't salvageable and got us in promptly. He did a great job and the staff is so caring to the pets. I had him all the way down from Vergennes, couldn't of gotten better service, prices and care then what they showed little Lucifer! Thank you All

I've gone to Dr. Cihocki for decades. He truly cares about the dogs I've brought in. Addison's Disease, IBD, cancers, and more...he's been there for every journey. He's figured out the hard-to-diagnose, and I know he puts in long hours doing this. Thank you.

Been going here for at least 10 years and the staff is always friendly and caring. The veterinarian is very caring and competent with many years of work under his belt. The facility is small, and sometimes quite loud at times, but nothing that isn't expected in a vets office. Would recommend to others.
