I switched my dog here about a year ago because of the better prices and location. I have recently switched him again due to their lack of practice. My dog got his first rabies vaccine back in 2023, which was just a one-year dose. When I switched him over to Banfield, they read over his records and somehow missed the fact that he got a one-year rabies, not a 3-year. Me, not questioning the vet, went along with it since I did not know the specifics of the vaccine. Now we are 7 months past his due date of the rabies vaccine and I am pretty angry. These vets need to make sure they are seeing the correct due dates for vaccines, because my dog could have contracted an illness and died because of them. They are supposed to have this knowledge so we do not need to worry about it. Very disappointed.

Banfield Pet Hospital Introduce
Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital, located at 8210 Plaza Dr, Madison, WI 53719, USA. As a pet hospital within the broader Banfield network, this location aims to provide a range of veterinary services to the local community. Banfield Pet Hospitals are a well-known chain of veterinary clinics across the United States, offering various healthcare plans and medical services for pets. This introduction will objectively outline the potential environment, services, and features of this specific Madison location based on general knowledge of the Banfield brand and the limited customer feedback available online.
Banfield Pet Hospitals typically maintain a standardized environment across their locations. You can generally expect a clean and organized facility with a welcoming reception area for pet owners and designated examination rooms for consultations and treatments. These hospitals are usually equipped with basic diagnostic tools and equipment to facilitate routine check-ups, vaccinations, and the treatment of common pet illnesses. As part of a larger network, Banfield often emphasizes accessibility and convenience for pet owners.
As a pet hospital, Banfield Pet Hospital in Madison likely offers a range of veterinary services for cats and dogs. These commonly include routine wellness exams, which are essential for monitoring your pet's overall health and detecting potential issues early. Vaccinations are a core service, aimed at protecting pets from various infectious diseases. Parasite prevention, including flea, tick, and heartworm control, is also a standard offering. Banfield hospitals typically provide dental care services, which can range from routine cleanings to more complex dental procedures.
In terms of medical services, Banfield Pet Hospital is equipped to handle common illnesses and injuries. They likely offer diagnostic services such as laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, fecal exams) and imaging (like X-rays) to aid in diagnosing various conditions. Treatment options may include medication, minor surgical procedures, and supportive care. For more complex medical or surgical cases, Banfield may refer patients to specialty veterinary centers.
A significant feature of Banfield Pet Hospitals is their Wellness Plans. These are subscription-based plans designed to help pet owners manage the costs of routine veterinary care through monthly payments. These plans often include services like regular check-ups, vaccinations, parasite screenings, and dental cleanings, depending on the chosen plan level. The intention is to make preventative care more affordable and accessible.
However, the available customer feedback includes a review specifically addressing concerns about these Wellness Plans. The reviewer cautions potential customers to be very careful about signing up for the plans and particularly about auto-renewal. They highlight that the plans are "completely locked in" to pay the full rate upon auto-renewal, even in situations like unexpected relocation or the pet's death. This lack of flexibility and the commitment to the full term, regardless of circumstances, is a significant point of caution for prospective clients considering these plans.
Another customer review raises concerns about the level of practice regarding vaccination protocols. This review details an instance where the hospital allegedly missed that the dog had received a one-year rabies vaccine elsewhere and did not correctly schedule the booster, leading to the dog being significantly overdue for the vaccination. The reviewer expresses disappointment and concern about the potential health risks to their pet due to this oversight. This feedback suggests a potential issue with the thoroughness of reviewing prior medical records and adhering to proper vaccination schedules.
Given these reviews, it is important for local users considering Banfield Pet Hospital in Madison to be aware of both the potential benefits and the reported drawbacks. While the convenience and the concept of wellness plans for managing routine costs might be appealing, the inflexibility of these plans and the reported error in vaccination scheduling are significant points to consider and discuss with the hospital staff.
Promotional information specific to the Madison location is not available in the provided reviews. However, Banfield as a national chain often promotes their Wellness Plans as a way to save money on preventative care and budget for their pet's health needs. They may also offer introductory discounts or special offers for new clients or specific services. Local users are encouraged to contact the Banfield Pet Hospital in Madison directly at (608) 826-6255 or +1 608-826-6255 or visit their website (if available for this specific location) to inquire about current promotions and the details of their Wellness Plans.
As a "Pet Hospital," Banfield Pet Hospital in Madison aims to be a comprehensive healthcare provider for pets, offering a range of medical services and potentially selling related goods such as pet food and medications. The convenience of their locations and the structure of their Wellness Plans are often highlighted as benefits. However, the customer feedback regarding the inflexibility of the wellness plans and the reported error in vaccination scheduling should prompt potential clients to seek detailed information and clarification from the hospital regarding these aspects before committing to their services.
For local users in Madison, Wisconsin, Banfield Pet Hospital at 8210 Plaza Dr offers a conveniently located option for veterinary care. However, it is crucial to carefully consider the terms and conditions of their Wellness Plans and to discuss their protocols for reviewing prior medical records and managing vaccination schedules with the veterinary team. While they offer a range of standard veterinary services, the reported negative experiences highlight the importance of thorough communication and understanding of their policies.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin, provides a range of veterinary services and offers Wellness Plans for routine care. While the convenience and the idea of budgeting for pet health might be attractive, potential clients should be aware of the reported inflexibility of the Wellness Plans and a concerning instance of a vaccination scheduling error. It is recommended to discuss these aspects in detail with the hospital staff to ensure it aligns with your needs and your pet receives appropriate and timely care.

Mar 12, 2025 · Sydney Denu**This review is just based on the wellness plans Banfield offers. These plans are completely locked in to pay the full rate of the plan as soon as auto-renewal hits. That includes if you move unexpectedly or even if your pet dies. Be very careful about signing up for the plans and about auto-renewal. I strongly recommend staying away from the plans.
Jan 02, 2025 · John TriscariI scheduled an appointment online. Got a text asking to confirm, which I did, and text said my appointment was confirmed. I made the appointment about a week in advance. Show up to appointment (a 60 mile one way drive) on time only to be told "we tried to call you, we don't take end of day appointments for new customers". And so they wouldn't see us even after I told them I drove 60 miles. They need to update their online scheduling system so mistakes like this don't happen. And they also need to make more of an effort to get a hold of customers to reschedule if they don't plan on honoring appointment times. Why would they keep my appointment time just to turn me away when I got there? And after finding out how far i drove why not do the exam anyway even if it means they stay 10 minutes past closing? They could have cancelled the appointment and I'm sure I'd be notified by text and would have known to reschedule. Needless to say I won't try going to any Banfield location ever again.
Jan 03, 2025 · Tiff GarNina was excellent and gave terrific explanations for our dogs needs. Well done. We also purchased a wellness plan that saved us money on care. Quick and easy, courteous and had our dog’s best interests at heart.
May 10, 2024 · Mercedes FI came in with a new food prescription 10 minutes after they closed. The woman at the desk made me a new prescription card so I could get my cats food anyway. I can't thank her enough for staying late to do this for me. Thank you again!!
