Do not I repeat do NOT bring your pets to this vet even as a last resort. "Drs" a complete joke unprofessional and charge you $72 for a " full wellness visit" which is essentially 5 mins of their time and them throwing a million different mark up options and add ons they can at you to make the quickest buck. Sell up is their game! Ohh and btw if you're bringing your pet in for a procedure its done out in the open just behind the rooms where the visits are being done. No separation whatsoever which as a pet owner leaves you feeling completely uneasy and questioning how seriously you can take a "vet office" set up this way. Its essentially a overpriced drive thru type of service where theyll charge you top dollar and give you bare minimal or less care in return. My dog was going to be sent home with a stinger still lodged in his eyelid after a vet completely missed it even though I suggested it was the issue from the get go(but what do I know as the owner right?). Wanted to do tons of everything else that had absolutely nothing to do with the underlying issue and make you sign to get their exam fee out of you after you decline all their garbage add on services nobody asked for. Ive never been to a reputable vet that makes you sign a waiver acknowledging their exam fee itself. If you're there for a service in a professional setting you know there will be a fee but its as if they know their service is less than par so they need customers to agree to pay for it anyways. Fast forward once stinger was finally removed and given antibiotics and sent home. My dog is obviously having adverse reactions to the venom of the sting and I don't need to have a veterinarian degree in order to know that by just looking at him and the eyelid itself 🙄 When I called this morning to tell them it was initially better but now looking worse im immediately told I can bring him back in (of course for another easy $ by charging for a BRAND NEW wellness visit fee for the SAME exact issue less than 24hrs ago🤣). I refused to pay that and of course the blame is turned on me on how I refused all the unnecessary suggestions PRIOR to the stinger being located and removed since afterwards nothing was suggested aside from antibiotics and Benadryl which I was already doing. Theres a million more knowledgeable, and professional veterinarian offices out their just go to them and stay away from these people. You and your pet look like this to them $$$

Based on the customer reviews available, experiences at Banfield Pet Hospital in O'Fallon appear to vary significantly. One reviewer expressed strong dissatisfaction, advising against bringing pets to this clinic even as a last resort. This customer described the "doctors" as unprofessional, criticized the $72 "full wellness visit" as a brief interaction focused on upselling, and raised concerns about procedures being done in an open area behind the examination rooms, leading to unease about the level of care. This reviewer also recounted an incident where a stinger lodged in their dog's eyelid was initially missed, leading to further complications and dissatisfaction with the follow-up care and charges.
In contrast, another customer shared a positive experience during what seemed to be an emergency visit. This reviewer praised Brenda, a staff member who has known their pets since they were young, for providing reassurance. They also commended the doctor for being thorough in explaining their concerns and the tests conducted, resulting in a "great experience." This feedback highlights positive interactions with specific staff members and the doctor's attentiveness.
Given these contrasting accounts, it is challenging to provide a definitive overview of the environment, services, and features of Banfield Pet Hospital based solely on these reviews. However, we can infer some potential aspects and areas where further inquiry might be beneficial for local pet owners.
Typically, a Banfield Pet Hospital, as part of a larger network, offers a range of veterinary services, which may include:
- Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups to monitor your pet's overall health.
- Vaccinations: To protect your pet against various diseases.
- Dental Care: Including teeth cleaning and other dental procedures.
- Surgery: Both routine and more complex surgical procedures.
- Diagnostics: Such as blood tests, X-rays, and other imaging to diagnose health issues.
- Treatment of Illnesses and Injuries: Addressing various health problems your pet may encounter.
- Preventative Care: Including heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
The negative review raises concerns about the professionalism of some staff, the focus on upselling, the openness of procedure areas, and the handling of specific medical issues and follow-up. The positive review, on the other hand, suggests that some staff members are caring and that at least one doctor is thorough and communicative.

May 10, 2025 · Daniella AraujoI brought one of my girls in for a type of emergency visit. I was extremely worried about what might be wrong. Brenda, one of the people who has interacted with my girls since they were 6 weeks old was there to reassure me. The doctor, was amazing, taking the time to go over everything that I was concerned about. Great experience. So thank you to Brenda, for holding my hand, and to the vet, who took his time to go over all the tests
Jul 13, 2022 · sharon wyattI had an appointment for my cat at 5:30. I arrived ahead of time and waited to be seen. At 5:31 the front desk associate informed me that they would not be seeing my cat because it was “past 5:30”. I replied that I had been waiting to be seen and she stated that she had called me asking to change the appointment time and I didn’t answer. I informed her that I had one missed called with no voicemail from the location and that I couldn’t change the appointment time even if she had left a voicemail. She would not tell me why our cat could not be seen, only that she would need to reschedule. At no point were we informed that the appointment time needed to be changed. The vet was sitting at a table on their phone, not seeing an animal. It was clear that they did not want to see our sick cat out of fear that they would have to work past 6 PM. I wouldn’t trust the staff at this location with a pet rock, let alone a living animal.
Oct 01, 2024 · Rachel WarmbierI wanted to say thank you to all the staff here, we are in town for the week with our Prince. Unfortunately he only has a short time left with us, we needed help getting his fluids yesterday and when we came in everyone from the front desk to the tech were so kind and helped us. It’s been a difficult time since getting the news and the kind gestures from them meant a lot to us. We would trust any pet with them if we lived here. So thank you again from his family.
Jul 05, 2019 · ivan vazquezI lost my fur baby Charlie Moon on 05/07/22. The staff did everything they could to save him, but he was too far gone. Even though this has been the hardest week of my life, it would be remiss to not acknowledge the quality care and excellent staff at this location. Everyone here handled me and my puppy with so much compassion, professionalism, and patience. I am beyond grateful. I especially want to thank Clare, Travis, and Jason for going the extra mile; providing love, hugs, and support. Your pets are in excellent hands here.
