I took both of my dogs in for their wellness checkups and the vet did a thorough exam to find lumps on both dogs. We have found out since then that one dog has a lipoma and recommended surgery to have the tumor removed and tested for the other dog. The care that is shown for both of my animals is amazing and I wouldn't of even known about the lipoma/tumors if Dr. Sheffield did not do a thorough exam. Thank you!

While specific details about the environment of our Wentzville location are best experienced during a visit, Banfield Pet Hospitals are generally designed to be welcoming and comfortable spaces for both pets and their owners. We understand that visiting a pet hospital can sometimes be a source of anxiety for animals, and our aim is to create a calm and reassuring atmosphere. You can typically expect clean and well-maintained examination rooms, comfortable waiting areas, and modern facilities equipped to handle a variety of medical needs. Our focus is on providing a professional yet caring environment where you can feel confident in the quality of care your pet receives.
Banfield Pet Hospital in Wentzville offers a comprehensive suite of veterinary services to address various aspects of your pet's health. Positive feedback from a customer highlights the thoroughness of our wellness exams. In this instance, Dr. Sheffield's detailed examination led to the early detection of lumps on both dogs, resulting in the diagnosis of a lipoma in one and the recommendation for surgical removal and testing of a tumor in the other. This review underscores the importance of regular wellness checks and the diligence of our veterinary professionals in identifying potential health concerns.
However, it is important to acknowledge a serious negative review detailing a tragic experience involving a puppy. This customer reported bringing their newly acquired puppy to Banfield for an initial check-up, where the puppy tested negative for parvo and was diagnosed with being underweight and having worms. Following deworming, the puppy reportedly vomited and subsequently died less than 24 hours later. The reviewer expressed distress over the outcome and the associated costs, alleging a "dewormer overdose" and unsatisfactory resolution regarding fees. This account raises significant concerns and highlights the potential for adverse outcomes in veterinary care, emphasizing the need for thorough communication, accurate diagnoses, and careful treatment protocols.
Given the conflicting nature of these reviews, it is essential for pet owners to consider both the positive aspects of thorough care and the potential risks involved in any medical procedure. Banfield Pet Hospital likely follows established medical protocols and strives to provide quality care, but as with any healthcare setting, errors or unexpected complications can occur. It is crucial for pet owners to have open and honest communication with their veterinary team, to ask questions, and to express any concerns they may have about their pet's treatment plan.
Features of Banfield Pet Hospitals often include a focus on preventive care through wellness plans. While specific promotional information for the Wentzville location is not provided in the reviews, Banfield typically offers Optimum Wellness Plans. These plans are designed to make routine veterinary care more affordable through monthly payments and often include services such as regular exams, vaccinations, parasite control, and dental cleanings. These plans aim to promote proactive healthcare, potentially leading to the early detection of issues like the lumps found during the wellness exam mentioned in the positive review.
In addition to wellness and preventive care, Banfield Pet Hospital in Wentzville is equipped to handle a range of medical and surgical needs. While the reviews do not explicitly detail all available services, typical offerings at a full-service pet hospital include vaccinations, treatment for illnesses and injuries, diagnostic testing (such as blood work, X-rays, and ultrasounds), various surgical procedures, dental care, and management of chronic conditions. The positive review mentioning the recommendation for tumor removal suggests that surgical services are likely available at this location.
It is important for pet owners to inquire directly with the Wentzville Banfield Pet Hospital about the specific services they offer and their protocols for diagnosis and treatment. Understanding the hospital's procedures, especially in cases involving young or vulnerable animals, is crucial. The negative review serves as a reminder of the importance of clear communication, careful monitoring, and thorough follow-up care, particularly after any medical intervention.
Regarding promotional information, beyond the general concept of wellness plans, no specific current promotions or discounts for the Wentzville location are mentioned in the provided reviews. To learn about any ongoing special offers, new client discounts, or the details of the Optimum Wellness Plans, it is recommended to contact Banfield Pet Hospital directly at (636) 887-4282 or +1 636-887-4282. You can also visit their website for more information about their services and any potential promotions.
In conclusion, Banfield Pet Hospital in Wentzville is a local "Pet Hospital" offering a range of veterinary services, including wellness exams that can lead to the detection of underlying health issues. However, the stark contrast in customer experiences, with one highlighting thorough care and another detailing a tragic outcome, underscores the importance of careful consideration when choosing a veterinary provider. We encourage pet owners in Wentzville to research and communicate openly with Banfield Pet Hospital to understand their practices and ensure they feel confident in the care their pets will receive. It is always advisable to seek comprehensive information and consider multiple perspectives when making decisions about your pet's health.

Mar 03, 2025 · Melissa VaughanThey killed my puppy. I got a puppy on Sunday September 3rd and got her into the vet on Tuesday September 5th. She tested negative for parvo, heart and lungs sounded good per the vet. The vet said she was 6 to 7 weeks old and that she was underweight and had worms. They dewormed her and she threw up within an hour. I called the vet because I was told to call if she vomits. They said she would have them coming from both ends over the next few days. She threw up again last night. I cleaned her up and her kennel, well this morning Wed the 6th she was gone. I pd 169.21 and to cancel my plan they want an additional 200.93 for services provided yesterday. the only service provided was a dewormer overdose and a dead puppy less than 24 hours later. I will post the video from today on social media if this isn't resolved, thankfully my brother works for a HUGE advertising company. Stay away! A local competitor would have cost 185 and they want 370. RIP Angel
Sep 06, 2023 · WallyWorst experience ever. My dog is 5 and is the most laid back easy going, and loving boy you’ll ever meet. This place does not know how to handle pets with care. My pup was terrified when he left, had an open wound in his Nose and a huge lump on his nose too…. Save yourself the time and trouble. Go somewhere else..
Jan 02, 2023 · cameron brodrickNever take your beloved fur baby to Wentzville Banfield if you want them to mistreat your babies… never again will I take my innocent sweet 6 year old boy to this place again. In the 6 years I have had my sweet boy never have I ever been told this dog needs a “muzzle”, was tremoring after picking him up, had a huge bump on top of his nose that no one could explain to me… to anyone knows copper, he is the most loving, calm, and happy soul you’ll ever meet. No matter what he gets done at his previous vet he left in a great mood and a great report card . Stay far away from Wentzville if you want to have the same poor experience I had.
Apr 17, 2024 · Lauren LathangueBanefield has done a great job of helping my wife and I throughout the first year of our puppy's life. There were a lot of things that needed to be done to make sure our puppy was healthy and they always answered all my questions. The pet wellness plan is also a nice option if you want to spread out the cost shots and spay/neuter of your new little fur baby.
