We love Banfield! Our Corso is a nervous guy he’s a very good boy just a little vocal as he thinks he has to be a tough guy. Everyone who handled him was so sweet though and I could hear them giving him lots of love and praises when he went back to get his blood work done. He did amazing with them because they did amazing with him. We only will deal with the staff here for now both our dogs. ❤️

This specific location in Washington, PA, exemplifies the Banfield commitment to accessible and comprehensive veterinary care, serving the local community with a blend of standardized procedures and personalized attention. As part of a national chain, Banfield often benefits from being conveniently located within PetSmart stores, making it a highly accessible option for pet owners to integrate veterinary visits with their regular pet supply shopping.

The environment at this Banfield Pet Hospital is consistently described by customers as "warm and welcoming," which is a significant positive given that veterinary visits can often be stressful for pets. While the typical Banfield clinic design is clean, modern, and efficient, the Washington, PA location distinguishes itself through the palpable kindness and patience of its staff. Reviews highlight a particular focus on creating a comfortable experience for even nervous or anxious pets. The staff's willingness to go above and beyond, providing "lots of love and praises" to a "nervous guy" like a Corso during blood work, demonstrates a commitment to reducing animal anxiety and fostering a positive association with vet visits. This empathetic approach contributes to an atmosphere where pets feel more at ease, and owners feel their concerns are understood and addressed. The emphasis on individual care, despite being part of a larger corporate entity, is a notable feature of this particular Banfield location.

Banfield Pet Hospital in Washington, PA, provides a broad spectrum of veterinary services, aligning with the comprehensive care model of a full-service "Pet Hospital." Their services are designed to cover various stages of a pet's life, from puppyhood/kittenhood through their senior years, with a strong emphasis on preventive medicine. Key service categories typically include:

  • Preventive and Wellness Care: This is a cornerstone of Banfield's offerings. Services include thorough physical examinations (nose-to-tail assessments), age-appropriate vaccination programs (covering core and non-core diseases like rabies, distemper, parvovirus, leptospirosis, feline leukemia, etc.), and personalized nutritional counseling. They also provide guidance on weight management and healthy lifestyle choices.

  • Dental Care: Oral health is crucial for overall well-being. Banfield provides professional dental cleanings, which typically involve scaling and polishing under general anesthesia. They also offer dental X-rays to assess the health of the teeth below the gum line and perform necessary extractions.

  • Diagnostic Services: To ensure accurate diagnoses, the hospital is equipped with various diagnostic tools. This typically includes in-house laboratory capabilities for rapid blood tests, urinalysis, and fecal exams to detect parasites and other health issues. Digital radiography (X-rays) is also available to evaluate internal organs, bones, and soft tissues for injuries or diseases.

  • Surgical Procedures: Common surgical procedures offered include spaying and neutering. They also perform various soft tissue surgeries such as mass removals, foreign body extractions, and other general surgical interventions, with appropriate pre-surgical blood work and anesthetic monitoring to ensure patient safety.

  • Parasite Control: Comprehensive programs for preventing and treating both internal and external parasites, including heartworm, fleas, ticks, and intestinal worms, are available. This includes testing and prescribing appropriate preventative medications.

  • Behavioral Consultations: While not specialists, Banfield veterinarians can offer initial guidance on common behavioral issues and help determine if a medical condition might be contributing to a pet's behavior, like anxiety. They can also provide referrals if more specialized behavioral therapy is needed.

  • Microchipping: A permanent identification service crucial for reuniting lost pets with their families.

  • Pharmacy Services: Providing access to a range of prescription medications, including antibiotics, pain relief, and maintenance drugs for chronic conditions.

A distinctive feature, and a significant promotional point for Banfield Pet Hospitals, is their Optimum Wellness Plan® (OWP). This is a subscription-based preventive care package that allows pet owners to spread the cost of routine veterinary services over monthly payments. Unlike traditional pet insurance, OWPs are designed to cover planned wellness care rather than unexpected illnesses or accidents. The plans are tailored for different life stages and species (puppies, kittens, adult dogs, and cats) and typically include:

  • Unlimited office visits at any Banfield location nationwide, which is a key benefit, especially for pets needing frequent check-ups or follow-ups.

  • All recommended routine vaccinations.

  • Comprehensive physical exams.

  • Select diagnostic tests like blood work and fecal exams.

  • Discounts on various products and services not covered by the plan, such as dental procedures, surgeries, and additional medications (typically ranging from 5% to 20%).

  • Access to Banfield's 24/7 Vet Chat™ for immediate veterinary advice and support.

The OWP aims to encourage proactive and consistent preventive care, which can lead to early detection of health issues and potentially reduce overall veterinary costs in the long run. It provides a predictable budgeting tool for pet owners committed to regular wellness visits.

The Washington Banfield is always so warm and welcoming. Every time I go there they are helpful, patient and understanding of my baby Winston and Loki. A few names who deserve recognition are Chet, Courtney, Dr. Rebecca and Dr. Richardson. Keep up the good work guys!

Best experience I've ever had at a vet. My dog is very reactive to other dogs and they were very friendly and accommodating in the intake process and also during the visit. They even brought in a bowl of water for my dog. At one point my dog spilled some water on the floor and when I wiped it up with paper towels the towels were still white when I was done bc the floor was so clean. They even handled my dog growling with more professionalism than I've experienced at other vets. They were able to examine my dog and come up with a plan of action very proficiently and quickly and I wasn't there for several hrs waiting to be seen, and waiting in the exam room. I would recommend this pet hospital for all your pet's needs over any others I've ever been to in the last 30 years.

My first time there was a couple weeks ago. I couldn’t of been happier. All the techs that were part of Ara’s appointment were absolutely awesome. Everyone just doted over my puppy and showed so much care. The appointment went well and can’t wait for the next. Very caring and compassionate staff. Would definitely recommend..

I recently went to Banfield in Washington PA Trinity Point for afterlife care of my beloved cat Mia. I am so grateful for the compassion and care they treated us both with during this difficult process. They reached out twice afterwards with with beautiful cards signed by the whole Banfield team. I want to thank you all for the kindness you showed!
