I usually go to a different location but they couldn't see me for a week, so I checked this location and got in for a drop off the next day. Aterra was very kind and patient getting my cat Gary's history and even had Dr. Grube come in to check on him before I dropped him off which I appreciated. The guy at the front desk was very nice too...I'll admit I'm an over the top cat mom but, they all listened and didn't make me feel bad about it 馃槄 Signing up for a wellness plan also made his illness visit alot more affordable today. Thanks guys!

Welcome to Banfield Pet Hospital
Welcome to the introduction of the Banfield Pet Hospital located at 13150 Middlebelt Rd, Livonia, MI 48150, USA. Banfield Pet Hospital is a well-known chain of veterinary clinics offering a range of services for pets. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the customer experiences at the Livonia location based on the available reviews, which present a mixed picture of the care and service provided.
Based on the customer feedback, the environment and initial interactions at the Banfield Pet Hospital in Livonia have been positively noted by some. One reviewer who visited this location when their usual vet was unavailable described Aterra as "very kind and patient" while taking their cat's history. They also appreciated that Dr. Grube checked on their cat before the drop-off. This customer found the front desk staff to be "very nice" and felt that their concerns as an "over the top cat mom" were heard without judgment. They also mentioned that signing up for a wellness plan made the visit more affordable, indicating that such plans are available and can be beneficial for managing the costs of pet care.
However, other reviews present significant concerns regarding the services and practices at this Pet Hospital. One review makes a serious accusation, stating that the Livonia location "loves selling expired heartworm preventatives." This is a critical claim that potential customers should be aware of. Another customer detailed a negative experience starting with an online appointment where a quoted price contingent on enrollment was allegedly not honored at the appointment. This led them to choose a different location and being required to "drop off" their dog, despite their warnings about the dog's anxiety due to past abuse. The reviewer then had to return shortly because their dog wouldn't hold still, which they had initially predicted.
Furthermore, the same customer reported significant issues with obtaining their dog's heartworm preventative medication through Chewy. They claimed that Banfield staff repeatedly said the prescription would be filled but failed to do so over several days, necessitating a personal visit to the clinic to get a one-month supply. The reviewer also mentioned receiving attitude for paying in cash because the "cash till" was not ready. This customer expressed overall dissatisfaction with the care received, feeling overcharged for what they perceived as "terrible care," especially given their dog's history of heartworms.
Considering the contrasting feedback, the features of Banfield Pet Hospital in Livonia appear to include the availability of wellness plans, which can make veterinary care more affordable, as noted by one customer. The presence of staff members like Aterra and Dr. Grube, who were described as kind and patient, suggests that there are caring individuals working at this location. However, the serious allegations of selling expired medication and the reported issues with appointment handling and prescription fulfillment are significant concerns that cannot be ignored.
There is no specific promotional information available beyond the mention of wellness plans making a particular visit more affordable. Potential local users would need to inquire directly with the hospital about any current promotions or offers.
In summary, the Banfield Pet Hospital in Livonia has received mixed reviews. While some customers have appreciated the kindness of certain staff members and the financial benefits of wellness plans, there are also serious allegations and complaints regarding the sale of expired medication, discrepancies with appointment quotes, difficulties in obtaining prescriptions, and overall poor service experiences reported by other customers. Local users should carefully consider these varied experiences when deciding whether to entrust their pet's care to this facility.
For local users in Livonia and the surrounding areas, Banfield Pet Hospital at the Middlebelt Road location offers veterinary services and wellness plans. However, it is crucial to be aware of the negative feedback concerning expired medication, appointment issues, and prescription fulfillment. To make an informed decision, you may want to weigh the positive experiences of some customers against the serious concerns raised by others. You can contact them directly at (734) 525-1491 or +1 734-525-1491 to ask questions and gather more information.
To summarize the feedback regarding Banfield Pet Hospital in Livonia:
- Positive Aspects: Kind and patient staff members mentioned (Aterra, Dr. Grube), availability of wellness plans that can improve affordability.
- Negative Aspects: Allegations of selling expired heartworm preventatives, discrepancies with quoted prices, issues with appointment handling (forced drop-off for an anxious dog), significant problems with prescription fulfillment, reports of rude behavior regarding payment methods.
Prospective clients are strongly advised to consider the full spectrum of feedback provided and to conduct their own due diligence, perhaps by contacting the hospital directly and asking specific questions about their practices and policies, especially regarding medication handling and appointment procedures, before making a decision about their pet's care.

May 11, 2025 路 Kelli WANY POSITIVE REVIEWS ON THIS LOCATION ARE PROBABLY BRIBES Hey Banfield Pet Hospital, since you don't want to answer your emails, we can make this public record. Your Livonia location loves selling expired heartworm preventatives, too. This is a formal complaint regarding the Banfield location at 13150 Middlebelt Rd, Livonia, MI 48150 I originally made an appointment online and was quoted at 150 as long as I enrolled, which I agreed to. I WAS NOT GIVEN THE OPTION AT THE APPOINTMENT I was forced to pick a different location and was told I would be required to "drop him off" I told them it wasn't a good idea as my dog was abused before I adopted him and he has an unknown history (he is very sweet but also extremely nervous with new people) they allowed me to wait and then told me less than 5 minutes later I was needed because "he will not hold still for us" which is exactly what I told them would happen... Fast forward to April 3rd and I put in a chewy order for his heartworm preventative. They have all but flat out refused to fill his medication. I have called 5 times over the last few days and they keep saying it will be done. Chewy representatives have reached out as well to Banfield and it is still pending. I had to actually clock out of work and drive to the location to get ANOTHER month's supply of medication because they don't care to do their jobs and "we close at 3 today" a whole 3 hours before they're scheduled to. I paid in cash and was given attitude about how "we haven't got our cash till yet, you really should pay with a card" My dog had heartworms when I adopted him a year ago and we aren't looking to go through that again. I hope somebody can make things right because I was overcharged in the first place for such terrible care, George means the world to our family. Thank you in advance for your time!
Apr 10, 2025 路 ShayAfter a rude experience with the front desk lady Aterria, (who by the way should not be working with people. Her attitude was so bad. I wanted to really snatch her up but I didn't) Heather stepped in and did an amazing job. She was friendly kind to our situation. Very informative. She even got on her hands and knees to sanitize the floor because the room wasn't clean. Again Aterria didn't make sure the room was clean ugh this girl got on my last nerves. But Heather saved the day! She is the reason I gave 5 stars. I recommend HER. Thank you Heather 馃槉 馃檹馃従
May 02, 2025 路 Ms. Brown SugarWe've had our dog for over nine years, and for the most part have always had a pleasant experience dealing with the team at the Livonia Banfield Hospital. The last year or so the quality of service has decreased. Today was a downright horrible experience. My wife took our dog Caesar in at 10:15 am this morning because of severe vomiting and diarrhea; they just got home at 6 pm. This was the WORST experience ever!! First the vet said he needed an IV because he was dehydrated due to the vomiting but you kept him ALL DAY without giving him a IV. Second, your team took X-rays around 1:15 pm but did notify my wife of the results from the X-rays until she literally had to raise her voice at the receptionist. The vet finally talks to my wife at 3:30 pm to inform her that nothing could be detected on the X-rays; however, the X-rays needed to be sent out for further observation for 24 to 48 hours; and about the medication she would be taking home. An hour and a half goes by, and no one has come back out to talk to her. At that point, she notices the vet with her bookbag on preparing to leave at 5 pm once again WITHOUT coming back to give my wife the medication as promised and most important WITHOUT Caesar. How did we go from a critical situation at 10:15 am, but you kept our dog in the back without any medication or any IV until 5:30 pm. This is completely unacceptable, and I will never patronize this Banfield again. I am highly disappointed as a long-time customer.
