This corporation does not care about your pets. I've been coming to this vet for a while. I think about 3 years, but I'm not exactly sure how long. I called today needing to setup an appt for a minor emergency. I think my cat has an eye infection, he can barely open one eye, is leaking fluids (some as thick as boogers), and is clearly in distress because if it. Banfield told me the soonest they could get me in was February 21st. Corporate mandates that 90% of their visits are drop offs, meaning you have to leave your pet in a cage for 8 hours or they don't care. To be clear the people who work there do, but their hands are tied. This used to be an economical way to get my cats to the vet twice a year, but I'll be canceling and moving to a new vet. I called a different vet right after and despite being a new patient they can get me in tomorrow. That's what you expect when your pet is sick. Banfield is pushing for these drop offs so you don't know what tests they run or how they treat your pet. It's an unethical way of pulling as much money out of your pocket as possible. If someone is willing to drop off their pet for 8 hours they shouldn't have a pet. I'm sure there are some exceptions for people who work, but when you are preventing me from being a good owner you are the problem. They take pictures of my cat and post them on social media everytime I go there. But the second my cat actually needs help they tell me I need to wait a month. What great service! Again the employees are great, but that doesn't help when they work for a company that doesn't care about your pet.

Understanding the environment of a pet hospital is crucial for pet owners. Banfield Pet Hospital strives to create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for both pets and their owners. Typically, you can expect a clean and organized reception area where pet parents can check in and wait. Examination rooms are designed to be safe and calming spaces for pets to undergo check-ups and treatments. Depending on the size and services offered at this Mohegan Lake location, there may also be dedicated areas for surgery, dental procedures, laboratory work, and potentially overnight stays for pets requiring more intensive care.

The core of Banfield Pet Hospital lies in the comprehensive range of services it offers. As a full-service pet hospital, you can generally expect the following types of care to be available:

Preventive Care: This is a cornerstone of Banfield's approach, focusing on maintaining your pet's long-term health. Services typically include routine wellness exams, vaccinations tailored to your pet's species and lifestyle, parasite prevention (such as flea, tick, and heartworm control), and nutritional counseling to ensure your pet is on a balanced diet.

Diagnostic Services: When your pet is unwell, accurate diagnosis is key. Banfield typically offers various diagnostic tools, which may include in-house laboratory services for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams. Imaging technologies such as digital radiography (X-rays) may also be available to help visualize internal structures. These tools aid veterinarians in identifying the underlying causes of illness.

Medical Treatments: Banfield's veterinarians are equipped to manage a wide array of medical conditions. This can range from treating common illnesses like infections and allergies to managing chronic diseases such as diabetes or arthritis. Treatment plans are typically tailored to each individual pet's needs.

Surgical Services: Many Banfield locations offer surgical procedures. These can include routine surgeries like spaying and neutering, as well as more complex soft tissue surgeries. The availability of advanced surgical procedures may vary depending on the specific hospital and the expertise of the veterinarians on staff.

Dental Care: Dental health is a vital aspect of overall pet well-being. Banfield typically provides dental services such as routine cleanings, dental examinations, and treatment for dental diseases. Good dental hygiene can prevent more serious health issues down the line.

Emergency and Urgent Care: While Banfield Pet Hospital has a listed phone number ((914) 526-8600 and +1 914-526-8600), it's important to understand their approach to emergency care. Based on a recent customer review, it's crucial to inquire directly about their emergency protocols and availability. The review mentioned limitations on immediate appointments for urgent situations, suggesting that for critical emergencies, it might be necessary to seek care at a dedicated emergency veterinary facility.

Pet Health Plans: Banfield is widely known for its Optimum Wellness Plans. These are membership-based plans that bundle preventive care services into affordable monthly payments. These plans can include routine exams, vaccinations, parasite control, and dental cleanings, potentially making regular veterinary care more accessible and budget-friendly for pet owners. It's advisable to inquire about the specifics of these plans offered at the Mohegan Lake location.

Banfield Pet Hospital, as part of a larger network, may offer certain advantages such as standardized medical protocols and access to a wide range of resources and expertise within the Banfield system. Their focus on preventive care through wellness plans can be a significant benefit for pet owners looking to proactively manage their pet's health. The convenience of having a local pet hospital that offers a variety of services under one roof can also be appealing.

Interested individuals are encouraged to contact the hospital directly at (914) 526-8600 or +1 914-526-8600 or visit their website (if available for this specific location) to inquire about any current offers or new client specials.

Customer Experiences: It's important to consider the experiences of other pet owners when choosing a veterinary provider. The provided customer reviews offer contrasting perspectives. One review expresses significant dissatisfaction with the appointment scheduling for an urgent issue and criticizes a perceived corporate mandate favoring drop-off appointments, raising concerns about transparency and the level of personalized care. This reviewer ultimately decided to seek veterinary care elsewhere.

They praised the respectful and loving treatment of their dogs and appreciated the follow-up calls during an emergency admission. This positive review emphasizes the caring nature of the local staff.

I have bed. With Banfield for 13 years, the staff and doctors have been tremendous and honest. The staff always greet my dogs with respect and love. Recently my dog was admitted for emergency reason and the staff called to check up on him daily. I couldn’t be happier with the people who really care for my dogs.

This was a seriously agregious visit. My puppy is 4 months old his name is Redbone. I have taken him here once before, and once to Tractor supply for his shots. I took him here today to get some shots, and the woman at the front desk, who I believe is the only staff that is familiar with my pet remarked on his behaviorial progress. We've actually been taking him to puppy training at this PetSmart for the last 2 weeks as well. He is an Australian cattle dog, and has a tendency to bark for attention or protection but I have never heard him bark aggressively out of fear like he did this time. When it was his time for his appointment they claimed that there was no space for me to come to the room with him, so I entrusted my puppy in their care. A few minutes later I heard a loud yelp followed by aggressive barking but I have no idea what actually happened. The staff member came to the lobby to ask me back to the room that clearly had space for me from the very beginning requesting that I muzzle my dog and remarking that he needs socializing. For reference we have been for multiple walks daily, have been taking him to training classes at this same PetSmart, and have been doing TONS of socializing because I am disabled and have nothing but time on my hands. Dr Blackley is an unprofessional veterinarian at a cheap backroom Banfield and I won't ever be going to Banfield, this PetSmart, or taking him to any more classes at this classless establishment for traumatizing a puppy, unnecessarily. Next time, Dr Blackley, don't isolate puppies from their owners, abuse them, and claim innocence at cost of owner sanity. 0/10. Too bad you have to leave at least one star on Google reviews.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. I have been bringing my two dogs here for years now and this place has progressively gotten worse. Every single time my dogs are sick or need an appointment within a day or 2 they tell me they cant see them until weeks from the day I call and that’s not even a set appointment it’s a drop off where if the doctor has time they MIGHT see my sick dog. So on top of not having appointments for weeks they tell you they’ll leave the poor dog in a crate for hours until the doctor can MAYBE see them. I don’t understand how this place runs and how they even see that as okay to do to them. Why are they not leaving appointment slots up for sick dogs that need to be seen day of? It makes no sense to me and they do the same thing every single time, it’s absolutely ridiculous. We don’t go here anymore there’s no point. For people who are supposed to be the biggest dog people they don’t seem to care when it comes down to poor dogs that need to be seen.

As a first time dog owner we've gone through our worries, but they have been nothing but great! Easily reachable, very polite and welcoming in person. And most importantly, helpful in resolving some issues we had. Happy puppy every time we get him back!
