B & A Animal Hospital

The friendly yet professional staff at B & A Animal Hospital have taken good care of our 3 dogs. Yes I recommend them and will continue to take our doggies there.

I'm very very pleased with this humble establishment. I have a 2 yo Sulcata tortoise (my son) Dilley. He had recently been showing signs of discomfort. He would rarely stretch out his neck and limbs and make like a barking noise and sometimes blow bubbles in the water with his eyes shut as if he was in pain and also had frequently only at night his head would twitch with like a sneeze. Me being a first time owner I have been beside myself. So 2 weeks ago I researched a herp vet that would be a good fit.. so first took him to Alford Avenue Animal Hospital in Hoover, Al. Well, Dr. Cooner saw him and he picked him up and moved him around and studied him well watching him walk and move around outside. So that ruled out URI or pneumonia bc take in mind he hasn't had mucus, watery eyes, or anything also full appetite and energy during the day.. it's always at night time when Dilley displayed the symptoms of stretching and barking , and seldom opened mouth breathing, and weird stretching movements. So as far as he could tell, Dilley looked great, no MBD or pyramiding, weighed 7.55 pounds, and was parasite-free. So we left for home very happy and pleased but something in the back of my mind didn't set right, but thought I was being paranoid. Well after we came home the stretching and all became more frequent and he would act like he was in so much pain. Couldn't take it anymore and needed a second opinion..(Well I found these folks) and they welcomed us genuinely and listened to every detailed concern and I was already wanting an x-ray, so I was very pleased when Dr. Tucker came in liking Dilley's good looks and decided on an x-ray to see what was going on in there. Had been hoping for one at this point. Well sure enough it was worth it bc he has a bladder 🪨 and kinda cloudy looking around the lungs. So he gave him some medicine and is getting us hooked up to have it removed. He is looking into finding us a University that is willing to do it for research. So I will be able to sleep tonight without crying over my lil precious tort pleading the Blood of Jesus 🙏.. bc it has been rough worrying about my baby and not knowing what to do. So this place has answered my prayers and also has my utmost respect and business. Also the lady@ the front desk was very sweet and helpful at helping my husband go through the process of applying for the insurance they accept. BUT 35$ a check up for a tortoise is a prize besides the X-rays which was still a reasonable price altogether with meds. Also the vet tech was humble, caring, and good listener for reporting concerns, issues, or questions. Also I got tickled bc I could tell she hadn't met many reptiles but she was baby talking Dilley and said how cute he was, then petted on his shell and when she reached out to pet him and it was like shr realized she was about to pet a shell and was getting the feel for it by cupping her hand lol she was so gentle and kind to him. They all were, even other staff there were coming to see him and meet him. I am very funny about my lil Dilley's every second like he's my newborn lol, so me knowing I could trust them to take him out of the room to X-ray him without dropping him or mistreating him is saying a 1,000 words.

I like Dr.Tucker. He's great with my dogs . He's patient, kind and listens to what I have to say about them. He knows my dogs and always provides excellent care for them. The staff is friendly and kind to all the animals that they care for. The front office personnel are very friendly and helpful. The office is always very clean and smells clean. For me and my dogs it's a great place.

I so appreciate Dr. Tucker and the rest of the staff at B & A! I called on a Friday morning and was able to get my dog in the same day to be seen. I also really appreciate that they are open on Saturdays for appointments as well. I feel that Sarge was in very capable and caring hands. They took necessary precautions while handling my injured and scared German Shepherd, but were not afraid to assess him and treat him. Appreciate this clinic so much!

The doctor and all the staff are excellent I'm glad I went there they saved my dogs life
