The focus appears to be on delivering expert medical care with a supportive touch.
Avon Animal Hospital appears to specialize in advanced surgical procedures, particularly orthopedic surgeries. The available reviews specifically mention:
- Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) Surgery: This is a complex surgical procedure used to treat cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) injuries in dogs, a common cause of lameness in the hind limbs. The fact that multiple reviewers specifically mention successful TPLO surgeries indicates a high level of expertise and experience in this area at Avon Animal Hospital. The mention of a surgeon who has performed this surgery previously and is now practicing in Avon is a significant indicator of specialized skills available at this Pet Hospital.
- General Veterinary Services: While the reviews heavily emphasize surgical capabilities, it is reasonable to infer that Avon Animal Hospital also provides general veterinary services to assess the overall health of pets before and after surgical procedures, as well as for routine wellness. These may include physical examinations, pre-operative assessments, and post-operative care.

Several key features of Avon Animal Hospital are evident from the customer reviews:
- Expertise in TPLO Surgery: The repeated mention of successful TPLO surgeries and the presence of a highly skilled surgeon with prior experience in this specific procedure highlight a significant area of specialization and expertise at Avon Animal Hospital. This makes it a notable destination for pet owners whose dogs require this type of complex orthopedic surgery.
- Highly Skilled Surgeons: The description of the vet's work as "amazing" and the confidence expressed in the surgeon's abilities ("dog will be in good hands") underscore the high level of surgical skill and competence available at the hospital.
- Nice and Helpful Staff: Both reviews commend the staff for being nice and helpful. This suggests a supportive and compassionate team that contributes to a positive experience for pet owners navigating potentially stressful surgical procedures for their animals.
- Responsiveness and Efficient Communication: The positive feedback about the responsiveness to the initial call for a surgery consult indicates efficient and professional communication from the hospital staff, which is crucial for building trust and confidence with clients.
- Thorough and Reassuring Approach: The description of the initial consultation as being handled in a way that instilled confidence suggests a thorough and reassuring approach to client communication and care planning, particularly for significant surgical interventions.

Apr 26, 2025 · Tyler PaddockWe were thrilled to find the same surgeon who did our dog’s first TPLO surgery practicing in Avon, close to home for us. The responsiveness to our initial call for a surgery consult, and the entire way that first visit was handled has given us the confidence that our dog will be in good hands for his second TPLO surgery. Clearly an A+++ practice!
Apr 19, 2025 · JE BraeunleThe staff is willing to give you & your pet answers to your concerns & questions with ample time. You never feel rushed.
May 16, 2024 · Sonny KurtzBilbo Baggins, our 14 year old Ragamuffin had a partial blockage in January. Our then vet, 35 minutes away, couldn't get us in. So we went back to Avon, originally left because of a specific breed of dog we had. Dr Marvin and Sarah were wonderful and Bilbo was treated and headed for home in a reasonable amount of time. The silver lining is Bilbo didn't get dreadfully car sick like he did on the 35 minute trip. Had to have the mobile groomer scheduled immediately following his appointment. We could manage him after this visit. Yesterday he went in for his annual visit. A little bit of drool, nothing to clean up. Thank goodness. Our mobile groomer's van broke down on her way to our house. Will be taking our 2 Siamese young cats to Avon Animal Hospital for there next visits. Sorry for the long review, but I wanted to sing your praise!! All 3 playing Christmas Morning!!
Feb 20, 2019 · Kris Wolskiworst experience ever. i went to avon with my dog, in hopes of finding a permanent vet. i explained over the phone before scheduling my appointment that he has high levels of fear/anxiety that can cause him to show signs of aggression in stressful situations. they assured me that was no problem at all and they were very accommodating to these behaviors. well… at the appointment they explained that he would need blood work done & i told them he would need to be muzzled as he is deathly afraid of needles. they told me they don’t have muzzles & that i should have brought my own! then they brought in a cone. at this point my dog is hiding under the chair, as i’m trying to slowly lure him out with treats, the doctor grabs his collar and drags him out as the technician starts shoving this cone over his head!! which led to her cutting him and him bleeding from the back of his neck!!! as my dog growls out of fear the doctor is telling me how i “should really look into training as this is not normal”. at this point i’m beyond shocked. the technician suggests us to reschedule to which i explain that maybe that’s not the best idea as this doesn’t seem to be a good match. she completely blew up on me saying that they do this everyday and i have no idea what i’m doing, that i need to pay and leave immediately. i truly don’t understand how i could’ve been more open, honest and respectful towards the staff. clearly they are ill equipped, unprepared, rude & flat out ignorant. i feel so awful for trusting these people with my dog, he walked away wounded and traumatized.
