Very affordable! Helpful and kind staff. The place needs to be updated a little but other than that I highly recommend! The clinic manager is even a cat! She was so cute sitting on the counter as I left. Very sweet people and animals there. Also I noticed they are willing to help owners rehome their pets! My Dwight loves the girls there! They keep him happy and healthy!

Welcome to Ard-Vista Animal Hospital: Gessner Matthew DVM
Ard-Vista Animal Hospital, under the leadership of veterinarians such as Dr. Matthew Gessner, is a well-established and highly recommended pet hospital located at 527 S Stratford Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27103, USA. This facility stands out in the Winston-Salem community for its commitment to providing comprehensive and compassionate veterinary care, coupled with an emphasis on affordability and client education. Serving as a full-service companion animal hospital, Ard-Vista aims to be a lifelong partner in the health and well-being of your beloved pets.
The environment at Ard-Vista Animal Hospital, while noted by one reviewer as needing "to be updated a little," is universally praised for its welcoming and kind atmosphere. What truly defines the environment is the warmth exuded by the staff and the presence of friendly animals, including their charming "clinic manager," a cat who evidently makes a delightful impression on visitors. This indicates a genuine love for animals and a relaxed atmosphere that helps to put pets and their owners at ease. Despite any aesthetic considerations, the focus remains on creating a comfortable and caring space where pets receive attentive medical care. The clinic's commitment to being a clean, comfortable, and efficient state-of-the-art veterinary facility is an underlying principle of their operations, ensuring a conducive environment for both routine visits and more critical care.
Ard-Vista Animal Hospital offers a comprehensive suite of services designed to support pets through all stages of their lives, from puppyhood and kittenhood through their senior years. Their core services include **routine preventive care**, which encompasses thorough physical examinations, tailored vaccination protocols to protect against various diseases, and comprehensive parasite prevention and control programs for heartworms, fleas, and ticks. They emphasize the importance of regular check-ups for early detection and treatment of potential health issues.
Beyond routine care, the hospital provides extensive **medical and surgical services**. This includes both routine surgeries such as spaying and neutering, as well as more complex soft tissue surgical procedures. They are equipped with **diagnostic tools** such as in-house laboratory services for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal analysis, allowing for rapid and accurate diagnoses. They also provide **dental care**, which is vital for overall pet health, including cleanings and extractions when necessary. For more serious or specialized conditions, Ard-Vista Animal Hospital is willing to refer patients to specialists in areas such as internal medicine, surgery, neurology, ophthalmology, and behavior, ensuring pets receive the most appropriate and advanced care.
A significant aspect of their service is their approach to **urgent care and emergencies**. While not a 24-hour emergency facility, they are prepared to handle urgent cases during clinic hours, working to "squeeze" pets in between scheduled appointments when conditions are not life-threatening. For true emergencies outside of their operating hours, they have established partnerships with local emergency veterinary specialists, such as Carolina Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Service, providing a clear pathway for continuous care. This ensures that pet owners have resources available even in critical situations.
Ard-Vista Animal Hospital is also committed to client education, offering valuable resources like monthly newsletters covering a range of pet health topics, from preventative care (flea and tick prevention, heartworm) to emergency signs, grooming tips, and behavioral issues. They also offer a personalized pet health page called Petly, which allows clients to access their pet's health records, view appointment information, request appointments, and order prescriptions online, all from a centralized platform. This emphasizes their dedication to empowering pet owners with knowledge and convenient access to their pet's health information.
The features that make Ard-Vista Animal Hospital highly recommended by its clients are deeply rooted in its staff and their operational philosophy. The recurring theme in reviews is the presence of "helpful and kind staff" and a "great team of vets and assistants." Customers consistently praise the veterinarians for their caring approach and their willingness to "give many options when it comes to any treatments," including discussions about cost. This transparency and client-centric approach are highly valued, allowing pet owners to make informed decisions that align with their budget and pet's needs. The personal connection clients feel, as evidenced by long-term relationships (e.g., huskies coming for almost 4 years), speaks to the trust and reliability the hospital inspires.
Another unique and commendable feature is their willingness to **help owners rehome their pets**. This initiative demonstrates a deep commitment to animal welfare beyond just medical treatment, showing a compassionate understanding of the broader challenges pet owners may face and a proactive approach to ensuring animals find loving homes. The presence of the "clinic manager" cat further contributes to the hospital's endearing and animal-friendly persona.
In terms of promotional information, Ard-Vista Animal Hospital focuses on affordability and convenience. The reviews explicitly mention their services being "very affordable," which is a significant draw for many pet owners. They support various payment options, including cash, check, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover Card, and notably, **CareCredit**. CareCredit is a special financing program that allows pet owners to manage unexpected veterinary expenses by breaking down payments into monthly installments, often with interest-free options for a period. This financial flexibility is a crucial promotion of their accessibility and commitment to ensuring pets receive necessary care regardless of immediate financial constraints. Furthermore, they encourage exploring pet insurance options and offer general advice on wellness plans, helping clients save on overall veterinary costs. Their online presence, including online forms and the Petly portal, streamlines the client experience and provides a convenient way to manage pet care needs.
Ard-Vista Animal Hospital, with its team of caring veterinarians such as Dr. Matthew Gessner, friendly staff, comprehensive services, and commitment to client support and affordability, offers a highly recommended option for pet owners in Winston-Salem, NC. Their phone number is (336) 765-3070 and mobile phone +1 336-765-3070.
