Absolutely hands down the best animal hospital in the Central Pennsylvania area. Bentley was our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who passed on Nov 22, 2024. Around September 2022, at the age of 7, he was diagnosed with Lymphoma at an animal hospital in Gaithersburg Maryland. We were devastated by the news as this is a terminal condition that, without treatment, has a general life expectancy of less than two months. Chemotherapy, we were told, could offer some additional time; possibly six to nine months of a quality life. We agreed to the treatment and were recommended to engage an oncologist closer to our home in Mechanicsburg PA: Animal Hospital of Rye, Dr Alan Kirmayer. Dr. Kirmayer and staff quickly assessed Bentley’s condition and prepared a course of treatment which resulted in Bentley having a wonderful quality of life for an additional two years beyond his original diagnosis; more than double the standard life expectancy. We cannot say enough of the skilled and loving care provided to him by Dr. Kirmayer and the entire staff at the Animal Hospital of Rye. The additional two years gave us and our extended friends many wonderful memories with our beloved companion which would not have occurred without them! God Bless, Ed, Ann and Carly Wetmore

Jan 25, 2025 · Ed WetmoreTruly the best veterinarian practice in central PA! Our current vet (who sold out to a corporate model) couldn't help us with cardiology issues with our senior beagle, they didn't have the equipment or the expertise. Dr. Kirmayer quickly diagnosed the concern, got Rue started on medicine and she's doing great! From the moment that you walk in, you know that this place is different -- they care about their patients and their families! This practice is a veterinarian powerhouse in this small, unassuming location -- thank you!

Mar 03, 2025 · Amber SchellWe currently have one dog at the practice and two previous dogs. They took great care of all of them, the entire staff and several of the doctors. Our current dog was a rescue and needed some training and they recommended the best Dog Trainer who has really helped us.
Jul 08, 2024 · Lisa FaketeWe did not have a veterinarian when Marley became sick. After visiting an emergency facility Rye readily accepted Marley as a patient for his follow-up care. The staff was wonderful .The care given was gentle ,thoughtful and the veterinarian was knowledgeable and kind for both pet and owner. I was very impressed with the follow-up calls and communications between visits to assure Marley was progressing well.
