I was making an attempt to give this place zero stars but I couldn’t. Worst experience I’ve ever dealt with to open up 2025. The doctor’s attitude was the absolute worst. My dog showed signs of life during our visit. They said everything was negative. By the end of the day, he couldn’t even hold his head up. My little girl and I came back to get a second opinion. They were closed. It did seem like they were rushing to get out of there. Thank you for making my little girls new year experience a sad one.

As a local pet hospital, Animal Emergency-Critical Care: Buford Barb DVM is positioned to serve the immediate needs of pet owners seeking medical attention for their animals, particularly in urgent or critical situations. The physical environment of a pet hospital plays a crucial role in the comfort and well-being of both pets and their owners. Typically, such facilities are equipped with examination rooms for consultations, treatment areas for administering medications and performing procedures, and potentially surgical suites for more complex interventions. Depending on the scope of services, there might also be separate areas for housing and monitoring animals that require overnight or extended care. Cleanliness, organization, and a calming atmosphere are usually considered important aspects of a positive pet hospital environment.

The core services offered by a pet hospital like Animal Emergency-Critical Care: Buford Barb DVM generally encompass a range of medical and surgical care for animals. These services often include emergency care for acute illnesses or injuries that require immediate attention. Critical care services are typically provided for animals with life-threatening conditions, often involving intensive monitoring and specialized treatments. Beyond emergency and critical care, a pet hospital may also offer diagnostic services such as laboratory testing (blood work, urinalysis, etc.), imaging (X-rays, ultrasound), and other procedures to help determine the cause of an animal's health issues. Surgical services can range from routine procedures to more complex operations depending on the hospital's capabilities and the expertise of the veterinarians on staff. Consultations for general health concerns, vaccinations, and preventative care might also be part of their service offerings, although the name suggests a primary focus on emergency and critical situations.

Features that can distinguish a pet hospital include the qualifications and experience of the veterinary staff, the availability of specialized equipment and technologies, and the hospital's approach to patient care and communication with pet owners. A well-regarded pet hospital typically employs licensed veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff who are trained to handle a variety of medical situations with competence and compassion. Access to advanced diagnostic tools and treatment modalities can significantly enhance the quality of care provided. Furthermore, clear and empathetic communication with pet owners about their animal's condition, treatment options, and prognosis is often considered a hallmark of a good veterinary practice.

Promotional information for a pet hospital often highlights its key strengths, such as the availability of 24/7 emergency services (if applicable), the expertise of its veterinary team, the state-of-the-art facilities, and a commitment to providing compassionate care. They might also emphasize specific areas of specialization or any unique services they offer. Testimonials from satisfied clients are frequently used to build trust and demonstrate the quality of care provided. Special offers or introductory packages for new clients could also be part of their promotional strategy.

However, it is important to also consider feedback from clients to gain a comprehensive understanding of a business. The provided reviews offer some direct insights into the experiences of individuals who have sought care at Animal Emergency-Critical Care: Buford Barb DVM. One reviewer expressed extreme dissatisfaction, citing a negative attitude from the doctor, a perceived misdiagnosis, and a feeling of being rushed. They also mentioned their dog showing signs of life during the visit but later deteriorating, and the hospital being closed when they sought a second opinion. This reviewer gave the lowest possible rating and described it as the "worst experience."

Another review detailed a negative experience where the reviewer felt the hospital's treatment made their dog worse. They specifically criticized the use of staples on a pavement burn instead of cleaning, questioned the relevance of the prescribed medication, and described the veterinarian as "under educated." This reviewer also raised concerns about the veterinarian's credentials and the unprofessional behavior of the staff, including an instance of misleading a patient over the phone. They recounted a subsequent opinion from their family veterinarian who allegedly described the work done as a "hack job" and questioned whether a licensed veterinarian had treated their puppy. This reviewer expressed extreme dissatisfaction and concern about the existence of such a place.

These reviews present serious allegations regarding the quality of care, the professionalism of the staff, and the competence of the veterinarian(s) at Animal Emergency-Critical Care: Buford Barb DVM. Potential local users should take these experiences into account when considering this facility for their pet's veterinary needs. It is advisable to seek further information, perhaps by looking for additional reviews on other platforms or by directly contacting the hospital to inquire about their services, qualifications, and approach to patient care. Visiting the facility in person, if possible, might also provide valuable insights into the environment and the interactions with staff.

Given the contrasting nature of a general description of what a pet hospital offers and the specific negative feedback received by Animal Emergency-Critical Care: Buford Barb DVM, it is crucial for local users to conduct their own due diligence. While the hospital is categorized as a Pet Hospital offering emergency and critical care services, the customer reviews highlight significant concerns that potential clients should be aware of. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview based on the available information, including both the general expectations for a pet hospital and the specific experiences reported by some customers.

For pet owners in the Toledo, OH area looking for veterinary care, especially in emergency situations, it is recommended to consider all available options and make informed decisions based on a variety of factors, including the hospital's services, location, reputation, and the experiences of other pet owners. The animal hospital did very little to help our dog. In fact they actually made our dog worse off by giving him staples over a pavement burn instead of just cleaning it out and letting it heal. Something I had never heard of before putting staples when there is no actual laceration. Then they gave him medicine That had nothing to do with his injuries. Whenever you would ask the vet any questions such as, should we bring him in for a follow up or how soon she felt we could change bandages. She was very under educated and I would not be surprised if she turned out not to be a veterinarian at all. I do not want to even get into how she as well as the staff were extremely cold hearted and I even heard one of the staff miss lead another patient over the phone and actually hang up laughing about it as she talked to one of her coworkers. Very unprofessional and I would never go back even if I was paid The rates they charged to treat my puppy only to have my family veteran look my puppy over the next day and say that whoever worked on my puppy did a hack job. Even my family that could not understand why staples were used on my puppy. He insisted that my puppy was not seen by a license Veterinarian. Extremely dissatisfied and Extremely bothered that place is like this exist.

When my Dog was hurt in a bad accident they were very responsive and caring with my dog. He was kept overnight while they tried to get a consult for specialist. They explained everything that was wrong including the cost and his chances. When I had to put him down they were wonderful and I got to be with him.

Terrible experience. I waited for 2.5 hours for nothing. They did not treat my dog at all other than give her pain meds. They told me that they didn't even have a otoscope ( ear scope) to look in her ear. While there I overheard the receptionist lie to a hysterical caller and told her she had an emergency to take care of and hung up on her. There was no emergency. She just lied to get her off the phone. The intake attendant asked me the same questions over and over ( he was not paying attention at all). The floors in our exam room had dried fluids on the floor and lots of animal hair and dirt. I will never go there again.

I called about a cut on my dogs ear from trying to get a mat out behind his ear. The receptionist had a very rude tone as I was explaining the cut, and then just told me to bring him in. The exam alone is $99! That's a ridiculous amount just to overlook my dog.
