Positives: this doctor is knowledable. Every pet is "baby" and his prices for emergency visits are budget saving. They will take your animal after hours and take the time to get your animal well. Cons: expect a minimum 3 hour wait for any pick up. Expect that the office staff will half check you in 6 different times by 6 different people. Every vet tech does half of a job before moving onto the next job to start at never finish. Even calling in I got to talk 20 seconds to the receptionist before waiting 4 minutes for her to talk to me for another 30 seconds and conclude the conversation. Wr are pretty sure our cat was kept in a really cramped crate, which wouldn't have been a big deal except he was there for 7 days and was ready to go home 3 days prior to our pick up but because I never could conclude an effective conversation with the office staff, I had to spent 2 different days off to wait in the lobby total of 5 hours before picking up my cat and getting a bag of medicine to give him. In going back to talk with the doctor the paperwork for him was lost in a big pile of other paperwork. I'll be forever grateful for the emergency call and helping my orange cat menace and that it wasn't over 400. I will also not be returning here as the literal chaos of trying to get in and seen or check out or picked up is too much stress. In talking with locals in the lobby, that is normal.

Welcome to Animal Clinic
The Animal Clinic located at 617 W Poplar St, Pulaski, TN 38478, USA, serves the local community by providing veterinary care for beloved pets. You can contact them by phone at (931) 363-4581 or via mobile at +1 931-363-4581. Based on available information and customer reviews, this clinic appears to be a general practice with a notable strength in providing after-hours and emergency veterinary services at a relatively affordable cost, a critical offering for pet owners in need of urgent care.
While specific standard operating hours are not extensively detailed, the clinic's readiness to "take your animal after hours" for emergencies suggests a commitment to being available when unexpected situations arise, which is a significant advantage for pet owners in the Pulaski area.
The Animal Clinic, like any veterinary facility, aims to provide a functional and safe environment for treating animals. However, customer feedback offers a mixed perspective on the client experience within this environment. On the one hand, the compassion of the doctor is highlighted, indicating a caring approach to the animals themselves, where "every pet is 'baby.'" This suggests a fundamental dedication to the well-being of the patients. On the other hand, logistical challenges, such as "a minimum 3-hour wait for any pick up" and frequent hand-offs by multiple staff members during check-in, point to an environment that can be chaotic and stressful for owners. The concern about a cat being kept in a "cramped crate" for an extended period also suggests potential limitations in their holding or recovery areas, especially during busy periods or for longer stays. These operational aspects, as described by a local reviewer, indicate an environment that, while medically functional, might benefit from improved patient flow and communication protocols to enhance the overall client experience.
Based on the customer reviews, the Animal Clinic provides essential veterinary services, with a clear focus on emergency and critical care at a budget-friendly price point. Their services likely include:
- Emergency and After-Hours Care: This is a prominent feature, as the clinic is noted for being able to "take your animal after hours" and helping pets in "serious pain" during emergencies. This crucial service often saves pet lives and provides immense relief to worried owners, especially when other clinics might be closed or charge significantly more for urgent visits. The customer who thought euthanasia was the "only financially sound option" highlights the clinic's ability to provide life-saving care within a manageable budget.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: The doctor is described as "knowledgeable," indicating a capacity to diagnose conditions and formulate treatment plans. The clinic helped "get your animal well," suggesting general medical treatment for various ailments.
- Budget-Saving Prices: A recurring theme is the affordability of their services, particularly for emergency visits, which are often "budget saving" and not "over 400" dollars for significant interventions. This makes critical care more accessible to a wider range of pet owners.
- Radiography (X-rays): The mention of X-rays being performed, specifically for "dang near 300 bucks," confirms that the clinic has X-ray capabilities for diagnostic imaging. While a customer expressed a preference for blood work in that specific instance, the availability of X-rays is a standard diagnostic tool in veterinary practice.
- Medication Dispensing: Clients receive a "bag of medicine" to administer at home, indicating that the clinic has an in-house pharmacy or dispenses necessary prescriptions.
As a general practice, it's reasonable to infer they also provide:
- Wellness and Preventive Care: Though not explicitly detailed in the emergency-focused reviews, a general veterinary clinic would typically offer routine examinations, vaccinations, and parasite prevention to maintain pet health.
- Basic Surgical Procedures: Most general practices perform common surgeries like spaying, neutering, and minor mass removals.
However, the reviews lean heavily towards their strengths in emergency care and affordability, implying that routine visits might also be available but are less emphasized in the provided feedback.
The Animal Clinic in Pulaski, TN, possesses several unique features that differentiate it, particularly its approach to emergency care and pricing:
- Affordable Emergency Services: This is arguably their most significant distinguishing feature. Providing "budget saving" options for emergencies, even when it's a "serious pain" situation that might otherwise lead to euthanasia due to cost, is a profound benefit to the community. This accessibility to critical care at a lower price point than many other emergency vets is a major draw.
- After-Hours Availability for Emergencies: Their willingness to see animals after normal business hours for emergencies fills a crucial gap in veterinary care, providing a lifeline for pet owners when unexpected issues arise.
- Knowledgeable Veterinarian(s): The doctor is praised for being "knowledgeable," instilling confidence in the medical expertise provided. This expertise, combined with a compassionate demeanor, creates trust with clients.
- Compassionate Care for Animals: Despite the logistical challenges, the core care for the animals themselves is highlighted as compassionate, treating every pet as "baby." This underlying empathy for the animals is a strong positive.
However, it is crucial to objectively acknowledge the operational challenges as significant features, as they directly impact the client experience:
- Significant Wait Times: The "minimum 3-hour wait for any pick up" and the need to "spend 2 different days off to wait in the lobby total of 5 hours" for a pet highlights a major bottleneck in their processes. This is confirmed by locals in the lobby stating it's "normal."
- Disorganized Office Staff/Processes: Descriptions of staff "half check you in 6 different times by 6 different people," "every vet tech does half of a job," and lost paperwork suggest a need for more streamlined and efficient administrative and clinical workflows.
- Communication Gaps: The difficulty in having "an effective conversation with the office staff" and the feeling of a lack of "follow up, with no plan, no answers" for ongoing care are critical communication issues. The perceived focus on budget over comprehensive care ("if they exceed your budget they stop write in the spot") is a serious concern for clients.
Based on the reviews, the primary "promotional information" for the Animal Clinic, though perhaps not intentionally marketed this way, is their affordability for emergency and after-hours care. The stories of pets being saved without incurring exorbitant costs serve as powerful testimonials, attracting clients who might otherwise struggle to afford urgent veterinary services. Their willingness to "take your animal after hours" is also a significant selling point in a market where such services are often scarce or very expensive.
While traditional promotional materials might not be evident from the reviews, the clinic's reputation for being budget-friendly and accessible for emergencies is a strong driver of client acquisition. They likely accept various payment methods, but their pricing structure itself appears to be a key differentiator.
In conclusion, the Animal Clinic at 617 W Poplar St, Pulaski, TN, plays a vital role in the community by offering knowledgeable, compassionate, and notably affordable emergency and after-hours veterinary care. For pet owners facing critical situations who are also mindful of their budget, this clinic provides a life-saving resource. However, potential clients should be prepared for potential operational and communication challenges, including significant wait times and fragmented administrative processes, as noted by some local reviewers. While the quality of veterinary care itself is often highly praised, particularly the doctor's expertise and empathy for the animals, improving the client-facing experience during routine interactions and pick-ups could further enhance their overall service delivery. Despite these operational hurdles, the clinic's dedication to making emergency care financially accessible is a commendable and essential service to the pet-owning community of Pulaski and beyond.

May 11, 2025 · Elizabeth WilhoiteHow can I ever thank you enough?! Our girl was in serious pain and we truly thought our only financially sound option was going to be to put her down. You saved her life and by extension you saved my family from losing our beloved doggo!
Jan 09, 2025 · KateI love this vet!! My last visit was me having to say goodbye to my beloved boxer. She passed so peacefully because of him. He was so compassionate and caring. He did everything he could for her during her entire life, and I can't thank him enough. He takes care of my other 3 dogs as well. I truly would not take them anywhere else. It can be busy and hectic, but he's well worth the wait
Aug 30, 2023 · Tracy RouseWe have been with Dr. Galbraith and his awesome staff for over 10 years. The care our love ones receive is always top notch!
Feb 11, 2025 · jane fDr. Galbraith is a miracle worker. He saved my sweet Stella from parvo when she was just 4 months old. She turned 9 this year. I've sent at least three friends to him when they called, desperate for a miracle as they found themselves in that same, terrible situation. He didn't let any of them down. My Charlie cat managed to shatter his shoulder one night, and every "veterinary surgeon" I called wanted $90 just to talk to me. Dr. Galbraith put 2 pins and a rod in Charlie's shoulder, and justlikethat, he was right as rain. If you need a vet that is going to sit down and hold your hand, this isn't the place for you. While your fur baby is being examined, Dr. Galbraith will be answering questions from at least two of the people at the front desk, sending assistants to get the next animal and their owners, hollering prices and the treatment it relates to out to another person at the front desk so the person waiting can pay their bill, giving yet another assistant instructions about the cow or horse emergency that just pulled in out back, and fielding questions relayed from the incessant phone calls his office receives. But he knows you, and he knows your pet. He remembers everything. He will do everything within his beyond considerable power to save them, and he will be genuinely distressed in the event that they get to him too late to be saved. Finally, he doesn't expect the people who put their faith in him to take out a second mortgage in order to pay for his services. This place is one of a kind.
