I took my 8‑month‑old puppy to Alta Loma animal hospital on March 4th for kennel cough symptoms. At first, I was pleased with the visit, but things quickly went downhill. My dog finished her medication in about 6 days instead of the prescribed 10, so I called the hospital on March 11th to report the issue. They scheduled a recheck for the 12th, where the vet told me that the first vet had made a typo on the medicine bottle—it was supposed to be half a tab, not a whole one. This mistake was incredibly frustrating, but we were given a new prescription and sent on our way. They suggested I do an x-ray but after the medicine mistake, I had some distrust and I wanted to try this new medicine first before doing the x-ray. On the 21st, I brought her back for another recheck, and the experience was ridiculous. Dr. Mukand Sandhu I had the worst experience with. It felt as if he tried to scare me by talking about the possibility of my dog having canine distemper and how she could possibly have seizures and other serious complications. When I asked him how her lungs sounded, he said they sounded great. I then asked what tests were actually necessary at this point, yet he continued to push for a canine distemper test and an x-ray. He wrote up a hypothetical bill that would have been over $1,000 for tests and medications, including an extra charge just to have the x-ray interpreted because he couldn’t read it himself. I only paid for her recheck and to refill her medications because I didn’t trust his suggestions at all. I told the front desk staff—who were kind and helpful—that my frustration wasn’t with them but with the hospital itself. Everything felt like they were more interested in monetizing my dog’s illness than actually helping her get better. Today (March 26th), I gave up and took her to BajaPet in Mexico, where I received amazing, transparent care. The vet had a complete opposite opinion of Dr. Mukand Sandhu’s. The Mexico vet said he definitely heard something going on with one of her lungs and at the end it turns out she had mild pneumonia! I’m beyond frustrated that I wasted so much time and money at Alta Loma animal hospital.

At Alta Loma Animal Hospital, the environment is designed to be welcoming and comfortable for both pets and their owners. While specific details about the clinic's ambiance are not explicitly mentioned in the provided information, reputable veterinary hospitals typically strive to create a clean, organized, and calming atmosphere to minimize stress for animals. This often includes separate waiting areas for different types of animals (e.g., dogs and cats), comfortable examination rooms, and state-of-the-art facilities for diagnostics and treatment.
The services offered at Alta Loma Animal Hospital cover a broad spectrum of veterinary needs. These typically include routine wellness examinations and vaccinations to help prevent common diseases and maintain your pet's optimal health. The hospital is also equipped to handle sick visits, providing thorough examinations and diagnostic testing to identify and treat various illnesses. For pets requiring surgical intervention, Alta Loma Animal Hospital likely offers a range of surgical procedures, from routine spays and neuters to more complex soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. Diagnostic capabilities are crucial in veterinary care, and Alta Loma Animal Hospital likely utilizes advanced tools such as digital radiography (X-rays) and laboratory services to aid in accurate and timely diagnoses. Dental care is another vital aspect of pet health, and the hospital may offer services such as teeth cleaning, polishing, and extractions.
Based on the available customer reviews, Alta Loma Animal Hospital presents a mixed picture of its features. One recurring positive aspect highlighted by a reviewer is the kindness and helpfulness of the front desk staff. This suggests a commitment to providing good customer service and a welcoming initial point of contact for pet owners. Additionally, the same reviewer specifically praised Dr. Moussa for his informative approach to pet care, indicating a willingness to answer questions thoroughly and make pet owners feel safe and comfortable. The availability of grooming services is also mentioned as a positive feature, offering pet owners the convenience of addressing their pet's hygiene needs in the same location where they receive medical care.
However, it is essential to acknowledge the concerns raised in another detailed review. This customer reported a significant medication error, which understandably led to frustration and a loss of trust. Furthermore, the reviewer expressed dissatisfaction with the diagnostic recommendations and communication style of one of the veterinarians, Dr. Mukand Sandhu. The experience described suggests a potential disconnect between the perceived need for extensive testing and the clarity of the explanations provided. The reviewer's decision to seek a second opinion and subsequent diagnosis of mild pneumonia in Mexico highlights the importance of thorough and accurate assessments.
It is important for prospective clients to consider both the positive and negative feedback when evaluating Alta Loma Animal Hospital. The positive comments regarding the staff's kindness and Dr. Moussa's communicative approach suggest that positive experiences are indeed possible. The availability of grooming services adds to the convenience for pet owners. However, the serious concerns raised about the medication error and the perceived push for unnecessary testing warrant careful consideration. It is advisable for pet owners to communicate openly and ask detailed questions about their pet's condition, proposed treatments, and associated costs to ensure they feel comfortable and confident in the care their pet is receiving.
As promotional information is not explicitly provided in the reviews, we can infer that Alta Loma Animal Hospital likely aims to attract local users by emphasizing its comprehensive services, experienced veterinary team (including the well-regarded Dr. Moussa), and convenient location. In conclusion, Alta Loma Animal Hospital, categorized as a Pet Hospital, offers a range of veterinary services to the local community in Alta Loma, California. While the hospital has received positive feedback regarding its front desk staff, Dr. Moussa, and grooming services, potential clients should also be aware of the concerns raised in one review regarding a medication error and communication issues with another veterinarian. It is recommended to conduct thorough research and direct communication with the hospital to determine if it meets your individual pet care needs and preferences.

Mar 27, 2025 · Giselle GonzalezI have mentioned Alta Loma Animal Hospital to friends and family due to their kind staff. Other places have dismissed my extensive questions about my pet's care, but ALAH always informs me. Big thank you to Dr. Moussa as well. I feel safe and comfortable taking my dog to see him each time. Additionally, their grooming services and staff are awesome!
Oct 04, 2024 · Emily CDr. Moussa and the entire staff at Alta Loma Animal Hospital are terrific! We've been taking our pets there for over 25 years. They're great with both dogs and cats. When we first got our cats, we had no idea what we were doing. Dr. Moussa provided us with information to help us with 2-week old kittens that eventually lived to almost 23 years old. The groomer (Liz) did fantastic jobs on our 2 long-haired cats (Nugget and Lala). Our cats always looked and smelled great after their grooming appointments with Liz. The staff is friendly and shows compassion. I really appreciated the support Caroline, Cat, Bailey, Joanne, and the entire staff showed, especially during the time (12/30/24-2/18/25) we had to put Lala and then Rustee down. Highly recommend Alta Loma Animal Hospital!
Mar 11, 2025 · Nina LovellFirst and foremost, thank you Dr Moussa for all your hard work and dedication, as well as Carolyn for being so patient and explaining the process and answering all my questions and just keeping me calm throughout this process. I came to them to have our kitten neutered, I also have used Alta Loma Animal Hospital in the past for my other 2 fur babies and have had experience with their staff, I believe their staff has changed as I saw a lot of new faces and they were so great, very kind and welcoming. I did have an unpleasant experience with someone named Desire that answers calls, both my husband and I called in 2 separate occasions and it almost feels like we were bothering her, it’s an unpleasant feeling when someone like me that has a lot of trauma from my other fur babies going in and out of the vet and eventually passing to experience, it creates more anxiousness for me. Other than this, I am grateful for the staff for being polite, caring, and patient. I will continue to highly recommend.
