I cannot say enough about this place, especially the Oncology team. My dog was recently diagnosed with lymphoma, so we came here to consult about chemotherapy and start treatment. Dr. Tsimbas answered all of the questions I had with so much patience, she was so thorough with everything and made me feel so welcome. Her nurses, Jacque and Raynalda, we’re amazing and so sweet to my dog. He was wagging his tail and had a great time while he was there. I feel so lucky to have found this team, and they earned my trust in such a short time. I would recommend anybody who’s seeking treatment for cancer in their pets to come here.

I took my dog, who was presenting the following symptoms: lethargic, dehydrated, lack of appetite, and kidney and liver issues. This came out of the blue. He was perfectly okay from day to day. Monday, I took him to AVC. The lady at the front desk was incredibly nice and friendly with me. However, the vet never tried to stabilize my dog and hydrate him even when I told them that his pee was very dark yellow. That was the very first thing that she should have took care of. They have had my dog for over 3 1/2 hours, and the only test they did was glucose, I already gave to her blood test from one day before. The vet asked me what he had eaten; I told her nothing bad that I’m aware of. She never tried to do a detox even when my dog was presenting all the intoxication symptoms. The technician first came with an estimate of $800 on tests. I said yes, go ahead, then she came back with an estimate of over $4,000 plus $800 per night of hospitalizations, plus medication. I asked to speak with the vet. My husband, who unfortunately was out of town, spoke with her on the phone and asked her what the best options were for our dog. She told him that it was going to be a long project with no guarantee of the outcome and that he was suffering so much. So we were against the wall, either compromising to spend up to $10,000 with no positive outcome or putting him down. We took the difficult decision to put him down. I sent the information about my dog’s symptoms to my sister; she took the information to her vet back in Mexico, and he told her that it was a clearly intoxication symptoms and that the very first thing that should have been done was stabilizing him with fluids. But no, instead of that, the vet couldn’t even put one and one together and begin with fluids. Her concern was about money, and after several tests, maybe they could figure it out. My dog would be alive today if the vet had been more humane and assertive in her diagnosis. Since when have vets become so detached from human and animal pain? The options are either spending thousands of dollars or putting a pet down. Our heart is broken, and we can’t forgive ourselves for giving up so easily on him. He was a dog rescued from being on death row; he overcame so much to be put down just because a vet couldn’t do the very basic thing

All of the Doctors at AVC are amazing and the entirety of the in-hospital staff cares about your pet. I also wanted to shout-out Sydney for being an amazing triage technician, as well as Dr. Cichocki for preforming my dog Mocha's tail amputation surgery so swiftly. Unfortunately, with any emergency room (human or animal) the prices can be incredibly high due to the number of man power and resources that are required to keep it up and running 24/7. I mean have you seen how much it costs for an ambulance ride?!?!?! To be blunt, if you own a pet and DO NOT have a backup financial plan in case of injury/illness, then you're the problem, not the veterinary staff. Owning a pet is a luxury, not a necessity. Get pet insurance or open a savings account dedicated to pet emergencies. If you do not have the funds to take care of yourself, then you simply do not have the funds to take care of a pet. Do the research on how much it ACTUALLY costs to own a pet BEFORE you adopt/purchase one. Everyone from the front of the hospital to the back wants what is best for your pet and nothing more. As someone in the Veterinary field/majoring in Pre-Vet, the staff's (very low) salaries are not based on the treatments/diagnostics preformed on the pet, it's simply an hourly wage that people in the Veterinary field choose to settle for because they have a passion for helping animals. If you have an issue with the way things are run or if you are upset about the prices, it's important to contact corporate (who actually has control over those things), rather than taking it out on the underpaid employees that are simply there for you and your pet's wellbeing. Veterinary professionals have an insanely high suicide rate compared to other professions. Please be kind to those who are trying to help you and your babies.

I took my cat here and ultimately had to have him put down. This wasn't the fault of AVC, but the way they handled it was horrible. 1. They told me when I was leaving initially that I could pay when I took my cat home (Didn't know he was dying at this point). About 2-3 hours later they call me to tell me I need to pay them immediately if I wanted them to test the cat at all. I couldn't do that, as I only have apple pay, I don't have a card number I could have given them. Then they call back and ask why I had a problem with paying at the end?? So there had to be a few levels of miscommunication between staff at this point. 2. Once they determined my cat was going to die the vet (Dr. Martinez) legitimately laughed while explaining to me his symptoms. I don't know if it was a nervous laugh or what but it was extremely unsettling. Once I got there to put my cat down he was not in a private room, and there were about 5 random employees all chatting, laughing, and getting their lunches, acting like we were pests for being emotional while saying goodbye. Finally after putting the cat down Dr. Martinez asked us if we wanted to go back and "visit with" the dead body about 3 times, again extremely unsettling. I understand that some people may want to do this, but we told him no 3 separate times. During the entire experience it seemed like Dr. Martinez and the vet staff could not care less that we lost our cat, and just wanted us out and our money in their pockets. However, I would like to explicitly call out three people that did their best and genuinely seemed to care and feel for us, those three are a tech named Kayla, a nurse named Justin, and a front office woman who I cannot remember the name of, all I remember was she was a heavier woman with short grey hair. Those three are the only people that we interacted with, with a shred of humanity. Attached a photo of our cat so you can see him too.

AVC was extremely helpful in a scary situation with my 11 month old pup. It was after hours, almost midnight and my regular vet was closed. My pup ate a handful of raisins that someone left outside in my apartment parking lot and they are toxic to dogs. All the staff here were great, informative and they handled the situation very quickly and efficiently. They were able to help my pup by inducing vomiting and making sure he was hydrated. I was only there for about an hour at most. Highly recommend this place.
