Jenn Memorial Park, this premier dog park offers an exclusive, membership-based experience that ensures a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and community for both dogs and their human counterparts.

Unlike open-access public parks, Waggin' Tails Bark Park operates on a registration system that requires all dogs to be up-to-date on their vaccinations. Many locals find this controlled environment to be a significant advantage, fostering a community of friendly dogs and equally friendly people.

Waggin' Tails Bark Park is conveniently situated in Indianapolis, Indiana, making it a highly accessible destination for residents within the city and surrounding areas, particularly those in the Lawrence community. You can find this excellent facility at 10450 E 63rd St, Indianapolis, IN 46236, USA. This address places it squarely within the Louis J. Jenn Memorial Park, a well-known and valued green space in the area.

Accessing Waggin' Tails Bark Park is straightforward by car, with ample parking typically available within Louis J. Jenn Memorial Park. It's important for prospective visitors to remember that this is a membership-only park. Entry requires a key fob, which is issued upon successful registration and payment of the membership fee. For Indianapolis locals who become members, the park's convenient location ensures that a safe and engaging off-leash experience is always within easy reach.

Services Offered

Waggin' Tails Bark Park provides a range of specific services that cater to its membership model, ensuring a high-quality and managed environment for its canine visitors and their owners.

  • Secure, Fenced Off-Leash Area: The park offers a dedicated, fully fenced space where dogs can run freely without a leash. This security is paramount for safe off-leash play.
  • Membership Registration and Key Fob Access: A key service is the structured membership process, requiring registration and the issuance of a proximity reader (key fob) for entry. This system helps manage park capacity and ensures only registered members can access the facilities.
  • Mandatory Vaccination Checks: To maintain a healthy environment, the park requires proof of current vaccinations (typically Rabies, Parvo, Distemper, and Bordetella/Kennel Cough) for all registered dogs. This service significantly reduces the risk of disease transmission.
  • Fresh Water Fountains: The park features a convenient "double-bubbler" water fountain that serves both humans and canines. This amenity ensures that both dogs and their owners can stay hydrated during their visit.
  • Waste Disposal Stations: While not explicitly stated in provided reviews, membership parks typically offer readily available pet waste bags and disposal bins to promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership.
  • Access to Obstacle Training Equipment: The park includes various obstacle training equipment, allowing dogs to engage in agility exercises and mental stimulation.
Features / Highlights

Waggin' Tails Bark Park boasts several features and highlights that contribute to its reputation as a preferred dog park among Indianapolis locals.

  • Obstacle Training Equipment: A notable feature is the presence of obstacle training equipment. This allows dogs to engage in agility activities, providing mental and physical stimulation beyond simple running.
  • Spacious Play Area: The park offers ample room for dogs to run and play freely, a crucial aspect for energetic pups needing to expend energy in a safe, open environment.
  • Benches for Human Companions: Comfortable benches are provided for owners, allowing them to relax and observe their dogs while enjoying the outdoors.
  • Dual-Purpose Water Fountain: The innovative double-bubbler water fountain serves both humans and canines, ensuring convenient hydration for everyone.
  • Limited Memberships for Quality Control: The park limits the number of annual memberships (e.g., to 500 humans), which can help prevent overcrowding and maintain a higher quality experience for members.
  • Positive Social Environment: Reviews often highlight the presence of "nice people and fun dogs," indicating that the membership model helps foster a respectful and enjoyable community within the park.
  • Location within Louis J. Jenn Memorial Park: Being situated within a larger park complex can offer additional amenities nearby, such as walking trails or green spaces, potentially extending the outdoor experience for visitors.
Promotions or Special Offers

Waggin' Tails Bark Park, as a membership-based facility operated by the City of Lawrence (Indianapolis area), offers its value through its structured annual passes rather than traditional promotions.

  • Annual Membership Rates: The park provides a clear pricing structure for its annual memberships. The initial membership fee is $60 per dog, which includes the key fob for access.
  • Renewal Discount: For returning members, there's a renewal discount, with subsequent annual memberships costing $45 per dog. This encourages long-term engagement with the park.
  • Vaccination Compliance for Safety: While not a financial discount, the mandatory requirement for up-to-date vaccinations (Rabies, Parvo, Distemper, Bordetella) for each dog serves as a significant "offer" for a safer and healthier play environment for all canine members.
  • Access to a Secure, Monitored Environment: The membership structure itself is the core "special offer," providing an exclusive and more controlled dog park experience compared to public, free-access parks, which can offer greater peace of mind for responsible pet owners.

To apply for a membership, residents typically need to bring a completed application form and proof of residency (like a Lawrence water bill) to the City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department. Easy to access park. (Requires registration with the park service of Lawrence to receive a key tag). Loads of space, a great dog/human water fountain, and some nice benches. We've not yet been there when other dogs are there which is both positive and negative.

The park is in good condition, and every person/ dog we've met there has been nice. They only real complaint (and it's a big one) is that the gate lock is garbage. People can get in and out without a key way too easily, and the city really needs to fix it. There's also a lot of uncleaned dog "piles" left by inattentive people.

There aren't really activities for dogs to do here. The area right in front of the entrance had no grass, so when it rains, it becomes a huge mud puddle that dogs always run through. Half of the time, even in great weather, there is no one here. I hate taking my dog for her to run around by herself and look anxiously out the gate for another dog
