I give this park 3 stars, because I would only recommend people to go out of pure convenience for their dogs and the owner as it may be close to someone's home. Two apartment buildings surround the park on the sides. There's only parking for 2 cars. It's probably better to go walking especially if it's busy. There's 1 bag station (for the dog's #2) in the whole park and 1 small area for sitting (small metal bench near the entrance). Additionally, when you enter, there's a lot of sand. It is recommended to wear closed shoes to avoid sand on your feet. Finally, it's kinda dirty because people don't bother picking up after their dogs and there is large feces everywhere. I mean everywhere, so watch your step! I recommend going to Al Lopez park dog's park or West Tampa Dog Park instead. They are much bigger and nicer for your dog. Again, only recommending Temple Terrace Dog Park for convenience of proximity to your home.

Welcome to Temple Terrace Dog park
For Florida dog owners, especially those in the vibrant Tampa Bay area, finding a suitable spot for their furry companions to stretch their legs is an ongoing consideration. Temple Terrace Dog Park, located at 5010 E 122nd Ave, Temple Terrace, FL 33617, presents itself as a readily available option for residents in its immediate vicinity. As professional content writers specializing in local business SEO, we understand that convenience often plays a significant role in where locals choose to take their pets. While larger, more amenity-rich parks like Al Lopez Park Dog Park or West Tampa Dog Park are often recommended for their expansive features, Temple Terrace Dog Park serves a specific niche: providing a nearby, accessible space for quick dog outings.
This park is primarily defined by its proximity to residential areas, making it a practical choice for daily exercise for many locals. It's a place where you can quickly bring your dog for an off-leash run without a lengthy commute, which can be invaluable for busy schedules or spontaneous playtimes. In this article, we'll provide a factual and comprehensive overview of Temple Terrace Dog Park, detailing its location, what it offers, and crucial considerations for local users. Our goal is to equip Tampa and Temple Terrace residents with the knowledge to decide if this neighborhood spot aligns with their needs and expectations for their canine companions.
Temple Terrace Dog Park is situated at 5010 E 122nd Ave, Temple Terrace, FL 33617, USA. Its location is particularly notable for its immediate surroundings: it is flanked by two apartment buildings. This proximity to residential complexes underscores its identity as a true neighborhood dog park, designed to serve the convenience of those living within walking distance. For residents of these adjacent apartments and nearby homes, the park offers an unparalleled level of accessibility, making spontaneous or routine dog walks incredibly easy.
However, this convenience comes with a caveat regarding parking. User reviews indicate that there is only parking available for approximately two cars. This limited parking means that during busier times, or even during off-peak hours if both spots are taken, visitors might find it challenging to park directly at the park. For this reason, it is "probably better to go walking, especially if it's busy," as noted by a local user. This reinforces the idea that the park is best utilized by those who can access it on foot, further solidifying its role as a hyper-local amenity. Its location within a residential area also means it's generally quiet, away from major thoroughfares, offering a more peaceful environment for dogs and their owners, provided parking isn't an issue.
Temple Terrace Dog Park offers fundamental services typical of a neighborhood dog park, albeit on a smaller scale:
- Off-Leash Play Area: The primary service is providing a designated space where dogs can be off-leash, allowing them to run, play, and interact with other dogs. This is essential for their physical exercise and socialization needs.
- Dog Waste Bag Station: The park includes "1 bag station (for the dog's #2)." While only one is noted, its presence indicates an effort to encourage responsible pet ownership and maintain cleanliness, although user reviews suggest this is not always effective.
- Limited Seating for Owners: There is "1 small area for sitting (small metal bench near the entrance)." This provides a basic spot for owners to rest while supervising their dogs.
- Absence of Water for Dogs: It's crucial for visitors to note that they should "bring your own water for dogs." There are no readily available water fountains for canine hydration within the park.
While Temple Terrace Dog Park may not boast extensive features found in larger municipal dog parks, its highlights center on its direct utility for nearby residents:
- Proximity to Residential Buildings: Its most significant highlight is its direct adjacency to apartment buildings. This makes it incredibly convenient for residents living immediately next to the park, offering a very short commute for daily dog walks and play.
- Convenience for Locals: As highlighted in multiple reviews, the park's primary appeal is its "convenience of proximity to your home" or "real close to my job site." This makes it an ideal spot for a quick, impromptu visit rather than a planned, extended outing.
- Compact Size: While some might see this as a drawback, for owners of dogs who prefer smaller, less overwhelming spaces, or for a quick potty break and stretch, the park's compact size can be a benefit. It offers a contained environment.
- Sand Element: Upon entering, visitors will notice "a lot of sand." While this might be a preference for some dogs who enjoy digging or rolling in sand, it also comes with the recommendation to "wear closed shoes to avoid sand on your feet." This unique ground cover provides a different tactile experience for dogs compared to purely grassy parks.
As a public municipal park, Temple Terrace Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions, discounts, or special loyalty programs. Its purpose is to provide a free, accessible recreational space for the community. Therefore, residents should not anticipate finding direct sales, membership deals, or coupon codes from the park itself.
Any "special offers" or events would likely be community-driven or organized by local pet-related businesses or non-profits, rather than the park management. For instance, a nearby pet store might host a pop-up event, or a local rescue group might hold an adoption drive in a community space that happens to be near the park. These would not be direct promotions from Temple Terrace Dog Park. For locals interested in such opportunities, it's advisable to monitor community boards, local Temple Terrace social media groups for pet owners, or the official website of the City of Temple Terrace Parks and Recreation Department for any announcements regarding pet-friendly events in the area. This approach will provide the most accurate information on any value-added activities that might coincide with a visit to the park.
For Temple Terrace Dog Park, the primary contact details are:
Address: 5010 E 122nd Ave, Temple Terrace, FL 33617, USA
Phone: (813) 506-6600
Mobile Phone: +1 813-506-6600
It is important to note that the provided phone numbers (813) 506-6600 and +1 813-506-6600 typically route to the City of Temple Terrace Parks & Recreation Department or general city services. This is standard for public municipal parks, as dedicated phone lines for individual dog parks are uncommon. For specific inquiries regarding park maintenance, rules, or community concerns, contacting the City of Temple Terrace Parks and Recreation Department directly is the most effective approach. They can provide official information on park operations and address any issues.
Temple Terrace Dog Park is uniquely suitable for locals in Florida, specifically for residents of Temple Terrace and its immediate surrounding areas, largely due to its unparalleled convenience. For those living in the adjacent apartment buildings or within a very short walking distance, this park serves as an essential, easily accessible spot for their dogs to get quick exercise and social interaction. In a state like Florida, where temperatures can be high, the ability to take your dog out for a brief run without a long drive is a significant advantage, making it a practical choice for daily routines.
While user reviews highlight some areas for improvement, such as cleanliness issues due to unpicked waste and limited amenities like water fountains and parking, the park's primary utility as a "convenience" location remains paramount. It caters to the need for a close-to-home off-leash area, which can be invaluable for dog owners with busy schedules, those who prefer not to drive, or dogs who simply need a quick stretch and potty break. For residents who understand and accept its limitations, Temple Terrace Dog Park offers a fundamental space for canine activity right in their neighborhood. It underscores the local spirit of providing accessible green spaces, even if modest, for the community's beloved pets, making it a valuable, albeit no-frills, asset for its immediate local users in Temple Terrace.

Jun 03, 2022 · Travler561Love this secluded park. And l would not really call it a park, it's a fenced off area, kind of small compared to a park, but totally fenced in and big enough for my davhsunds to run around!! It's pretty private and secluded, nestled in a just deep enough into a residential neighborhood that you have privacy but still super close to fowler amd 56th. the only times I have ran into other people here walking their dogs was at dusk.
Aug 08, 2024 · Nikki MullinoIt’s not huge and there’s no water faucet for your dogs. But, it’s a decent size for the fur babies to run.
Sep 23, 2024 · Alejandra GonzalezQuiet park in the vacinity of several apartments. It has two long narrow runs with plenty of shade. Waste bags were available, and from the appearance, they were being used. As I was an out of state guest, parking could be a problem. Ensure to bring water, I didn't notice any water stations.
