This basic dog park has 2 enclosures, one for large and one for small dogs. Both have shaded picnic tables, thick grassy area and a fire hydrant for the dog to do their stuff on. Down side is that there is no water or watering trough. There is no easy access up to the bathrooms that are at the top of a very steep hill. Once you get up there, the pet water fountain does not work. The concrete walking path that leads up to the dog park is winding and far from the parking lot.

Welcome to Sunnyslope Dog Park

For dog owners in Peoria, Arizona, finding a convenient and dedicated space for their furry companions to stretch their legs and socialize is an everyday need. Sunnyslope Dog Park, located at 7116 W Olive Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345, USA, offers a straightforward yet valuable solution. While it might be described as a "basic dog park" by some, its core offerings of separate play areas, shaded seating, and grassy expanses make it a functional and appreciated spot for local canine residents and their human counterparts.

Sunnyslope Dog Park features two distinct, fenced enclosures: one designated for large dogs and another for smaller breeds. This thoughtful separation allows dogs of different sizes and energy levels to play safely and comfortably, minimizing potential conflicts. Within both enclosures, visitors will find "shaded picnic tables," providing a welcome respite from the Arizona sun for owners while their pups burn off energy. The presence of a "thick grassy area" is another significant draw, offering a softer and more appealing surface for paws than the typical dirt or decomposed granite found in many desert parks.

While the park provides essential amenities, it's worth noting areas where visitors have suggested improvements. Some reviews mention the lack of readily accessible water within the dog park enclosures, and challenges with getting to the main restrooms located "at the top of a very steep hill" where the pet water fountain may not always be operational. Furthermore, the walking path from the parking lot to the dog park can be "winding and far," and there are "no lights" for evening use, which can be a consideration during the hotter months when cooler evening play is desired.

Despite these noted drawbacks, Sunnyslope Dog Park remains a utilized community asset. Its primary strengths lie in its dedicated, separated spaces, its green turf, and the presence of shade within the play areas. For Peoria residents looking for a simple, functional, and grassy off-leash environment for their dogs, Sunnyslope Dog Park continues to serve its purpose as a reliable neighborhood option.

Location and Accessibility

Sunnyslope Dog Park is situated at 7116 W Olive Ave, Peoria, AZ 85345, USA. This address places it in a developed area of Peoria, making it a convenient option for residents in the immediate vicinity and surrounding neighborhoods. The park is part of the larger Sunnyslope Park complex.

While the park is centrally located for many Peoria locals, accessibility details are important to note. Reviewers indicate that the concrete walking path leading up to the dog park from the parking lot can be "winding and far," which might require a bit of a walk before reaching the fenced areas. This could be a consideration for owners with mobility issues or those managing multiple dogs and supplies.

Parking is available at the broader Sunnyslope Park, and typically dog park visitors utilize these shared parking facilities. However, the distance from the parking lot to the dog park entrance is a common point of feedback. It's advisable for visitors to prepare for this walk, especially during warmer parts of the day, and ensure their dogs are leashed until safely inside the designated off-leash areas. Despite these navigational nuances, its location within an established city park means it is a known and relatively easy-to-find destination for Peoria's dog-owning community.

I like the size, the seating, and the fact that the grass is kept up. However being that it's an older park there are no lights and no access to water.

I haven't been to the Park in quite awhile. I need Asst to walk any distance & it is Dangerous to Cross the Streets. But I used to take a Little Doggie there years ago. It is a very nice park. The Dogs & People seem to Enjoy it.

The Sunnyslope Dog Park has two large fenced in areas for dogs to play and interact with other dogs. It also has a playground for children, basketball court, and tennis court. It's a fun family park with public restrooms.
