This is a very nice dog park. There are double gates entering to prevent dogs from eloping. There are 2 separate areas. A large dog area and a small dog area. There are water bowls, a hose, and a covered pavilion with picnic tables. There are quite a few tennis balls people leave there and a ball thrower. The ground is covered with pine bark. I didn't see any poop left behind. The area was very clean.

For those of us living in the Port Orange area, Seemor Memorial Park (Dog Park) has quickly become a beloved local amenity. It perfectly encapsulates what dog owners are looking for: a secure environment where dogs can exercise off-leash, interact with other canines, and burn off that boundless energy that's so characteristic of our Florida pups. The park's commitment to cleanliness and safety, as highlighted by numerous local visitors, sets it apart and makes it a reliable choice for your weekly or even daily outings. It’s a place where tails wag, new friendships are forged (both canine and human!), and the joy of simple, unrestrained play is always in the air.

One of the most immediate impressions visitors get from Seemor Memorial Park is its well-thought-out layout. As one satisfied user noted, "This is a very nice dog park. There are double gates entering to prevent dogs from eloping. There are 2 separate areas. A large dog area and a small dog area." This dual-area design is crucial for ensuring that all dogs, regardless of size or temperament, have a comfortable and safe space to play. Small dogs can romp without feeling overwhelmed by larger, more boisterous playmates, while big dogs have ample room to stretch their legs. This thoughtful separation, combined with other essential amenities, creates an environment where both pets and their owners can truly enjoy their time at the park, fostering a positive and friendly atmosphere within our Port Orange community.

Beyond the practical aspects, Seemor Memorial Park also embodies the spirit of community that we cherish in Florida. It's a gathering place where neighbors meet, share stories, and watch their dogs thrive. The presence of shared items like tennis balls and the overall clean environment speak volumes about the respectful and considerate nature of the park's regular visitors. This makes every trip to Seemor Memorial Park more than just an errand; it becomes a pleasant social outing. It's truly a testament to how a well-designed public space can enhance the lives of both two-legged and four-legged residents in our beautiful Port Orange.

Services Offered

Seemor Memorial Park (Dog Park) provides a range of essential services designed to ensure a comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experience for both dogs and their owners. These services cater to the core needs of a public dog park, making it a highly functional and appealing amenity for the Port Orange community:

  • Off-Leash Play Areas: The park features a dedicated, secure space where dogs can run freely and safely without leashes, allowing for vital exercise and socialization.

  • Separate Large and Small Dog Sections: To enhance safety and comfort, the park is intelligently divided into two distinct, fully fenced areas: one for large dogs and another for smaller breeds. This separation minimizes potential conflicts and allows dogs to play with peers of similar size and energy levels.

  • Double-Gated Entry System: For added security, the entrance to the dog park utilizes a double-gate system. This crucial feature prevents dogs from accidentally slipping out when other visitors are entering or exiting, offering peace of mind to owners.

  • Water Access for Dogs: Hydration is critical, especially in Florida's climate. The park provides water bowls and a hose, ensuring that fresh drinking water is readily available for all canine visitors, allowing owners to easily keep their pets hydrated.

  • Covered Pavilion with Picnic Tables: A covered pavilion offers a shaded respite from the sun, complete with picnic tables. This allows owners to relax, socialize, and observe their dogs in comfort, even on warm days.

  • Public Restrooms: Conveniently located within the larger Seemor Memorial Park complex, clean public restrooms are available for human visitors, enhancing the overall convenience of a park visit.

  • Waste Stations: Maintaining a clean environment is a priority, and the park is equipped with multiple waste stations, including bag dispensers and disposal bins, encouraging responsible pet ownership and ensuring a pleasant experience for all.

  • Free Entry: As a public park operated by the City of Port Orange, Seemor Memorial Park (Dog Park) offers free admission, making it an accessible and economical option for all local dog owners.

  • Tennis Balls and Ball Thrower Available: A delightful feature, the presence of shared tennis balls and even a ball thrower adds an extra layer of fun for high-energy dogs who love to fetch. This thoughtful touch encourages interactive play.

  • Pine Bark Ground Cover: The ground is covered with pine bark, which serves as a relatively soft and draining surface. While one reviewer noted it could be "difficult to walk on through," it generally helps manage moisture and keeps the park cleaner than bare dirt, though opinions on specific textures can vary.

  • Shade and Seating: The covered pavilion with picnic tables offers much-needed shade and seating in Florida's sunny climate, allowing owners to comfortably supervise their pets during longer visits.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a public dog park managed by the City of Port Orange, Seemor Memorial Park (Dog Park) does not typically offer commercial promotions, discounts, or special offers in the way a private business might. Its primary "offer" to the community is the provision of a free, well-maintained, and safe environment for dogs to play off-leash. This in itself is a significant benefit to local residents.

However, the City of Port Orange Parks and Recreation department, which oversees Seemor Memorial Park, may occasionally host or support community-focused events related to pets or responsible dog ownership. These might include:

  • Community pet expos or fairs: Sometimes held in larger park areas, these events could involve local pet businesses, animal shelters, or veterinarians.

  • Educational workshops: Occasional sessions on dog training, pet health, or responsible park etiquette might be organized.

  • Adoption events: Local animal shelters might use the park or a nearby area within Seemor Memorial Park for adoption drives.

  • Maintenance closure announcements: While not a promotion, announcements about the monthly maintenance closure (first Wednesday) are a form of public service that helps visitors plan their trips effectively.

For information on any such community events or special programs that might involve Seemor Memorial Park (Dog Park), local residents should consult the official City of Port Orange Parks and Recreation website or their social media channels. These are the most reliable sources for up-to-date information regarding park-related activities beyond daily use.

Cute little dog park, right next to a playground. Lots of friendly visitors (: tennis balls for the dogs. Also a large and a small dog area that's separated. Water stations for them as well. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the huge mulch chips. Difficult to walk onthrough. Restrooms for public use. Overall a great little park to check out!

I've never brought my dog to this dog park, however, I see a lot of people that do bring there dog here. They have a pavilion right next to the dog park with a grill which Iis nice. They also have walking trails in the park where you can bring your dog with you. I highly recommend this park, with or without a dog. Its always peaceful here.

Nice dog park with plenty of benches and shade to let the pups run. Same problem that plagues most dog parks is too many owners don’t know how to train or control their dogs.
