This is my favorite dog park. The best part is the walking trails within it that allow you to walk your dog off-leash within the perimeter. There's also a massive open field with some standard dog park obstacle course type items, and a smaller fenced in area for little dogs to play in. If you want other dogs to be there when you visit, there are always some between 4-6pm and throughout much of the weekend.

Welcome to Plymouth Dog Park
For dog owners across Minnesota, finding the perfect spot where their furry friends can truly run, play, and explore off-leash is a cherished part of pet parenthood. If you’re in the Twin Cities area, particularly near Plymouth, you're in luck! Plymouth Dog Park stands out as a premier destination, consistently praised by locals for its expansive layout, diverse features, and vibrant community atmosphere. It's more than just a fenced-in area; it's a true adventure park designed for canine joy and human enjoyment.
Plymouth Dog Park offers a remarkable experience that caters to a wide range of dogs and their owners. What sets it apart is its generous size and varied terrain. Unlike some smaller urban parks, Plymouth provides ample room for dogs to really stretch their legs and engage in vigorous play. As one enthusiastic visitor shared, "This is my favorite dog park. The best part is the walking trails within it that allow you to walk your dog off-leash within the perimeter. There's also a massive open field with some standard dog park obstacle course type items, and a smaller fenced in area for little dogs to play in." This highlights the park's versatility, offering everything from long walks to energetic sprints and even agility challenges.
The park is also known for its active and friendly community. If you're looking for social interaction for your pup, you'll find it here. "If you want other dogs to be there when you visit, there are always some between 4-6pm and throughout much of the weekend," a reviewer noted, indicating consistent opportunities for your dog to make new friends. While some smaller dog owners have experienced challenges with larger dogs in the shared areas or on the way to the dedicated small dog section ("We have an 11lb dog and we had to carry her to the small park area. With so many bigger dogs we ran into on the way to the small dog area, they all wanted to play with her but she prefers the small guys and she was very intimidated. Once in the small dog area, there are a few bigger dogs in there too - 40lbs-ish each. They made it tough for our little one to relax and check things out. We left shortly after arriving and probably don't need to visit there again."), the park endeavors to offer suitable spaces for all. Its natural beauty is also a frequent highlight, with visitors describing it as a "beautiful area, nice and quiet too." Despite some observations about areas not being fully fenced beyond the small dog section or the gravel parking lot being pitted, the overall consensus points to Plymouth Dog Park being a fantastic and essential resource for dog lovers in the area.
Location and Accessibility

Any specific events or programs that might occur at the park would typically be organized by the City of Plymouth Parks and Recreation Department. Locals are encouraged to visit the official City of Plymouth website or contact their Parks and Recreation department directly (using the phone number provided) for information on any community-led events, pet-related workshops, or temporary initiatives that might be considered "special offers" in a broader sense. Conclusion: Why this place is suitable for locals
For dog owners living in Minnesota, particularly within Plymouth and the surrounding Twin Cities suburbs, Plymouth Dog Park is an exceptionally suitable and highly recommended destination. Its most compelling feature is its sheer size and diverse offerings. In a region where outdoor space is cherished, having a massive, multi-faceted off-leash park that includes both wide-open fields and winding wooded trails for off-leash walking is an invaluable asset. This variety ensures that every dog, from the energetic retriever to the curious scent hound, can find an activity that truly stimulates them, promoting both physical and mental well-being.
The presence of a dedicated small dog area, while sometimes experiencing visits from larger dogs, still offers a generally safer and more comfortable environment for smaller breeds compared to fully co-mingled spaces. Amenities like water fountains, poop bags, and obstacles further enhance the convenience and enjoyability of each visit for local pet parents. The consistent presence of other dogs, especially during popular times, provides crucial socialization opportunities, fostering well-adjusted pets and a friendly community among owners.
Despite minor considerations like the unpaved parking lot or the occasional presence of larger dogs in the small dog area, the overwhelming positive sentiment from locals underscores the park's importance. It's a place where Minnesota dogs can truly experience freedom, exercise, and social interaction in a natural setting close to home. Plymouth Dog Park is more than just a dog park; it’s a vital part of the local pet-friendly landscape, contributing significantly to the quality of life for canine companions and their devoted human families in the community.

Jan 18, 2024 · Tom CarlsonSuch a beautiful area, driven by many times and finally stopped. We have an 11lb dog and we had to carry her to the small park area. We left shortly after arriving and probably don't need to visit there again. The park does not seem to be fully fenced in either, only the small dog area was. It's a really pretty area though, nice and quiet too.
Feb 13, 2025 · cbyahuThis was the first dog park I ever went to and I absolutely loved it! I really appreciated that there was a separate gated area for smaller dogs, which is the one I went in with my pup. There was a shaded picnic table area and dog bowls that we could use for water. There were little equipment pieces and toys too! It was clean and we had a really good time meeting other dog owners and sweet dogs. The best part? The location is just beautiful. Not only was the park lovely but the whole area that surrounded it was pretty. The worst part? I didn’t mind it but the walk from the parking lot to the actual park may be long for some.
Mar 23, 2022 · Lizsandra EdwardsIf your dog is a runner, don’t come here. I was looking forward to a fenced in dog park but when you come in there is nothing stopping your dog from turning around and running out. There is no gate. Once you get inside it’s enclosed but not very secure… not a lot of parking. It’s a good idea in theory but I won’t be back. You take a long boardwalk inside and then there is a small fenced off area for dogs 20 lbs or less.
May 17, 2024 · Jinah SchadOur girl loves it here. She can openly run to her hearts content. There are balls and toys, obstacles for them, and more than enough space. It's our new favorite place for her.
