3,6 stars I bring my dog to the Pier 6 dog run often, and she absolutely loves playing fetch here! It’s a great spot for dogs to run around and burn off energy. The convenience of having the Wag Club right next door is a huge bonus—my pup loves grabbing a treat and drinking some clean water after a good play session. That said, the dog run can get a little chaotic when it's crowded, especially with some owners not paying attention to where they’re throwing balls. I’ve seen a few dogs accidentally collide because of this. It can also get a bit gross when people don’t clean up after their dogs, leaving marks on the AstroTurf. Pro tip: the best time to visit is after it rains—it tends to be less crowded and cleaner. Overall, it’s a great community spot where my dog has a blast, as long as everyone is mindful of their pups!

Situated at 334 Furman St, Brooklyn, NY 11201, USA, the Pier 6 Dog Run boasts an enviable location at the southern end of Brooklyn Bridge Park. This makes it easily accessible for residents across Brooklyn, particularly those in Brooklyn Heights and surrounding neighborhoods. Its position within one of NYC's most iconic parks also means it's a destination for dog owners from further afield, who appreciate the stunning waterfront views and the park's overall appeal.
Getting to Pier 6 Dog Run is straightforward, whether you're walking, biking, or taking public transportation. The park is well-integrated into the public transit network, with several subway lines and bus routes serving the Brooklyn Bridge Park area. For those driving, street parking can be competitive, but the park's accessibility via public transport and its walkability from various parts of Brooklyn make it a convenient choice for many. The proximity to the East River Ferry also offers a unique and scenic way to arrive, especially for those coming from Manhattan or other waterfront areas. The park’s location ensures that a visit to the dog run can easily be combined with a stroll along the promenade, enjoying the Manhattan skyline, or exploring other attractions within Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The Pier 6 Dog Run is designed with the primary purpose of providing an off-leash area for dogs, and while it focuses on this core service, it also offers several crucial amenities that enhance the experience for both pets and their owners.
Off-Leash Play Area: The main attraction is the spacious, fenced-in area where dogs can run freely and interact without the constraint of a leash. This is invaluable for dogs who need to expend a lot of energy.
AstroTurf Surface: A notable feature mentioned by visitors is the AstroTurf surface. This artificial turf is particularly beneficial for all-weather use, providing a cleaner alternative to dirt or gravel parks, especially after rain. It helps keep paws cleaner and reduces muddy messes.
Water Station: Staying hydrated is key for active dogs. The dog run provides a water station, complete with bowls, allowing pups to quench their thirst after a vigorous play session. Some reports even mention a sprayer shower for cooling off or a quick rinse.
Seating for Owners: A ledge around the perimeter of the circular dog run offers comfortable seating for owners to relax while their dogs play. This encourages community interaction among pet parents.
Waste Disposal Bins: The park emphasizes cleanliness with readily available waste disposal bins, promoting responsible pet ownership and helping to maintain a hygienic environment.
The Pier 6 Dog Run stands out for several key features and highlights that contribute to its popularity:
Circular Layout: The circular shape of the dog run is surprisingly spacious and well-thought-out. It encourages dogs to run around, creating a dynamic play environment. Visitors have noted that it feels larger than it appears from the outside, facilitating continuous movement and play.
Natural Shading: The presence of natural shading within or around the dog run is a significant advantage, especially during warmer months, providing a comfortable retreat for dogs and owners from direct sunlight.
Proximity to The Wag Club: A huge bonus for many regulars is the immediate vicinity of The Wag Club. This pet service facility, located right next door (362 Furman St), offers treats, clean water, and potentially other services like grooming or daycare, making it incredibly convenient for a post-play treat or refresh.
All-Weather Surface: The AstroTurf proves to be excellent for all weather conditions, allowing for enjoyment even on rainy days, when other parks might become muddy and less inviting. This resilience makes it a reliable option year-round.
Community Atmosphere: Despite occasional crowding, the dog run is lauded as a great community spot. It’s a place where both dogs and their owners can socialize, build connections, and enjoy shared experiences in a vibrant urban park setting.
While specific, ongoing promotions for the Pier 6 Dog Run itself are not typically advertised, its proximity to The Wag Club presents a unique informal "special offer" for visitors. As highlighted by local users, the convenience of having The Wag Club right next door means that a quick and easy post-play treat or access to clean, filtered water is always at hand. This symbiotic relationship between the dog run and The Wag Club enhances the overall experience for dog owners, making a visit to Pier 6 Dog Run even more appealing. Dog owners can often find pet-related products and services, including premium treats and fresh water, just steps away, adding a layer of convenience and luxury to their outing. Additionally, local pet businesses in the wider Brooklyn area may occasionally offer promotions to dog owners who frequent popular dog parks like Pier 6, so it's always worth keeping an eye on local pet store flyers or community boards.

Feb 23, 2025 · Jason FidlerOh my gosh this is my favorite dog park! In NY you have the run of the mill dirt/grass parks then gravel/concrete. Surprisingly, the turf is great for all weather. Took my pup here on a rainy day and he had the most fun granted we had the whole place to ourselves. The circular shape is surprisingly spacious and well thought out for dogs to play in. Lovely spot.
Apr 12, 2025 · Rachel TangThis place is now turf and there are no pebbles. The area is small but great so the dogs don’t get super dirty. Dogs here are friendly and are all sizes. @misothebernedoodle_ loves it here
Sep 21, 2022 · Jackie WangFantastic dog run. Highly recommended.
Feb 12, 2024 · JKDefinitely a definition of a dog run as it’s not a huge area, but very well maintained. Astroturf surface so easier on the paws and actually quite well shaded by the surrounding ring of trees. Often at least another pup friend there from the neighboring buildings but good idea to bring a ball just in case.
