Great spot for dogs to run and play. There are usually bowls but bring water--last time I was there it was too cold and the didn't have the dog fountain on yet. I would bring your own chair. There's only a couple of benches. Not a lot of shade. Owners will leave tennis balls and Chuck-its if you forget stuff for your dog to play with

Welcome to Perry Paw Dog Park - Members Only

For dedicated dog owners in Maryland, particularly those residing in Perry Hall and the greater Baltimore County area, finding a secure, well-maintained, and community-focused space for their furry companions to thrive is paramount. The Perry Paw Dog Park - Members Only stands out as a premier destination, offering an exclusive and controlled environment where dogs can run, play, and socialize safely. Located within the expansive Honeygo Run Regional Park, Perry Paw provides a unique, members-only experience that fosters a responsible and engaged pet-owning community.

Unlike open public dog parks, Perry Paw's membership model ensures that all users are registered, have agreed to abide by the park's rules, and have provided necessary health documentation for their dogs. This commitment to responsible pet ownership creates a more predictable and safer environment for all attendees. Imagine your dog confidently exploring a spacious, fenced area, interacting with other well-socialized pups, and burning off energy without the typical concerns associated with less regulated spaces. This peace of mind is a significant benefit that attracts many local dog lovers to join.

The park is highly regarded by its members for its thoughtful design, including separate areas catering to different dog sizes and needs. This careful segregation allows for more appropriate play interactions, enhancing safety for both energetic larger breeds and more delicate smaller or elderly dogs. While a few common amenities might require owners to be prepared (like bringing their own water during colder months), the overall consensus points to a well-loved and utilized facility that significantly enhances the quality of life for local dogs and their owners.

Perry Paw Dog Park is more than just a fenced enclosure; it's a testament to a community's dedication to providing a high-quality recreational space for its canine residents. If you're in Maryland and seeking a dedicated, secure, and community-oriented environment for your dog's off-leash adventures, understanding the benefits of a membership-based park like Perry Paw is your first step towards a happier, healthier pup.

This comprehensive article will guide you through everything you need to know about Perry Paw Dog Park, including its prime location, the essential services it offers, its key features, membership details, and why it's the ideal choice for Maryland locals looking for a premium dog park experience.

Location and Accessibility

The Perry Paw Dog Park - Members Only is strategically located at 9033 Honeygo Blvd, Perry Hall, MD 21128, USA. This address places it squarely within the much larger Honeygo Run Regional Park, a significant asset for residents of Perry Hall and the surrounding Baltimore County areas. Its integration into a regional park means visitors benefit from the overall infrastructure and amenities of a well-established recreational complex.

Access to the dog park is straightforward once you are within Honeygo Run Regional Park. Visitors typically park in the main parking lot, and the dog park is visible to the left of the football fields. This ample, shared parking lot ensures that finding a spot is rarely an issue, even during busy times, contributing to a stress-free arrival.

One of the defining features of Perry Paw Dog Park's accessibility is its members-only status. Entry to the fully enclosed dog areas is controlled via a security keycard or similar access system provided to registered members. This controlled access ensures that only authorized individuals and their dogs are using the facility, which contributes significantly to the safety and exclusivity of the park. Dogs must be on-leash when entering and exiting the park, with leashes to be removed only in the double-gated holding area between the main entrance and the off-leash zones.

The park's location within Honeygo Run Regional Park also means that it is nestled within a broader recreational area that includes short trails and open spaces. This allows for diverse outdoor activities, enabling members to enjoy a walk or run around the park before or after their dog's off-leash playtime. The overall setting provides a pleasant, open environment for both canine and human enjoyment.

Services Offered

Perry Paw Dog Park - Members Only provides a range of services tailored to its membership model, ensuring a secure and well-equipped environment for dogs and their owners.

  • Membership-Based Access: The core service is exclusive access to the dog park facility through an annual membership. This ensures a community of responsible, registered dog owners.
  • Separate Play Areas: The park features two distinct, fully enclosed sections: a 0.34-acre area specifically for small dogs (generally under 35 pounds, also accommodating elderly and docile larger dogs) and a 1.06-acre area for larger breeds. This separation promotes safer and more appropriate play interactions.
  • Dog Water Fountains/Bowls: Water fountains are typically available for dogs to stay hydrated. While users advise bringing backup water during colder months when fountains might be off, bowls are usually present.
  • Waste Disposal Stations: The park provides receptacles and often doggie bags, encouraging members to clean up after their pets and maintain a hygienic environment.
  • Double-Gated Entry System: The entrance features a double-gated system, enhancing security and preventing accidental escapes as dogs transition to and from the off-leash areas.
  • ADA-Accessible Walkway: The park includes a porous concrete walkway designed for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access, ensuring inclusivity for all visitors.
  • Benches for Owners: While limited, there are benches available for owners to sit and supervise their dogs. Members often bring their own chairs for extended comfort.

Features / Highlights

Perry Paw Dog Park - Members Only stands out due to several key features that enhance the experience for its members and their canine companions.

  • Exclusive Membership Model: This is the defining feature, creating a more controlled and responsible environment. Memberships require registration, proof of vaccinations (rabies), and county/city animal licenses, ensuring that all dogs using the park are healthy and legally compliant. This significantly increases safety and peace of mind for owners.
  • Dedicated Separate Areas: The park's division into distinct large dog (1.06 acres) and small/elderly dog (0.34 acres) sections is a major highlight. This thoughtful design caters to the specific play styles and energy levels of different canines, reducing potential conflicts and allowing all dogs to play comfortably and safely. It's often praised for providing a secure space where smaller or more timid dogs won't be overwhelmed.
  • Fully Fenced with Security Access: The entire dog park is fully enclosed with tall, escape-proof fencing. Access is controlled via a security keycard, ensuring that only authorized members can enter, which is a significant safety feature.
  • Location within Honeygo Run Regional Park: Being part of a larger regional park offers additional benefits, including access to walking trails and other amenities within the broader park. This allows for diverse outdoor activities, making a visit to Perry Paw part of a larger recreational outing.
  • Community-Supported & Volunteer Operated: Perry Paw Dog Park is an all-volunteer operation, with membership fees and donations serving as primary funding for maintenance and improvements. This community-driven approach fosters a sense of ownership and care among its members.
  • Provisions for Play (Often Available): While not guaranteed, members often leave tennis balls and Chuck-its for communal use, creating a friendly atmosphere where dogs can find toys if owners forget theirs.
  • Grassy Surfaces and Ample Space: Both sections of the park feature grassy surfaces and plenty of room for dogs to run, sprint, and play, providing essential exercise space.

Promotions or Special Offers

As a members-only dog park operating as an all-volunteer organization, Perry Paw Dog Park focuses on providing value through its exclusive access and well-maintained facilities rather than traditional retail-style promotions. However, they do offer structured membership tiers and renewal incentives that can be considered a form of special offer for the local Maryland community.

The primary "promotion" is the annual membership structure itself, which provides unlimited access to the park's facilities during operating hours (sunrise to sunset) for the duration of the year. This annual fee serves as a contribution towards the maintenance, improvement, and development of the park, directly benefiting all members.

Key membership offers typically include:

  • Tiered Membership for Multiple Dogs:
    • Basic Membership: Often covers up to two dogs for a set annual fee (e.g., $30 for new members).
    • Plus Membership (or Additional Dog Fee): Allows for a third dog at an additional cost (e.g., $10 for the third dog, bringing the total to $40 for new members with three dogs). Please note, a maximum of three dogs per owner/handler is typically allowed at one time.
  • Discounted Renewals: Perry Paw Dog Park frequently offers a discounted rate for members who renew their membership by a specific deadline (e.g., by February 28th for the upcoming year). For instance, renewals for up to two dogs might be $25, and for three dogs, $30, representing a saving over the new member rates.
  • Access Pass Card: Each household membership typically includes one pass card for entry. While not a promotion, this controlled access is a key benefit of the membership model.

It's important for interested Maryland residents to note that membership year typically runs from January 1st to December 31st. All dogs require current license and rabies certification to be registered, ensuring the health and safety of all park users.

Conclusion: Why Perry Paw Dog Park is Suitable for Locals

For dog owners across Maryland, particularly those in the Perry Hall and surrounding Baltimore County areas, Perry Paw Dog Park - Members Only offers an exceptionally suitable and highly beneficial environment for their canine companions. Its unique membership model and thoughtful design address many common concerns, making it an ideal choice for responsible pet parents.

The primary reason for its suitability for locals lies in its exclusive, members-only access. This controlled environment ensures that all dogs entering the park are registered, vaccinated, and licensed, significantly increasing the safety and predictability of interactions. For owners who prioritize their dog's well-being and prefer a community of similarly committed individuals, this membership structure provides unparalleled peace of mind. It fosters a more responsible and harmonious atmosphere than many open public parks.

Furthermore, the park's separate play areas for large and small dogs are a huge advantage. This thoughtful design promotes appropriate play styles and reduces the risk of accidental injuries.

The park's location within the larger Honeygo Run Regional Park offers additional benefits, including easy access, ample parking, and the option to combine a dog park visit with other recreational activities like walking the surrounding trails. While amenities like shade and seating might be limited in certain areas, the overall availability of dog water fountains and waste disposal stations demonstrates a commitment to basic needs, though bringing your own water and chair is a good practice.

The fact that Perry Paw Dog Park is an all-volunteer operation funded by membership fees and donations also makes it highly suitable for locals who want to support a community-driven initiative. Members are directly contributing to the upkeep and future improvements of a valuable local resource, fostering a strong sense of community and shared responsibility.

In essence, Perry Paw Dog Park is more than just an off-leash area; it's a dedicated community where safety, responsibility, and enjoyment converge. Fast service but the employee installed the new battery without cleaning the terminals .. I didn't realize this until I got home and checked it out. They charge $26 to install.

Great place to take the dogs, good people, plenty of bags to pick up the poop, however it can get muddy is some spots and it could have some type of play obstacles

It is so smart to allow folks to try out the park to see if it is for them before they sign up their dogs. My big old poodle, Blake, loved it and so did I. Thanks to all who worked so tirelessly to make the park happen. I think the idea of a fee to join is excellent. Not only will dogs be identified and those breaking the rules ousted but also folks can help remind one another that they must clean up after their dogs. That is something that is not happening at the moment. So glad that problem will be fixed with dog identification. The park is beautiful, perfect and such a great idea! Thanks to all who made it happen. Thanks to those who brought in non aggressive, friendly dogs. What fun.
