Its position along Park Street ensures straightforward navigation for first-time visitors and regular patrons alike.
The park operates from dawn to dusk, seven days a week, providing ample opportunities for visits throughout the day. It’s important to note that access may occasionally be restricted due to poor weather conditions, special events, or maintenance, so it's always a good idea to check for any local announcements if you're planning a visit during inclement weather. Ample parking is available, ensuring a hassle-free arrival. To use the park, a daily or annual permit is required for each dog. Separate Areas for Small and Large Dogs: Designated sections to ensure a safe play environment tailored to the size and energy levels of different breeds.
Dog Waste Bags: Provided free of charge to encourage owners to clean up after their pets and maintain park cleanliness.

Ample Fenced Space: The park offers a generous, clean, open, and fenced area, providing plenty of room for dogs to run, fetch, and play without feeling crowded. The entire dog park covers approximately 9.2 acres.
Dedicated Small Dog Area: A significant highlight is the separate, fenced area specifically for small breeds. This thoughtful inclusion ensures that smaller dogs can play comfortably and safely away from larger, more boisterous companions.
Never Too Busy: According to local reviews, the park rarely feels overcrowded, allowing dogs plenty of space to interact and explore without overwhelming sensory input.
Well-Maintained Grounds: While not featuring extensive agility equipment or toys (visitors are encouraged to bring their own), the park is generally kept clean and well-maintained, with a focus on providing open green space for play.
Responsible Community: The availability of free poop bags and visible waste receptacles fosters a culture of responsibility among dog owners, contributing to the park’s overall cleanliness.
Quiet and Relaxed Atmosphere: The park’s design emphasizes open space and natural play, providing a relatively peaceful environment for dogs and owners compared to some more structured or crowded parks.
While some parks might boast elaborate equipment, Jon Blanchard Dog Park's strength lies in its simplicity and focus on providing expansive, safe, and well-managed off-leash areas that prioritize a dog’s natural desire to run and explore.
The Jon Blanchard Dog Park operates under the Village of Oregon's recreational facilities, and it's important for users to note that it is NOT affiliated with the Dane County Dog Park Program. This means a Dane County dog park permit will not grant you access here; a specific permit for the Jon Blanchard Dog Park is required. This distinction is crucial for local users to understand.
The primary "offer" comes in the form of its permit structure:
Annual Dog Park Permit: This is the most cost-effective option for regular visitors. The annual permit is typically $20 for the first dog and may be reduced for additional dogs (e.g., $10 for each additional dog if purchased prior to June 30th). There might also be pro-rated annual permits available if purchased after June 30th (e.g., $10 for the first dog, $5 for each additional dog).
Daily Permit: For occasional visitors or those just trying out the park, daily permits are available for a nominal fee, typically $5 per dog. These can often be obtained directly at the dog park site, offering convenience.
These structured permit fees ensure the park can be properly maintained, cleaned, and managed, providing a consistent quality experience for all users. Information on how to obtain these permits can be found via the Village of Oregon's official website or by contacting Village Hall.

Nice dog park. Not much for toys or equipment but a nice clean open fenced area for dogs and never seems too busy
Mar 17, 2025 · Tony SupanichDidn't stay long because of the cold wet conditions but it looks like a great dog park. It has a separate area for small breeds which is a nice option. Both parks have ample space for lots of running and playing. The various dog owners have slacked on poop patrol a little bit but that happens at most dog parks unfortunately:( The park provides all the free poop bags you need SO USE THEM!!
Mar 16, 2019 · Sam TGreat dog park for dogs to play with other dogs. Open field to run around and chase. It would be nice if they mowed the walking trail.
Oct 17, 2023 · B CGreat dog park, almost always has jugs of water for water and there are dog waste bags for humans to use to clean up after their dog. Its a nice size and has a path to walk around the park as well as a large mowed area for dogs to run.
