Welcome to Holiday Park Dog Park
For dog owners in Fort Lauderdale, finding a large, secure, and engaging space for their furry companions to stretch their legs and socialize is a top priority. Holiday Park Dog Park, nestled within the expansive Holiday Park, offers just such a place. It's a popular destination for local residents seeking an opportunity for their dogs to enjoy off-leash freedom, make new friends, and burn off some energy in a dedicated environment.
This park provides a valuable resource for the Fort Lauderdale community, giving dogs the chance to run, play, and interact in a way that leashed walks simply can't provide. It’s a space where the joyous barks and wagging tails are a common sight, contributing to the vibrant pet-friendly culture of South Florida. While public dog parks often rely on the collective responsibility of their users, Holiday Park Dog Park stands out as a well-intentioned effort by the city to provide a positive experience for both canines and their human companions.
Holiday Park Dog Park is designed with the active dog in mind, featuring ample room for running and separate areas to cater to different sizes. It's a place where you can truly witness your dog's happiness as they engage with their surroundings and other playful pups. For Florida locals, it represents a convenient and accessible option for regular exercise and essential socialization, making it a cornerstone for responsible pet ownership in the area.
Accessing the dog park within Holiday Park is generally straightforward. The park is often described as being located near the War Memorial Auditorium within the larger Holiday Park grounds. Parking is available within Holiday Park, though it's important to be aware that parking fees may apply depending on the time and day of the week, as is common with many city parks. Visitors should check signage or the city's parks website for the most up-to-date parking information.
The dog park itself is "fully fenced" with "double-gated entrance" for added security, ensuring dogs can safely enter and exit the off-leash area without accidentally escaping. While the primary address for Holiday Park is 1150 G. Harold Martin Dr, the dog park section is specifically accessible from 901 Memorial Dr. Its prominent location within a well-known city park makes it a recognizable and easy-to-find destination for local dog owners seeking dedicated play space.
-
Designated Off-Leash Areas: The primary service is providing a secure, fully fenced area where dogs can legally and safely play off-leash. This freedom is vital for a dog's physical and mental well-being.
-
Separate Sections for Dog Sizes: A key feature mentioned is the provision of "separate areas for big and small dogs." This thoughtful design ensures that dogs can play with companions of similar size and energy levels, promoting safer interactions and reducing potential stress for smaller or more timid dogs.
-
Water Fountain: To keep pups hydrated, especially in Florida's warm climate, the park is equipped with a water fountain specifically for dogs.
-
Shaded Areas: The park offers "shaded areas," providing relief from the sun for both dogs and their owners, which is a crucial amenity in sunny Fort Lauderdale.
While the park provides these essential services, it's important for visitors to be aware of the community-reported issue regarding waste cleanup. As noted in customer reviews, there have been instances of dog waste not being picked up by owners. This highlights the importance of every visitor taking responsibility for their dog's waste to ensure a clean and enjoyable experience for all, as amenities like waste bags are not explicitly guaranteed to be available by all public data, and visitor adherence is key.
-
Spacious Layout: The park is described as a "great space for our doggies," implying ample room for dogs to run, chase, and play freely without feeling confined.
-
Fully Fenced and Secure: A critical highlight is that the park is "fully fenced" and includes "double-gated entrance," providing a high level of security for off-leash play and peace of mind for owners.
-
Big/Small Dog Separation: The presence of distinct areas for different dog sizes is a significant advantage, allowing for safer and more appropriate play groups.
-
Water Access: The availability of a water fountain ensures that dogs can stay hydrated during their playtime, a vital amenity in the Florida heat.
-
Shade: "Shaded areas" are a welcome feature, offering protection from the sun for both dogs and their human companions.
-
Located within a Larger Park: Being part of Holiday Park means visitors can combine a dog park outing with other recreational activities offered within the expansive main park, such as walking trails (though dogs must be leashed in the rest of Holiday Park).
Despite these positive features, a consistent concern raised by community members is the issue of dog waste not being picked up by some users. This emphasizes the park's reliance on responsible pet ownership to maintain its overall quality.
-
Free Public Access: The most significant "offer" for local users is that the dog park is generally free to use. This means Fort Lauderdale residents can bring their dogs for regular exercise and socialization without incurring any direct entry fees, making it an accessible option for all.
-
Extensive Operating Hours: Holiday Park Dog Park boasts generous operating hours, typically from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily. This extensive timeframe allows locals maximum flexibility to visit at their convenience, whether it's for an early morning romp or an evening playtime session after work.
-
Community Integration: While not a direct "promotion," the park's existence as a key amenity within a larger city park fosters a sense of community. It provides a common ground for local dog owners to meet and connect, indirectly enriching the social fabric for pet owners.
It's always advisable for visitors to check the official Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation website for the most current information regarding park rules, hours, and any temporary closures for maintenance or events, as these can impact accessibility.
Address: 901 Memorial Dr, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304, USA (Dog Park specific address within Holiday Park)
For general inquiries related to Holiday Park or the Fort Lauderdale Parks and Recreation department, the main contact numbers are:
Phone: (954) 828-5383 (General Holiday Park inquiries)
For broader Parks & Recreation information: (954) 828-7275
It is recommended to verify these phone numbers on the official City of Fort Lauderdale website for the most up-to-date contact information.
One of the most significant advantages for locals is the sheer size and secure nature of the park. With its "great space" and "fully fenced" perimeter, dogs have ample room to run, play, and engage in vigorous exercise, which is crucial for their physical health and mental stimulation. The "nice high gate" and "double-gated entrances" provide peace of mind, ensuring that dogs can safely enjoy off-leash freedom without concern for wandering off. This secure environment is paramount for responsible pet ownership in an urban setting.
The thoughtful inclusion of separate areas for big and small dogs is another key factor in its suitability. This design proactively addresses potential safety concerns and allows all dogs to socialize within appropriate play groups, fostering positive interactions and reducing stress. Amenities like the water fountain and shaded areas are also vital, especially given Florida's warm climate, ensuring dogs stay hydrated and owners have comfortable spots for supervision.
While a consistent concern highlighted by local reviews revolves around some users failing to pick up after their dogs, this issue underscores the importance of community responsibility rather than a flaw in the park's design or offerings. It serves as a reminder for all visitors to uphold the unwritten social contract of dog park etiquette, ensuring a pleasant experience for everyone.
Furthermore, the park's extensive operating hours, from early morning to late evening, offer unparalleled flexibility for Fort Lauderdale residents to fit dog park visits into their busy schedules. Its central location within the larger Holiday Park, a well-known community hub, makes it easily accessible. In conclusion, despite challenges presented by user behavior, Holiday Park Dog Park remains an indispensable public resource for Fort Lauderdale's dog-loving community, providing a vital, free, and accessible space for their cherished pets to thrive.

Mar 08, 2025 · Marilyn MCI just rated 1 star to catch the attention. This park is a great space for our doggies!!! However, I keep seeing people is leaving a lot of poop. They are not caring about the others experience. The idea of taking the dog to the dog park is to make the dog socialize, run and play. They should not be run into poop!! is SOOOO difficult to have the dogs back in the car if they already got dirty by poop. Also they can get sick! Please dog owners, make this park great for everybody!
Jan 15, 2025 · Susan Carol Velazco MonzónIt's a nice park but, It be nicer if ppl picked up the dog crap after their animals. Not all ppl have an animal and would like to sit in the grass, walk or jog without the possibility of stepping in dog poop. The homeless weren't a nuisance but it's sad to see anyway.
Jan 28, 2025 · Stefanie FreebirdNice decent sized LG dog area. Would be awesome if more obstacles were available. Mig had fun on his visit. #embarkingwithmig
Feb 11, 2024 · Steve HammerVenus was very shy with the other dogs, She loved being able to explore off leash.. the gated area for the dogs is perfect. Nice big area designed for all the dogs to play, run around, drink water (like 3 fountains) area with dirt grass and sand. When I go back I’ll definitely add more pictures. Had a nice walk and will definitely be coming back :)
