Beautiful walk through the woods to the dog park. Once you get to the park, there is a section for big dogs and small dogs, and then a combined section. It was super fun for the boys, and very beautiful.

This park stands out for its thoughtful design, offering distinct areas for different dog sizes, ensuring a safer and more comfortable experience for all. It's a place where furry friends can socialize and burn off energy, and owners can connect with fellow dog enthusiasts amidst a beautiful natural setting. This article will provide a detailed overview of Graves Dog Park, covering its unique location, the services it provides, its standout features, and why it has become a cherished spot for so many local residents and their beloved canine companions.
Graves Dog Park is located at 1540 Graves Rd, Norcross, GA 30093, USA, within the expansive Graves Park. This prime location in Norcross makes it easily accessible for residents across Gwinnett County and neighboring areas of Metro Atlanta. One of the most enchanting aspects of visiting the dog park is the approach itself, which reviewers describe as a "beautiful walk through the woods" to reach the dedicated dog areas, adding to the overall outdoor experience.
The park generally operates from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily, offering ample hours for visits throughout the week. As part of a larger Gwinnett County park, there is typically plenty of parking available, ensuring convenience for visitors. While the dog park is a destination in itself, its integration within Graves Park means easy access to other park amenities, allowing for a multifaceted outing. The clear pathways leading to the dog park ensure a smooth journey for all visitors, including those with strollers or other equipment.
Graves Dog Park provides a comprehensive range of services and amenities designed specifically to cater to the needs of dogs and their owners, ensuring a safe, enjoyable, and clean environment for off-leash play.
- Separate Off-Leash Areas: The park features distinct, fenced sections to accommodate dogs of various sizes and play styles. There's a dedicated area for large dogs and a separate one for small dogs, promoting safer interactions. Additionally, some visitors mention a "combined section," which could imply a flexible or overflow area.
- Nature Trails: A significant highlight of Graves Park is its extensive network of nature trails. These allow for "beautiful walk through the woods" leading to and from the dog park, providing additional opportunities for leashed exercise and enjoyment of the natural surroundings. The main Graves Park includes a 1.25-mile paved trail.
- Waste Stations: To maintain cleanliness and encourage responsible pet ownership, the park is equipped with numerous dog waste stations, making it convenient for owners to clean up after their pets.
- Canine Drinking Water: The dog park offers water for dogs, which is a crucial amenity for keeping pups hydrated during active play, especially during warmer weather.
- Agility Equipment: Some sources indicate the presence of agility equipment within the dog park, offering additional opportunities for mental and physical stimulation for dogs.
- Benches/Seating: There are benches available within the dog park enclosures, providing owners with a place to rest while their dogs play.
It is important to note that while the park focuses on canine amenities, the larger Graves Park complex includes restrooms and other general park facilities, which may be accessible to dog park visitors.
Graves Dog Park is highly regarded by locals for several distinct features that set it apart and contribute to its popularity. These highlights enhance the overall experience for both dogs and their human companions:
- Immersive Natural Setting: A standout feature is the "beautiful walk through the woods" that leads to the dog park. This natural approach creates a serene and engaging experience, setting the tone for an enjoyable visit. The presence of "trails in nature" throughout the larger Graves Park further enhances this aspect.
- Thoughtful Separation of Areas: The provision of "a section for big dogs and small dogs, and then a combined section" is a significant advantage. This thoughtful design caters to the safety and comfort of all canine visitors, allowing owners to choose the most suitable environment for their pets.
- Spacious Environment: The dog park is noted for being "super fun for the boys" (dogs) and providing ample room for them to "run and play," indicating a generous amount of space for off-leash activity.
- Comprehensive Park Amenities: Beyond the dog park, Graves Park itself is a 70-acre facility offering a wide array of amenities including an interactive fountain (though currently closed for repair), two tennis courts, a sand volleyball court, a playground, a paved trail, grills, pavilions, and restrooms. This makes it a destination for the whole family, even if not everyone is solely focused on the dog park.
- Generally Well-Maintained: While some isolated concerns were mentioned in older reviews, the park generally maintains a positive reputation for being well-kept, contributing to a pleasant experience for visitors.
One recurring concern highlighted by a reviewer is the occasional presence of "grown ups bring their 4 wheelers and kids 4 wheelers to drive in the pavement where is people walking or in the trails everywhere," which can pose a safety risk. It is important to note that Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation rules generally prohibit motorized vehicles on trails, advising visitors to report such unauthorized activities to park authorities or 911 for emergencies.
As a public park managed by Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation, Graves Dog Park itself does not typically run commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the retail sense. The primary "offer" is the consistent provision of a free, well-maintained, and expansive recreational space for the community's dogs and their owners.
However, the broader Graves Park is a hub for various community-focused activities and events organized by Gwinnett County. These can serve as additional incentives for locals to visit the park, even if not directly related to the dog park:
- Community Events: Graves Park often hosts or is near various county-sponsored events, which may include outdoor festivals, health and wellness activities, or family fun days. Information about these would be available through the Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation website.
- Park Rentals: While the dog park itself is open access, other facilities within Graves Park, such as pavilions, are available for rent, allowing individuals or groups to host private events (e.g., birthday parties, family reunions) which could incorporate a visit to the dog park.
For the most up-to-date information on any community events or rental opportunities that might enhance a visit to Graves Park, it is recommended to consult the official Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation website or contact them directly.
For all inquiries regarding Graves Dog Park, including its operating hours, rules, or to report any concerns or maintenance issues, you should contact the Gwinnett County Department of Parks and Recreation. They are responsible for the management and upkeep of the park.

Nov 11, 2024 · Garrett FreemanBest park I have been. It has trails in nature, dog park for all sizes of dogs, pretty much everything here. Only one issue, grown ups bring their 4 wheelers and kids 4 wheelers to drive in the pavement where is people walking or in the trails everywhere. Many times caused me an accident little kids followed by adults
Dec 31, 2024 · Amalia ReyesGreat park in general but the dog park is great. The dogs I care for always have a great time running around. One of the best and largest closed in dog parks in Norcross.
Apr 19, 2022 · Swanky McBaddbatI knew this park when they built it. There has been a lot of changes since. For some reason, none of the swings for big kids are there. However, they've added an interactive water sprinkler area. The kids love it. There's a community garden, and other playing fields for playing soccer and football.
