Garland Dog Park is equipped with a range of services designed to make visits comfortable, safe, and convenient for dogs and their owners.
- Three Fenced-In Parks with Rotation: A unique and highly praised service, the park features three separate fenced areas. One is regularly taken "out of rotation" for maintenance and rehabilitation (e.g., grass regrowth, repairs), ensuring that two fresh, well-maintained areas are always available for play.
- Separate Areas for Small and Large Dogs: The park provides a primary area specifically for big dogs and another primary area for little dogs, ensuring safer and more appropriate play interactions. This separation is crucial for the comfort and safety of all dogs.
- Dog Water Fountains: Essential for hydration in the Texas climate, dedicated water fountains for dogs are available, allowing pups to quench their thirst after vigorous play.
- Dog Shower Area: A fantastic amenity, the park includes a dedicated dog shower area, perfect for rinsing off muddy paws or dirty coats after playtime, making the journey home much cleaner.
- Benches and Seating Areas: While some users wished for more, benches are present, allowing owners to relax and supervise their dogs.
- Waste Stations: To promote cleanliness and responsible pet ownership, trash receptacles and typically waste bag dispensers are available throughout the park for easy disposal of dog waste.
Garland Dog Park boasts several impressive features that make it a standout choice for local Texas dog owners.
- Innovative Rotation System: The unique three-park rotation system is a major highlight, ensuring that the play surfaces (grass/dirt) have time to recover, leading to better overall ground conditions and a more pleasant experience for dogs.
- Dedicated Large and Small Dog Areas: The clear separation of play areas for different dog sizes is a key safety and comfort feature, allowing all dogs to play at their appropriate energy levels.
- Dog Wash Station: The presence of a dog shower area is a highly convenient feature, particularly after muddy play or for a quick cool-down rinse, saving owners from dirty cars and homes.
- Well-Kept Cleanliness: Despite challenges with individual owners, the park itself is generally praised for being "well kept" and clean, indicating regular maintenance by the City of Garland.
- Beautiful Design: Many users describe the park as "beautifully made," suggesting thoughtful landscaping and design that creates an aesthetically pleasing environment.
- Ample Space for Running: The separate, large primary park for big dogs provides significant space for high-energy breeds to run, chase, and burn off energy effectively.

- Pet Adoption Events: Local animal shelters and rescue organizations may partner with the city to host adoption days or awareness campaigns at various park locations or community centers.
- Low-Cost Vaccination Clinics: Occasionally, the city or local veterinary groups may offer low-cost vaccination or microchipping clinics, promoting responsible pet ownership and health.

Nov 06, 2024 · EBeautiful little park and my dog loves it here! They have 3 fenced in parks for the dogs, one is always out of rotation so that it can be fixed up from the dogs running, playing and digging. They have a primary park for big dogs, and a primary park for little dogs, and they're supposed to be separated. Generally well kept, aside from the occasional bad dog owner who doesn't pick up after themselves or their canine. However, all in all, it's beautifully made. They have water fountains for the dogs when they get thirsty, and a little dog shower area to clean them off if they get muddy or dirty. Only complaint I find is really the owners who bring several big breeds that aren't very friendly and sit in lawn chairs or on the side to chat instead of make sure their dogs don't act out and get aggressive with other stranger dogs. There's a few groups who bring several large breeds and hang out while their dogs play, but their dogs get aggressive with dogs they don't know or pile up on a new, unknown dog and overwhelm the poor pup. They usually end up driving out new people with only one or two dogs, who gets nervous around a pack of 6-8 unruly, large breeds with no engaged owner. This isn't really the parks fault, more of a bad dog owners issue. However I do think the amount of dogs within the same park should be more regulated to keep dogs from attacking eachother or causing problems when owners won't watch their dog. I've heard about a few incidents that have happened here due to that, which is unfortunate. Other than that, great place!
Jan 15, 2025 · Devan SwantickFor the most part an absolutely wonderful dog park! Well lighted for late evenings, wich has been a blessing considering the heat lately... 2 separate pens rotated to allow for all dog sizes plus one for turf recuperation. All have water dispenser stations suitable for canine & humans! One has a standing canopy with clear evidence of construction for canopy in the other two. Human restrooms very close. If you have a pup that needs or craves social attention from others, canine or human, I recommend it!
Sep 25, 2023 · Robert PenningtonThis our first time at this dog park it is very big i like the fact that it has separate sections for the them to play. Don't know if it was left by previous dog owners but was plenty of tennis balls for him to play with.. the middle section however was filled with dog poo. Other than that this is a nice dog park to bring your pets. Just more maintenance and I would definitely recommend coming back
Dec 23, 2024 · Eric De La Cruzi love this park because it's clean. But their hours are awful. Came on a thursday today again and it's CLOSED when it says online it's OPEN. This happened to us multiple times. Sucks having to drive all the way here and not able to get in.
