No gates yet, so make sure your dog has a good recall before you bring them. Nowhere to sit currently, but there are concrete pads in each space that look like they will have benches in the future. The space is great, lots of space for dogs to run around. My dog had a blast exploring the area and sniffing all the trees. I did notice some wires poking up out of the ground (not live, don't worry) that I wouldn't want a dog to chew on. As long as you keep a close eye on your dog and they aren't prone to running away, this is a good park. I'm hoping they will add gates and benches in the future.

Welcome to Dog Park
For dog owners in Commerce Township and surrounding areas of Michigan, the opportunity to provide their furry companions with a dedicated space for off-leash exercise and socialization is invaluable. A promising new addition to the local pet-friendly landscape is the Dog Park at Victory Park. While still in its early stages of development, this park is already offering a generous amount of open space for dogs to stretch their legs and enjoy the outdoors.
Located within the broader Victory Park, this new dog park is generating excitement among local residents eager for more dedicated canine recreation areas. Initial feedback highlights its spaciousness, providing ample room for dogs of all sizes to run freely and explore. It’s a place where dogs can indulge their natural instincts to sniff, chase, and interact with other dogs in a large, open setting.
It’s important to note that as a newly developed facility, the Dog Park at Victory Park is still evolving. Current users emphasize that while the space itself is fantastic, some traditional dog park amenities are yet to be installed. This includes gates to fully enclose the area and benches for human companions. Therefore, visitors are advised to be mindful of their dog's recall abilities and to be prepared for a more rustic experience in the short term. However, the potential for this park to become a premier destination in Commerce Township is evident, with plans for future enhancements already in motion.
The Dog Park is located within Victory Park, specifically at HGXH+8G Victory Park, Commerce Township, MI 48382, USA. This address places it in the heart of Commerce Township, making it a convenient destination for local residents and those from nearby Michigan communities. Victory Park itself is a significant community park in Commerce Township, acquired by the township in 2012 for public outdoor recreation, indicating a commitment to providing recreational opportunities for its citizens.
The park's location within a larger public park suggests good accessibility, typically offering ample parking facilities. While specific details on the dog park's exact operating hours might align with the broader Victory Park hours (which often extend from dawn to dusk for most public parks), it's always recommended to check the Commerce Township Parks and Recreation official website for the most up-to-date information, especially concerning new facilities.
As a developing park, visitors should be aware that the area may not yet have all the established pathways or clear signage found in more mature dog parks. However, its integration into Victory Park, which has a long-term master plan including a dog park, suggests a well-considered placement designed for community use. The overall Victory Park property includes diverse natural features like woods, open fields, streams, and wetlands, providing a pleasant backdrop for a dog park visit.
As a newly established dog park, the offerings at the Dog Park in Victory Park are focused on providing a large, open space for off-leash play, with future amenities planned.
- Spacious Off-Leash Area: The primary service offered is a generously sized area where dogs can run freely off-leash. Reviews highlight "lots of space for dogs to run around," which is crucial for energetic breeds and for promoting healthy canine exercise.
- Natural Environment: The park provides a natural setting for exploration, with "sniffing all the trees" noted by a visitor. This natural engagement is beneficial for a dog's mental stimulation.
- Concrete Pads (Future Benches): While there are no benches currently available for owners to sit, the presence of "concrete pads in each space that look like they will have benches in the future" indicates planned amenities for human comfort. This suggests a commitment to enhancing the user experience over time.
- Developing Infrastructure: The park is currently in a phase of development, meaning core infrastructure for off-leash use is being established. While gates are not yet present, the "great space" suggests the fundamental layout for a dog park is in place.
- Community Use: The park is intended for public use by local residents, providing an accessible space for dog owners to gather and for dogs to socialize.
It's important for visitors to understand that due to the ongoing development, some conveniences found in more established dog parks may not be fully in place yet. This includes potentially limited waste stations or water sources, so coming prepared with bags and water for your dog is advisable.
Despite being a developing facility, the Dog Park at Victory Park already boasts several compelling features that make it an attractive option for local dog owners:
- Vast Open Space: The most significant highlight is the sheer amount of open, available space. This allows dogs to engage in high-speed play, fetch, and expansive exploration, which is ideal for energetic dogs and those who love to run.
- Natural Exploration Opportunities: The park's setting within Victory Park means dogs can enjoy sniffing trees and exploring natural elements. This provides a rich sensory experience for canines, essential for their well-being.
- Good for Dogs with Strong Recall: Given the current lack of gates, the park is particularly well-suited for dogs with excellent recall and owners who maintain a close eye on their pets. This makes it a great spot for training or for dogs who are already reliable off-leash.
- Future Amenities Planned: The visible presence of "concrete pads" designed for future benches indicates a commitment from Commerce Township to enhance the park with seating and potentially other features like gates, making it even more user-friendly in the future.
- Potential for Community Growth: As the park develops and more amenities are added, it has the potential to become a vibrant hub for the Commerce Township dog-owning community, fostering social connections among both dogs and their humans.
- Part of a Larger Park System: Being located within Victory Park means visitors can enjoy other amenities of the larger park area (though dogs must be leashed outside the designated dog park area), such as walking trails, providing a more comprehensive outing opportunity.
While a user review noted some exposed wires (described as "not live"), this highlights the park's newness and the need for owners to be vigilant. However, the overall sentiment remains positive regarding the space itself and its potential.
As a public park facility operated by Commerce Township Parks and Recreation, the Dog Park at Victory Park does not typically offer commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the way a private business might. Access to the park is generally free for local residents, as it falls under the purview of municipal parks.
However, the "special offer" for local users is the ongoing investment and development into a new, dedicated recreational space for their pets. The township's commitment to adding future amenities like gates and benches signifies an enhancement of public services without direct cost to the user beyond general tax contributions.
Local residents should monitor the Commerce Township Parks and Recreation website or their local community announcements for any potential community events that might be held at Victory Park, which could include dog-friendly gatherings or "grand opening" type events for the dog park once more amenities are in place. These events would be the primary "promotions" in the public park context, offering unique opportunities for engagement and community building.
At this stage, the primary benefit is access to a large, undeveloped space that is actively being improved for dog recreation, a valuable resource for residents looking for a place for their dogs to run freely.
As the Dog Park is part of Victory Park and managed by Commerce Township, inquiries would typically go through the Commerce Township Parks and Recreation Department.

For residents of Commerce Township and the surrounding Michigan areas, the developing Dog Park at Victory Park represents a significant and highly suitable addition to their local recreational options. Despite its current stage of development, its inherent advantages make it an excellent choice for local dog owners.
Primarily, the park offers a vast, open expanse for dogs to run and play off-leash. This generous amount of space is a critical feature for dogs, allowing them to burn energy, practice their zoomies, and engage in full-speed play in a way that smaller, more confined areas simply cannot accommodate. For locals whose dogs thrive on extensive running and exploration, this park provides an unparalleled opportunity to fulfill those needs within their own community. The natural setting, with trees and varied terrain, also offers mental stimulation through sniffing and exploring, contributing to a well-rounded experience for canine companions.
Furthermore, the park's status as a new and developing facility means it holds immense potential. The planned addition of amenities such as gates and benches directly addresses initial user feedback, indicating a responsiveness from Commerce Township to create a truly complete and comfortable dog park experience. This forward-looking approach means that locals can look forward to continuous improvements, making their future visits even more enjoyable and convenient. Being part of the larger Victory Park complex also means residents can combine a dog park visit with other recreational activities, such as walking the broader park trails (with dogs on leash outside the designated off-leash area).
While owners must currently rely on their dog's strong recall and maintain close supervision due to the absence of gates, this also provides an excellent opportunity for training and reinforcing good off-leash behavior in a real-world, large-space environment. For conscientious dog owners in Michigan, this developing park offers a unique blend of natural beauty, ample space, and the promise of future enhancements, cementing its role as a valuable and evolving asset for the Commerce Township community.
