Theres no DOGS HERE! My dog was bumming hard, and i stayed for a long time at 1:00pm on a sunday. Overcast but no rain AT ALL, not at any point in the day. The ground is totally dry, theres no reason for dogs not to be here. We've been here an hour. My dog is so pissed at every person he sees that comes when he realizes they dont have dogs. Im serious when he sees people show up he runs over things "yes dogs finally" then sees they dont have dogs and gets pissed and starts parking at them like to say "dammit you dont have a dog i dont wanna see you get out of here stupid human," oh poor baby. He was so stoked when i said "dog park Brody, we're at the dog park."

De Turk Park, while primarily an open, off-leash space, provides several implicit "services" and amenities that significantly enhance the experience for dog owners and their pets, contributing to its reputation as a preferred local spot:
- Designated Off-Leash Area: The core "service" is offering a dedicated space where dogs can safely and legally run, play, and interact off-leash, which is crucial for their physical exercise and behavioral development.
- Clean and Well-Maintained Grounds: Visitors consistently highlight the cleanliness of the park, indicating a regular upkeep that ensures a pleasant and hygienic environment for all users. This includes regular waste management and general tidiness.
- Community Social Hub: The park naturally serves as a meeting point for local dog owners, fostering a sense of community. This allows for informal social interaction among people and provides opportunities for dogs to socialize with a variety of friendly canines.
- Waste Disposal Stations: While users are expected to bring their own bags, the presence of readily available waste disposal bins encourages responsible pet ownership and helps maintain the park's cleanliness.
- Spacious Play Area: The park offers ample room for dogs to engage in various activities, from chasing balls to playful wrestling, accommodating different play styles and energy levels.
- Water Fountains: Providing access to fresh water is an essential service, ensuring dogs stay hydrated during their active play, especially in California's often warm climate.
These "services," though perhaps not explicitly itemized by the park management, are fundamental to the park's utility and appeal, making it a comprehensive solution for local dog owners' needs.
De Turk Park distinguishes itself with several key features and highlights that make it a cherished spot for Santa Rosa dog owners:
- Consistently Clean Environment: A prominent highlight is the park's reputation for being "Always clean!" This dedication to cleanliness creates a more inviting and hygienic space for both dogs and their owners, setting it apart from many other public dog parks.

- Spacious Off-Leash Area: The park offers a generous open space where dogs can run freely, chase, and explore without the constraints of a leash, providing essential physical exercise and mental stimulation.
- Dry and Usable Ground: Even on overcast days without rain, visitors note that "The ground is totally dry." This ensures the park remains accessible and enjoyable even when other outdoor areas might be muddy or uninviting.
- Natural Setting: While an urban park, it provides a natural, open environment, allowing dogs to engage with natural elements and enjoy fresh air away from enclosed spaces.
- Strong Community Vibe (Even on Quiet Days): The very nature of the park, even on a less busy day, evokes a strong sense of its purpose as a dog park. The humorous account of a dog "bumming hard" due to a lack of other dogs highlights how much canine visitors anticipate and value the social aspect the park typically offers.
These combined features make De Turk Park a top-tier destination, offering a superior experience for both canines and their human companions in the Santa Rosa area.
As a public park managed by the city, De Turk Park does not typically provide commercial "promotions" or "special offers" in the traditional retail sense. Its inherent value to the community lies in its consistent availability as a free recreational space. However, its enduring qualities serve as a continuous "special offer" to local residents:
- Free Access for All: The most significant "promotion" is the consistent, free access to a well-maintained and dedicated off-leash area. This provides invaluable opportunities for dog exercise and socialization without any financial barrier, making it accessible to all members of the community.
- Year-Round Usability: The fact that the ground is typically dry and usable even on overcast days ensures the park can be enjoyed year-round, offering a consistent outlet for dog activity regardless of minor weather changes. This reliable availability is a key benefit.
- Health and Wellness Benefits: Regular visits to De Turk Park contribute directly to the physical and mental well-being of dogs, offering essential exercise, opportunities for play, and vital socialization. This ongoing benefit for healthier and happier pets is a continuous "offer" to pet owners.
- Community Engagement: While not a formal promotion, the park naturally fosters a strong sense of community among local dog owners. This leads to informal meet-ups, shared experiences, and a supportive network for pet lovers, enhancing the social fabric of the area.

Feb 26, 2024 · Donya RamirezFenced in dog park with some grass. No poop bag dispenser, no water fountain. Next an open grass field. Surrounded by well kept homes and businesses in a warehouse building. Sketchy area near the hwy not far away.
May 29, 2021 · Michael PThis is a smaller dog park, if you're looking for a huge space for your dog to run, there are other parks around Santa Rosa that are better. I love this park because there's rarely other dogs and it has just enough space for me the toss the ball around and let my dog stretch her legs in the middle of our walk.
Dec 10, 2019 · Jennifer MillerI've taken my dog here two different times & the park itself is nice...sturdy fenced in area with lots of room to run around...however on my first visit there was a large german shepard that continually jumped on my 13yr old dogs back. I had to physically push the dog off of mine numerous times, this dog was twice the size of mine & was literally putting him on the ground every time he jumped on him. The owner stood by talking to another man as I had to physically get his dog off of mine numerous times. I mean I realize its a dog park but if I saw someone struggling with my dog I would have made some sort of effort to help but this owner didnt even attempt to help. The second visit my dog was able to run around with the other dog that was there & they were playing around then as my dog was walking back to me the other dog suddenly attacked mine. Thankfully this owner was much more attentative than the last & he quickly pulled his dog away & left with him so I dont blame him or the dog at all. I have went to the RP park many times & have never had a problem so the fact that we had only been to this park twice & experienced incidents both times kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.
