Butcher Park, found at the intersection of Camden Avenue and Lancaster Drive. This strategic location makes it easily accessible for residents across various San Jose neighborhoods, particularly those in the southwest and central areas of the city.
Accessibility to Butcher Dog Park is generally quite good. For those traveling by car, there is typically on-street parking available in the vicinity of the park, making it relatively straightforward to find a spot and get your furry friend ready for playtime. Its location within a larger park complex means that it is integrated into a network of pathways, though it is important to note that the dog park itself does not have dedicated jogging paths within its perimeter; however, "you can jog outside" the dog park within the broader Roy M. Butcher Park. Public transportation options also serve the area, with various bus lines having stops within a reasonable walking distance, connecting the park to other parts of San Jose. The park is also noted for being wheelchair accessible, ensuring that a wide range of community members can enjoy this facility. This ease of access contributes significantly to its popularity, allowing local dog owners to make regular visits for their pets' exercise and social needs without facing major logistical challenges.
Butcher Dog Park, managed by the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department, provides a range of services and amenities designed to ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for dogs and their owners:

-

As a public dog park managed by the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department, Butcher Dog Park does not typically offer commercial promotions or special offers in the traditional business sense, such as discounts, loyalty programs, or seasonal sales. Its primary "offer" to the community is providing a free, accessible, and well-maintained public space for canine exercise and socialization, which is an invaluable service in an urban setting like San Jose.
However, it's worth noting that the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department, or local pet-related organizations and businesses in the San Jose area, may occasionally host or support community events that are dog-friendly or take place within local parks. While not direct promotions from Butcher Dog Park itself, these could include things like pet adoption events, free microchipping clinics, dog safety workshops, or charity walks. Dog owners in California are always encouraged to check community bulletin boards, local pet supply stores, veterinary clinic announcements, or the official website of the City of San Jose Parks and Recreation Department for any upcoming dog-related events or initiatives. These community-focused activities can enhance the overall experience for users of facilities like Butcher Dog Park by fostering a healthy, engaged, and responsible pet community.

Feb 20, 2025 · KT BoyleThe park is full of basketball instruments. The park also has a dedicated dog section. Also the slide they kept is a little complicated for young children. There are toilets and water facilities. You cannot take a jog in park as there are no dedicated paths for walking and jogging. However you can jog outside
May 19, 2025 · Vaibhav PuranikThis park is well maintained and clean. They usually have the dog park closed for the first 2 hours of the day to clean. There's plenty of shade and seating all around the dog park and a very serene atmosphere. The playgrounds are nearby different age groups, and a short way away there is a nice basketball court. There's plenty of open grass area to do other things. They have tables and pits, and a plus is the bathrooms. Nice place all in all.
May 21, 2025 · Bianca YrigollenWe stopped on to this park on a break during a long drive. The dog park is part of a much larger park that has a sport court and playground. The dog area is quite large. There are separate areas for small and large dogs. The best thing is more than half of the dog park is covered in turf. Dogs love turf. It's very clean and people are friendly. It's in a good part of town.
