Extremely Disappointed – Do Not Recommend I’m writing this review out of deep disappointment and concern regarding the care my dog received at this clinic. I had been a loyal client for years—this vet cared for my late dog through her final stages, including her cremation. So when I adopted my new dog, I naturally continued bringing him here for his wellness checks, neutering, and dental care. I considered myself an established and trusting client. However, my recent experience has completely changed that. After my dog lost a tooth just a few months after receiving extensive dental work and extractions (in July), I called the office to express concern. I was connected to a staff member named Emily, and this is where the situation took a turn for the worse. Emily informed me that my dog had a certain stage of periodontal disease—something I was never told during the post-procedure follow-up or any visit afterward. I was shocked and upset, especially considering how serious dental health is for dogs. When I pointed out that no one had ever informed me of this diagnosis, Emily dismissively replied, “Well, you’ve only been here once.” Not only was this factually wrong (I’ve had multiple appointments here with both of my dogs), but the tone and attitude she used were entirely unprofessional, condescending, and lacked the basic empathy you’d expect from anyone working in animal care. The interaction felt like gaslighting—completely disregarding my history as a client and speaking to me like I was just another number. No compassion, no accountability, no respect. Her attitude was truly one of the worst I’ve encountered in any customer service setting, let alone in a place that’s supposed to care about pets and their owners. Because of this experience, I will never return. I’ve also advised my friends and fellow pet parents to take their animals elsewhere. One bad recommendation carries a lot of weight—and in this case, it’s well-earned. If a vet clinic can’t provide transparency, communication, or basic courtesy to clients who trust them with their animals, they don’t deserve your business. It’s time the veterinary industry starts treating clients with the dignity and care they deserve. They lost me as a client, and hopefully, this review helps others make a more informed decision.

Welcome to ZippiVet

Welcome to ZippiVet, your dedicated partner in ensuring the health and well-being of your beloved pets in Austin, Texas. Situated at 221 S Lamar Blvd, ZippiVet operates as both a pet hospital and a pharmacy, striving to provide comprehensive services and convenient access to essential pet care products. Understanding the deep bond you share with your animal companions, ZippiVet aims to be a reliable resource for all their healthcare needs.

As a local pet hospital, ZippiVet offers a range of veterinary services designed to keep your furry, scaled, or feathered friends in optimal health. While specific details about their facilities and the full spectrum of their medical services aren't extensively available online, the general expectation of a pet hospital includes routine wellness checks, vaccinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatment for illnesses and injuries. Based on one customer review, ZippiVet has experience in performing surgical procedures such as neutering and providing dental care, including extractions. This suggests that they are equipped to handle both preventative and more involved medical needs for your pets.

The pharmacy aspect of ZippiVet provides a convenient way for pet owners to obtain prescribed medications and other healthcare products for their animals. This on-site availability can save you time and ensure that you have immediate access to the treatments your pet requires. Whether it's medication for a chronic condition, post-operative prescriptions, or preventative treatments, having a pharmacy integrated within the hospital streamlines the process of care.

Considering the environment of ZippiVet, the limited information available makes it challenging to paint a complete picture. However, a positive review highlights the staff's patience and ability to make a cat, typically averse to vet visits, feel comfortable. This suggests a caring and compassionate approach within the clinic. The mention of a staff member, Mel, who "always treats my cat amazingly and gives her lots of love and treats," indicates a focus on creating a positive and reassuring environment for animals, which is crucial for their well-being during potentially stressful visits.

In terms of features, the combination of a pet hospital and an on-site pharmacy is a significant advantage. This integration allows for seamless coordination between diagnosis, treatment, and medication dispensing. It can also facilitate better communication between the veterinary staff and pet owners regarding medication instructions and potential side effects. The fact that ZippiVet has served clients over several years, as indicated in the negative review mentioning years of loyalty, suggests an established presence within the Austin community.

However, it is essential to address a concerning negative review that details a deeply disappointing experience. This review raises serious concerns about communication, transparency, and customer service. The client recounts an incident where they were allegedly not informed about their dog's periodontal disease following extensive dental work. The subsequent interaction with a staff member named Emily is described as unprofessional, condescending, and lacking empathy. The reviewer felt their history as a loyal client was disregarded, leading to a feeling of being treated as just another number. This experience ultimately led the client to decide not to return and to advise others to seek veterinary care elsewhere.

It is crucial for potential local users to consider this feedback alongside the positive review. While one positive experience highlights patient and affordable service with caring staff, the negative review points to significant issues in communication and customer care that could impact a pet owner's trust and confidence in the clinic. It is advisable for prospective clients to perhaps inquire specifically about communication protocols, post-treatment follow-ups, and how the clinic ensures transparency regarding their pet's health conditions.

Promotional information for ZippiVet is not explicitly available in the provided data. Typically, pet hospitals and pharmacies might promote services such as seasonal vaccinations, dental health specials, or discounts on certain medications or wellness packages. Local users are encouraged to contact ZippiVet directly at (512) 643-4025 or +1 512-643-4025 to inquire about any current promotions, new services, or specific information regarding their pet's needs.

In conclusion, ZippiVet in Austin, TX, presents itself as a pet hospital with an integrated pharmacy, offering a range of services including wellness checks, dental care, and medication dispensing. A positive customer experience highlights patient and affordable service with caring staff who create a comfortable environment for pets. However, a significant negative review raises concerns about communication, transparency regarding diagnoses, and the professionalism of some staff interactions. Local users considering ZippiVet should weigh these perspectives and perhaps reach out directly to the clinic to assess if their approach aligns with their expectations for pet care and customer service. It is always recommended to have open communication with your pet's healthcare provider to ensure the best possible care for your animal companion. Further research and potentially a preliminary visit or phone consultation might be beneficial for new clients to form their own informed opinion.

Amazing service. My cat doesn’t like the vet, like many of our animals, but the staff is so patient and make her very comfortable. Also affordable and great service. Mel especially always treats my cat amazingly and gives her lots of love and treats! Highly recommended!

Our first experience with our new pup, Modelo, was an amazing one! From Emily, to Andrew, to Dr. Giusti- the team made the whole experience an 11/10 from start to finish! Our pup was happy and his energetic self even after receiving several vaccines and going through tests. So glad we found them!

Took our dog here for a sick visit. Process from beginning to end was simple, easy, and quick. They clearly set expectations and shared estimated prices before anything which was much appreciated. Dr. Giusti came in the room with no wait and took care of our dog with attention to detail. He was able to provide answers to a lot of our questions and we were very satisfied with the visit! Highly recommend Dr. Giusti when you visit!

My dog needed stitches and initially I went to an emergency vet that was going to charge me over $2,000 for a couple of stitches. Instead I called ZippiVet and they found me an appointment the morning of the following day for more than half the price. They texted me the night before and helped answer all my questions. The day of they took such incredible care of him. I could hear them comforting him during the surgery and kept checking up on us during recovery. They even cut his nails for free and gave him to blanket to lay on in recovery. Everyone was so sweet and thoughtful and made me feel so at ease. Highly recommend.
