Welcome to Young Veterinary Hospital: Young Ross DVM

Young Veterinary Hospital, featuring Dr. Ross Young DVM, is a "Pet Hospital" located at 14792 Ocean Hwy, Pawleys Island, SC 29585, USA. The hospital provides veterinary services to the local community, catering to the health and well-being of pets. The clinic's phone number is (843) 314-3411, and their mobile phone is +1 843-314-3411. This facility aims to offer medical care for companion animals, serving as a resource for pet owners in the Pawleys Island area.

Environment:

The environment at Young Veterinary Hospital evokes mixed sentiments from its clientele. Positive reviews frequently highlight a welcoming and caring atmosphere. Phrases like "The staff is lovely, friendly, and knowledgeable" suggest a pleasant and professional front-of-house experience. The sentiment that Dr. Young "has loved every fur baby in my world like they were her own" speaks to a compassionate and personal approach that fosters a comfortable and trusting environment for pets and their owners. This implies a warm and supportive setting where genuine care for animals is evident, aiming to put both pets and their guardians at ease during what can often be a stressful visit.

However, another review indicates a perceived shift in the clinic's operational environment. The comment "WOW has this vet changed" points to a notable difference in the client experience over time. The described process where "the staff has to talk to Dr. Ross for the price of each procedure to give you a price" suggests a less streamlined and potentially more bureaucratic environment regarding cost transparency and immediate information. This could lead to a feeling of less direct and immediate communication, and potentially create an environment of uncertainty regarding expenses, which could be off-putting for some clients. This suggests a contrast between the perceived personal care and the practical aspects of clinic management and pricing transparency.

Services:

As a Pet Hospital, Young Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Ross Young DVM typically offers a range of core veterinary services aimed at maintaining the health and well-being of companion animals. While the provided reviews do not detail an exhaustive list of services, common offerings at such a facility would include:

  • General Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups are fundamental for preventative care, allowing veterinarians to assess overall health, detect issues early, and provide guidance on pet well-being.
  • Vaccinations: Essential immunizations for common pet diseases to protect against various health threats.
  • Diagnostics: This would generally encompass in-house laboratory services for blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams, as well as imaging capabilities like X-rays, to aid in diagnosing internal conditions. The mention of a previous diagnosis of EIC (Exercise-Induced Collapse) for a dog suggests diagnostic capabilities for specific conditions.
  • Medical Treatment: Addressing a variety of illnesses, infections, and chronic conditions through medication, therapeutic interventions, and ongoing management.
  • Surgical Procedures: Common surgical procedures such as spaying and neutering are typically offered. The reference to a "spade" procedure for a 1-year-old female dog indicates this service is available.
  • Emergency Care: While not explicitly a 24/7 emergency clinic, the narrative implies they handle various medical situations, and a full-service hospital would generally accommodate urgent cases during operational hours.
  • Pain Management: Providing solutions for acute and chronic pain in pets.
  • Preventative Medication Dispensing: The ability to provide prescriptions for various needs, which would include preventative medications.

The pricing aspect of services, as highlighted in one review, is a significant point of consideration. The wide price range cited for a spay procedure ("4 to 850???") suggests potential variability or complexity in pricing, which could be a concern for pet owners seeking clear cost estimates upfront.

Features:

Young Veterinary Hospital exhibits several features that contribute to its character and client experience:

  • Experienced Veterinarian (Dr. Ross Young): Dr. Young is consistently named and praised by long-term clients for providing "fabulous care" and treating pets "like they were her own." Her personal dedication and long-standing presence are a key feature.
  • Personalized and Loving Care: The strongest positive feature is the perceived genuine love and individualized attention given to pets. This creates a deeply trusted relationship between the clinic and pet owners, where pets are seen as family members.
  • Friendly and Knowledgeable Staff: The support staff is noted for being "lovely, friendly, and knowledgeable," contributing significantly to a positive client interaction.
  • Long-Term Client Relationships: The presence of clients who have used Dr. Young's services for "many years" and for multiple family members and friends ("Ours, my father’s, my friends’") speaks to a high level of client loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Convenient Location: A client expresses gratitude for "wonderful care so close by," indicating the clinic's accessibility for residents in Pawleys Island.

However, there are also features that could be considered areas of concern:

  • Pricing Transparency and Variability: The process of staff needing to consult Dr. Ross for pricing "of each procedure" and the wide price range for a routine procedure like spaying suggest potential issues with upfront cost clarity and consistency. This can be a point of frustration for clients seeking predictable financial planning for pet care.

Promotional Information and Customer Insights:

Young Veterinary Hospital's primary promotional strength lies in the deep personal connections and long-term trust fostered by Dr. Ross Young and her staff. The most compelling promotional messages come directly from the glowing testimonials:

  • "Dr Young has been our vet for many years. Ours, my father’s, my friends’… she has loved every fur baby in my world like they were her own and provided fabulous care to all of them.": This highlights enduring loyalty, exceptional personal care, and a reputation that spans families and friends. It effectively promotes a highly trusted and beloved veterinarian.
  • "The staff is lovely, friendly, and knowledgeable.": Praises the entire team, underscoring a consistent positive experience.
  • "I’m so grateful for the wonderful care so close by. Thank y’all so much. Highly recommended without any hesitation!": A strong, unequivocal recommendation emphasizing both quality of care and convenience.

These positive reviews serve as powerful word-of-mouth marketing, attracting new clients who prioritize a compassionate and personal approach to veterinary care. The emphasis on pets being loved "like they were her own" is a significant emotional appeal to pet owners.

However, the promotional narrative is somewhat complicated by the negative feedback, which, while singular, highlights important practical considerations for potential clients. The comment "WOW has this vet changed" suggests a shift in operational procedures. The difficulty in obtaining clear pricing for procedures, specifically the "4 to 850???" for a spay, is a significant point of concern regarding pricing transparency and affordability. This feedback indicates that while the quality of care and personal touch might remain strong for many, aspects of client communication regarding costs could be an area needing attention for future clients.

Therefore, while Young Veterinary Hospital is highly recommended for its empathetic and skilled care from Dr. Young and her staff, particularly for long-standing clients who value the deep personal connection, potential new clients might want to inquire specifically about the pricing structure and get detailed estimates for procedures upfront to manage expectations regarding costs and financial transparency.

WOW has this vet changed. I remember when I took my Boykin there after collapsing. She told me it EIC. Now you go in and the staff has to talk to Dr. Ross for the price of each procedure to give you a price. I wanted to have my 1 year old female spade and we got a price of 4 to 850??? Never again.

I have three dogs, and Dr. Young has taken care of them like they were her own. We have had a few medical scares with them, and she has called us well after she closes to check on them and reassure us that they'll be ok. I recommend Dr. Young to every animal lover I know!

If Ross treated humans, she'd be our entire family's only doctor. Better than first rate!
