Never would I take my family animal here. For 30 years we were customers. On Feb 13th we took our precious Rags to see a vet as he was not doing well. First, we went in without an appointment when they first opened and told them it was an emergency, we were told that without an appointment we couldn’t see a vet for three hours. When we did return we were told that if we spent $700 we could find out what was wrong with our dog. We spent the money as we had had our dog for 151/2 years. We were told that our dog had pancreatitis and that it wasn’t life threatening, that if we proceeded with the medication he would be 50% better the next day. Thirteen hours later our beloved Rags died in my arms. The day (14th) we went to Woodmoor Vet Hospital to let them know Ragsdale wouldn’t be back for hie additional treatments. Could we have a small discount, the answer was no. Not only that but t the vet who had treated Rags , the one that told me he would be ok, now says he wasn’t surprised that he died WHAT! One day before he was to be 50% better, the next day after collecting the money, when Rags died, it wasn’t a surprise. No response from the vet who had treated Rags , no words of compassion or sympathy, absolutely nothing! I had visited Palmer Lake Vet in the Safeway parking lot in Monument in order to get Rags an AHC for travel, Evan though they never met Rags in person they sent us a condolence card and an email stating they were so sorry for our loss. Again , nothing from the vet we had used for over 30 years . If I could recommend Palmer Lake veterinary clinic any higher than 5 star I would. I will never recommend Woodmoor vet clinic as they show no compassion, no empathy, no sympathy, nothing at all when you lose your pet. Palmer Lake Vet Hospital is the only place I would take a new family member to.

Welcome to Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital

For pet owners in the Woodmoor, Colorado area seeking a "Pet Hospital" for their animal companions, Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital, located at 17950 Veterinary View, has been serving the community for a significant period. With a history spanning 30 years for at least one client, the hospital has seemingly built long-term relationships. However, recent customer feedback presents a mixed picture, with one review detailing a deeply negative experience contrasting with another highlighting positive aspects such as knowledgeable staff and accommodation for pets with special needs.

One detailed and highly critical review recounts a distressing experience involving the treatment of a 15 1/2-year-old dog named Rags. The owner initially presented Rags as an emergency without an appointment and was reportedly told there would be a three-hour wait. Upon returning, the owner stated they were informed that a $700 expenditure was required to diagnose the dog's condition. Despite the cost, the owner proceeded due to their long-term relationship with their pet. The diagnosis provided was pancreatitis, which was allegedly described as non-life-threatening, with an expectation of 50% improvement the following day with medication. Tragically, Rags passed away in the owner's arms just thirteen hours later.

The negative experience was compounded by the owner's subsequent interactions with Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital. Upon informing the hospital of Rags' passing and inquiring about a potential small discount on future treatments (presumably related to a previously discussed treatment plan), the request was denied. Furthermore, the owner was deeply disturbed to learn that the treating veterinarian, who had initially indicated Rags would improve, allegedly stated that Rags' death was not surprising. This perceived contradiction and lack of communication or empathy from the veterinarian caused significant distress to the grieving owner. The stark contrast with the compassionate response received from another veterinary clinic (Palmer Lake Vet) for an unrelated matter further emphasized the owner's disappointment with Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital's handling of their loss.

This detailed account raises serious concerns regarding the hospital's emergency protocols, the transparency and accuracy of diagnoses and prognoses, the communication between veterinarians and pet owners, and the level of compassion and empathy shown during a pet's critical illness and passing. The owner's strong condemnation and explicit refusal to recommend Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital based on this experience should be carefully considered by potential new clients.

In contrast, another, more positive review describes a "Great experience!" and praises the "Knowledgeable staff and vets!" This feedback suggests that some clients have had satisfactory interactions with the hospital's team and appreciate their expertise. Notably, this reviewer also highlighted the hospital's willingness to accommodate a dog with behavioral issues, stating that the staff is "always willing to accommodate our special needs during the visit." This indicates a potential strength in managing pets with anxiety or other behavioral challenges, creating a more comfortable environment for both the animal and the owner. The reviewer's feeling of being "accepted and comfortable" bringing their pets to Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital is a significant positive aspect.

Given these contrasting experiences, it is difficult to form a singular definitive picture of the environment, services, and features of Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital. However, we can attempt to synthesize the available information objectively:

  • Experienced Staff and Vets: At least one reviewer found the staff and veterinarians to be knowledgeable, suggesting a level of professional competence within the practice.
  • Accommodation for Special Needs Pets: The hospital appears willing to work with pets that have behavioral issues, indicating a degree of flexibility and understanding in their approach to different animal temperaments.
  • Emergency Protocols: The negative review raises concerns about the hospital's handling of emergency situations, particularly regarding wait times for walk-in emergencies.
  • Diagnostic Procedures: The hospital offers diagnostic services, as evidenced by the $700 workup performed on Rags. The specifics of their diagnostic capabilities are not detailed.
  • Treatment of Illnesses: The hospital provides treatment for various conditions, including pancreatitis. However, the accuracy of prognoses and the communication surrounding treatment plans are areas of concern based on one review.
  • End-of-Life Care: The negative review highlights a perceived lack of compassion and support during a pet's passing, which is a critical aspect of veterinary services.
  • Communication and Empathy: The contrasting reviews suggest variability in the quality of communication and the level of empathy shown to pet owners, particularly in difficult circumstances.

The environment of Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital is not explicitly described in either review. However, we can infer that it is a functioning veterinary clinic equipped to handle examinations, diagnostics, and treatments. The willingness to accommodate a dog with behavioral issues might suggest separate or quieter areas to minimize stress for such animals. However, the negative review does not provide any insight into the physical environment.

No information regarding specific promotional offers or programs at Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital is available in the provided reviews. Many veterinary clinics offer introductory discounts for new clients, wellness plans, or seasonal promotions, but there is no mention of such initiatives in the feedback provided.

In conclusion, Woodmoor Veterinary Hospital in Woodmoor, CO, presents a complex picture based on the limited feedback available. While one reviewer praises the knowledgeable staff and the accommodating approach towards pets with special needs, another recounts a deeply negative experience involving a critical illness, perceived misdiagnosis, poor communication, and a lack of compassion. Potential clients should be aware of these contrasting experiences. The positive feedback suggests that some pet owners have found the hospital to be competent and caring, particularly in accommodating pets with behavioral challenges. However, the serious concerns raised in the negative review regarding emergency care, transparency, and empathy, especially during end-of-life situations, warrant careful consideration. Prospective clients may wish to inquire directly about the hospital's protocols for emergency cases, their communication practices, and their approach to providing compassionate support during difficult times before making a decision about their pet's care.

Great experience! Knowledgeable staff and vets! One of our dogs has behavioral issues and they are always willing to accommodate our special needs during the visit. It’s not always easy when you are the person with “that dog,” but we feel accepted and comfortable bringing our pet(s) to Woodmoor. :)

We have been clients of Woodmoor Vet for 16 years and seen a lot of changes - some positive, some not so much. But! The reason we stay there is because Dr. Lianne Baker is a true gem. She is beyond thorough and explores every avenue to help animals without running up the bill needlessly. Over the past 18+ months one of my dogs began losing hair, then muscle tone. Another vet wrote it off as allergies. It was not. I made sure we only saw Dr. Baker from then on and she was amazing, often calling me after hours to discuss her research, lab findings, and just to generally check in. Tests ultimately confirmed that my dog had Cushing’s but by that point his quality of life had deteriorated so significantly, I made the heartbreaking decision to let him go. Shelly, Kaylie and Dr. Baker made what is a horrible experience as good as it could be and I am forever grateful to have such wonderfully caring and empathic professionals I can count on to care for my pups as if they are their own.

Fast profession service on this trip. Daisy was supposed to get some shots, but due certain health conditions, the tech decided that Daisy needed to see a vet doc. She rescheduled me and did not charge a tech fees.

Dr. Homme is the best. He takes the time to explain everything to you about what is going on with your pet. You can tell he really loves his job. The office staff and vet technician are wonderful too.
