turning away an animal in PAIN (that was already at the office) because it's lunch time and you have to go make your TEENAGE children lunch!? The client called and said they were running behind due to construction and was told that it was fine but then gets turned away and refused to be seen because "the Dr is too busy" which was clearly a lie because she was still there but then LEFT TO GO MAKE HER TEENAGE CHILDREN LUNCH. This poor family had to deal with not only the fact that their baby was suffering and needed to be euthanized (the reason for the visit) on top of having to deal with a POS "Dr" who refused to see them after she already paid a deposit and had an appt. Dr Lauren Wisser should be ashamed of herself and should probably find a new profession bc this one is clearly NOT for her. After reading all of the bad reviews, I hope people stop bringing their animals here.

This practice functions as a "Pet Hospital" that offers a unique blend of in-home and in-clinic veterinary services. Dr. Wisser has over 18 years of experience in the veterinary field, having obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Auburn University in 2000 and her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University in 2004. She works with a variety of animals, including cats, dogs, birds, and most exotic pets. For appointments or inquiries, you can reach Dr. Wisser and her team at (585) 519-4140 or via mobile at +1 585-519-4140.
The "environment" of care provided by Dr. Lauren Wisser and Genesee Valley Visiting Vet, PLLC is primarily characterized by its dual nature. The practice originated as a veterinary house call service in 2010, meaning a significant portion of its services are delivered directly in the client's home. This in-home model offers immense benefits for pets who experience stress or anxiety in a traditional clinic setting, or for owners with multiple pets, mobility issues, or limited transportation. It allows for examinations and treatments to occur in a familiar and comforting environment for the animal. In addition to house calls, Dr. Wisser's practice also maintains a physical office in Mt Morris, NY. This office serves as a dedicated facility for more complex procedures, such as surgeries, that require specialized equipment or a sterile environment. The existence of both options speaks to a flexible approach to veterinary care, aiming to maximize convenience and comfort for both pets and their owners. While specific details on the ambiance or aesthetics of the Mt Morris office are not provided, the operational model suggests a focus on practical functionality and patient-centric care.
Dr. Lauren Wisser and Genesee Valley Visiting Vet, PLLC offer a broad spectrum of veterinary services, catering to a diverse range of pet health needs. Their services are designed to be accessible and comprehensive:
- General Examinations & Preventative Care: This includes routine physical examinations, which are the cornerstone of proactive pet health management. They also cover essential preventative measures like vaccinations, which are tailored to a pet's lifestyle, and discussions on parasite prevention (heartworm, tick-borne diseases, internal parasites).
- Laboratory Testing: The practice provides various laboratory tests, which can often be conducted during house calls, offering convenience for sample collection. These tests include annual screenings and baseline blood work to monitor health trends over time.
- Treatment of Medical Diseases: They manage and treat a range of medical conditions that do not necessitate extensive hospitalization or complex surgical interventions.
- Surgical Services: A notable strength, as highlighted in a positive review, is their capability in performing surgeries. Dr. Lauren has significant experience, having performed over 3500 spays and neuters in her career, with over 2500 in the past five years alone. The new office facility in Mt Morris is equipped for surgical procedures, including routine spays/neuters and more complex operations like cystotomies, mass removals, and various soft tissue surgeries.
- Dental Care: While professional dental cleaning procedures with necessary extractions were noted as "coming soon" due to a change in office location, this indicates a clear intent to provide this crucial service in the future, recognizing the prevalence and importance of periodontal disease in pets.
- Ultrasound Services: They offer advanced diagnostic imaging with ultrasound services available both in-home and in-clinic. This includes abdominal, cardiac, pregnancy confirmations, ocular, and periocular ultrasounds, providing detailed insights into internal organ health.
- Telemedicine: To address transportation challenges or minor concerns, telemedicine appointments are available. Dr. Lauren can conduct video evaluations and manage many medical conditions remotely, with medications and prescription diets conveniently delivered via their online pharmacy.
- Quality of Life & End-of-Life Care: The practice provides compassionate support for senior pets or those with terminal illnesses. Dr. Lauren works closely with pet owners to determine the best approach for end-of-life experiences, including guidance on home care and euthanasia to ensure comfort and minimize suffering.
- Emergency and Urgent Care: While the clinic advertises the ability to handle emergency appointments, the provided reviews offer conflicting perspectives on emergency response. One review indicates a client being directed to an external emergency vet despite the clinic advertising emergency services, citing a lack of availability during what was deemed lunch break. However, the practice also provides clear referral information for larger emergency veterinary centers (Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center and Cornell Companion Animal Hospital) for situations beyond their immediate capacity.
Dr. Lauren Wisser and Genesee Valley Visiting Vet, PLLC exhibit several key features:
- Extensive Surgical Experience: Dr. Wisser's high volume of spay/neuter surgeries demonstrates significant practical experience in these common procedures, providing confidence to owners seeking such services.
- Mobile and In-Clinic Versatility: The hybrid model of offering both house calls and in-office appointments is a significant advantage, catering to a wider range of client needs and pet temperaments.
- Proactive Communication (in some instances): A positive review highlights excellent communication, with clear explanations and post-operative updates, including photographs, which is a commendable practice for client reassurance.
- Focus on Preventative Health: The emphasis on early disease recognition, vaccinations, and parasite prevention showcases a commitment to long-term pet health and proactive care.
- Varied Client Experiences: It is important to objectively present the contrast in client feedback. While some reviews praise excellent surgical outcomes, clear communication, and affordability, a highly critical review raises severe concerns about accessibility during a critical emergency, perceived dismissiveness, and diagnostic accuracy, leading to tragic outcomes. This divergence suggests that while the practice has strong points, consistent client satisfaction and emergency preparedness can be areas of concern for some.
- Affordability: One client specifically noted that Dr. Wisser's prices for services like spay surgery were significantly more affordable than other veterinarians in the Rochester area, making her practice an attractive option for budget-conscious pet owners.
The promotional efforts of Dr. Lauren Wisser and Genesee Valley Visiting Vet, PLLC are largely built on their service model and client feedback, which presents a mixed picture:
- Convenience as a Core Offering: The house call service is a major draw, actively promoted to appeal to pet owners seeking stress-free and accessible veterinary care.
- Transparent Service Offerings: Their online presence details the various services, including advanced diagnostics like ultrasound and telemedicine, which showcases their modern capabilities.
- Affordability as a Key Selling Point: The competitive pricing, as highlighted by a client traveling from Rochester, is a significant promotional advantage in attracting new patients.
- Positive Testimonials: The glowing reviews for surgical expertise, clear communication, and positive post-operative outcomes are valuable assets in attracting clients for specific procedures.
- Client Referral Programs and Product Rebates: Incentives like a "$25 credit" for referrals and rebates on pet products actively encourage client loyalty and word-of-mouth promotion.
- Addressing Negative Feedback: While the hospital advertises emergency care, the stark negative review regarding a critical emergency highlights a potential disconnect in service delivery or perception that potential clients might encounter online. For an objective introduction, acknowledging the presence of such feedback is necessary, as it informs user perception and decision-making when considering the practice.
In summary, Dr. Lauren Wisser and Genesee Valley Visiting Vet, PLLC offer a distinctive approach to veterinary care in Mt Morris, NY, combining the convenience of in-home services with the necessary facilities for in-clinic procedures. While praised for surgical expertise, communication in certain cases, and competitive pricing, potential clients should carefully weigh all available information, including both positive and negative client experiences, to determine if this "Pet Hospital" aligns with their specific needs and expectations for comprehensive and responsive veterinary care.

Jun 30, 2024 · Amanda Becker5 stars across the board. Dr. Lauren was recommended to me for a spay surgery. She responded quickly after I submitted my form on the website. She explained everything very clearly, shared her background with me and gave me an opportunity to ask questions of her. I traveled from Rochester, NY and it’s a short drive to her practice. Her prices are what initially brought me to her, veterinarians in the Rochester are are asking 3x to almost 4x times as much for the exact same services!! On procedure day, Dr. Lauren treated us with a smile, detailed information and another opportunity to ask questions-I knew my kitten was in good hands. I had the same great interaction at pick up. Clear take home instructions. The kitten was not overly groggy post procedure which made after care easier. Do yourself a favor and call Dr. Lauren Wisser when looking for veterinary care, you will be very happy that you did.
Sep 29, 2020 · Cate CiccoloneThe doctore doesn't care about animals at all. She turned away a suffering and in pain animal just to go lunch you should be ashamed. They over charge. Plus you can't trust anyone who won't even let you see what they are doing to your animal because they make you wait outside. Do not go here.
Jul 04, 2024 · Brittney CaccamiseWe called earlier this week to see if we could have our dog, an old boy on his last legs who had taken a turn for the worse, euthanized at home. We got everything set up, answered all of the questions, got a time set for today. (We ended up getting a confusing email about a different time for the appointment but didn’t question it and prepared ourselves since the times were close anyway). This morning, the day of the euthanasia, my mother got a call from the vet, who apparently fired the receptionist who spoke with us out of the blue, then told us she needed to charge extra for bloodwork, which is… understandable but why wasn’t that mentioned earlier? Then upon finding out that my mother isn’t vaccinated despite a negative COVID test this week told us we would have to have all of this done OUTSIDE regardless of PPE and precautions. In the freezing weather we would have to set our arthritic, dying dog in the cold for her to do bloodwork and tests and then euthanize him which would take time when the sole purpose of him being here is for him to be comfortable in his remaining time. My mother even offered for me, fully vaccinated, masked, to handle things and have this done in the doorway of our home while my mother stayed away so our poor boy could at least be a LITTLE comfortable and a little bit warmer. Nope. That wasn’t allowed either. I entirely understand anxieties about COVID-19, but given the endless miscommunication and refusal to work with any of us, especially with all else considered? Horrible conduct. Our boy deserves better than that. Glad we decided to cancel for his sake, even though I don’t agree with how my mother handled the cancellation, better to scramble to find someone else last minute who would treat our dog well than let our boy go through more.
Jan 20, 2022 · Cassie MarriottI highly recommend Lauren. She was able to see us with only an hours notice, she was very cautious about COVID safety, and she was very calm, kind, professional, and understanding even with my hysteric family.
