DO NOT COME HERE! I hate leaving bad reviews but when the lives of animals are at risk I must caution people - I've attached a photo so people know this is a REAL REVIEW and I was coming here for a follow up issue to a past visit - this place should care for the animals they treat IF YOU DONT CARE DONT WORK THIS JOB - their hours are all completely wrong NOTHING LISTED ON THEIR WEBSITE - we brought our bird here in a rush and they turned him away even though he was on the verge of death, receptionist said "I'm at lunch" REALLY? According to receptionist the doctor McMillian isn't there on Thursdays and supposedly only have surgeries on Thursdays, WHERE WAS THAT LISTED ANYWHERE? WEBSITE? WOW! Receptionists are all extremely rude and terrible at their job, no one answers the phone and they have no voicemail SERIOUSLY? The customer service terrible, how are they even still in business and really shameful consider I brought my bird here who was on the verge of death. I'm reporting to the BBB as we speak. SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE!!!

Welcome to Windhover Veterinary Center

Windhover Veterinary Center, located at 944 Main St A, Walpole, MA 02081, USA, is listed under the platform category of Pet Hospitals, indicating that it is intended to provide veterinary care services and potentially offer related goods for pets in the Walpole, Massachusetts area. As a local pet hospital, it is positioned to serve the healthcare needs of animal companions within the community. However, it is crucial for prospective clients to consider all available information, including recent customer feedback, to make informed decisions about their pet's care.

Based on recent reviews from individuals who have interacted with Windhover Veterinary Center, there appear to be significant concerns regarding various aspects of their operations. These concerns span multiple areas, including accessibility, communication, and the level of care provided, particularly in emergency situations. It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and may not reflect the entirety of the services offered. However, they warrant careful consideration for pet owners seeking veterinary care.

One of the most serious allegations in the reviews pertains to the handling of an emergency situation involving a pet bird. According to the customer, despite bringing their bird in a critical condition, they were allegedly turned away. The reason given by the receptionist was reportedly "I'm at lunch." This incident raises significant questions about the hospital's protocols for emergency care and the availability of staff during listed business hours, especially considering the reviewer's claim that the website's hours are inaccurate.

Further feedback highlights issues with the availability of the veterinarian, Dr. McMillian. One review mentions being informed by a receptionist that Dr. McMillian is not available on Thursdays and that surgeries are supposedly scheduled only on Thursdays. The reviewer expressed frustration that this information was not readily available on the website or elsewhere, potentially leading to inconvenience and unmet needs for pet owners seeking specific services or consultations on particular days.

Several reviewers have also expressed dissatisfaction with the reception staff and the overall customer service. Complaints include allegations of rudeness, difficulty in contacting the office via phone (with claims of no answer and no voicemail), and poor communication. These issues can create significant barriers for pet owners trying to schedule appointments, seek urgent care, or obtain necessary information about their pet's health. Effective communication and a responsive front office are vital components of a positive and reliable veterinary service.

Concerns have also been raised regarding communication within the office staff and specifically with Dr. McMillan. One reviewer suggested that there might be issues with follow-through on requests made during visits. This lack of internal communication can lead to errors in care, unmet expectations, and frustration for pet owners who rely on clear and accurate information regarding their pet's treatment plans.

An update from one of the reviewers, responding to what appears to be a comment from the owner, further elaborates on alleged issues. This includes claims of past communication gaps leading to problems with boarding arrangements for their birds and allegations of unnecessary charges for services that were reportedly not performed. The reviewer also reiterated their negative experiences with a suggested boarding arrangement with a staff member, which allegedly resulted in a cancellation due to lack of communication.

Given the nature of the feedback, it is challenging to objectively describe the environment, services, and features of Windhover Veterinary Center based solely on these reviews. The negative experiences shared by multiple individuals paint a concerning picture regarding the operational efficiency, communication practices, and potentially the accessibility of care, especially in urgent situations. While the reviews do not provide specific details about the physical environment of the clinic, the reported issues with staff interactions and service delivery are significant factors for prospective clients to consider.

Due to the overwhelmingly negative nature of the recent feedback, it is impossible to ascertain any positive features or promotional information that might typically be associated with a pet hospital. The focus of the reviews is on alleged failures in service delivery, communication breakdowns, and concerns about the responsiveness of the staff and the veterinarian. Therefore, it would be misleading to speculate on any positive attributes without further objective information or a broader range of customer experiences.

Prospective local users considering Windhover Veterinary Center for their pet care needs should carefully review the available feedback and potentially seek additional information from other sources. It is advisable to contact the clinic directly to inquire about their services, hours of operation, emergency protocols, and any specific policies that may be relevant to their pet's needs. Given the serious nature of the concerns raised in the reviews, it would be prudent to weigh these factors carefully when making a decision about where to entrust the health and well-being of your animal companion.

In conclusion, the recent online feedback for Windhover Veterinary Center in Walpole, MA, raises significant concerns regarding their service, communication, and handling of emergency situations. Local pet owners should carefully consider these reviews and conduct their own due diligence before choosing this pet hospital for their veterinary care needs. It is recommended to seek further information directly from the clinic and possibly consult other local pet owners for a broader perspective on available veterinary services in the area.

Terrible communication within the office staff, and doctor McMillan specifically. She may be a decent enough veterinarian however her age may be clouding her ability to properly complete, understand and follow through with what you request at your visit. Time to retire maybe? Definitely time to find a new veterinarian for our feathered babies. UPDATE: Response to response from owner... Yes, actually BOTH of my birds Coqi and Yoshi very much are patients there. Infact, we almost weren't able to board our birds for our vacation in June when we made a special appointment to get the necessary documents and testing which was NEVER done and we were left scrambling last minute.. actually this was the second time there was a serious communication gap. Perhaps it's possible that our birds have my partners last name and not mine. Maybe time for staff to have a team building and communication workshop! I'm certain that my cognitive abilities are fully intact though. I also see that I'm not the first pet Mom here to comment on unnecessary charges for services that were told were being done yet NEVER happened. Also don't waste your time and take the suggestion of boarding with their staff person because we tried that last year and at time of drop off the boarding professional simply ignored our call and we were forced to cancel plans. Maybe Dr McMillan is simply to grandiose about herself to realize that she's old and senility might be kicking in! Do your proper due diligence before claiming I've never been a patient there. Like I said mine and my partners birds have her last name.. Do better and learn to admit when you're in the wrong馃憤馃榿

Dr. McMillan is an incredibly experienced and knowledgeable vet that has helped me in so many ways. She is the ONLY vet in this area that specializes in the care of BIRDS!! She saved my canary from death on more than one occasion. Her careful and thoughtful approach to my dogs care has made a huge difference in the quality of his life. Her staff are friendly and helpful. This clinic offers pain management services with Jane Epstein that will exceed your expectations. Shock therapy, laser light therapy, massage, hydro therapy, assisi mats, and much more are part of their rehabilitation services, and Jane is a huge asset to their organization. You will love her! I can't say enough about the quality of care you will receive here. The only negative about this practice is that they have limited hours and don't offer after hours care. They refer you out to another practice. If this isn't a show stopper for you, give them a try!

Dr. McMillan is a phenomenal avian vet. She's always taken the best of care for my ducks and chickens. I would never go anywhere else!

Absolutely love Dr. McMillan and have been going to her since the 80s with my birds, greyhounds, cats and chihuahuas鉂o笍 I love her homeopathic treatment for my furbabies. She is the reason I learned Reiki and got into holistic treatments for my pets and myself. She has seen me through thick and thin over the years. My greyhound Silver was one of the first clients with Sterling Impressions. I am in the process of moving and will miss her and her staff dearly.
