We are not local to Mount Pleasant. Purchased livestock in the area on several occasions. Each time we used these guys. Each time received the same professional “as a matter of fact” service. No BS. Easy to get answers to what you need. Very well equipped to handle livestock.

Welcome to Wickham Veterinary Services

Welcome to the local introduction of Wickham Veterinary Services, a dedicated establishment categorized under "Pet Hospital" that focuses primarily on providing specialized veterinary care for livestock. Located at 701 Winfield Ave, Mt Pleasant, IA 52641, USA, Wickham Veterinary Services serves the animal health needs of the local and surrounding areas. While their primary focus lies in large animal care, it's essential for local users to understand the specific services they offer and the experiences of other clients.

Wickham Veterinary Services can be contacted via phone at (319) 385-2277 or mobile phone at +1 319-385-2277. These contact details are crucial for local users seeking veterinary assistance for their livestock.

Based on available online reviews, Wickham Veterinary Services appears to have a strong reputation among livestock owners in the region, particularly those who are not local to Mount Pleasant but have purchased animals in the area. One customer highlights their consistent experience of receiving professional and straightforward service, emphasizing a "no BS" approach and ease in obtaining necessary information. This suggests a team that is knowledgeable and efficient in handling livestock-related health concerns.

The same review specifically mentions that Wickham Veterinary Services is "very well equipped to handle livestock." This is a significant feature for local users involved in animal agriculture, indicating that the facility possesses the necessary infrastructure, equipment, and expertise to manage the health and well-being of large animals. This could include facilities for examination, treatment, surgery (if applicable to livestock), and potentially housing for animals requiring extended care.

However, it is important to present a balanced view based on all available information. Another review indicates a different experience, where a user seeking care for small animals reported a negative interaction. According to this review, the phone was answered rudely, and the caller was abruptly informed that the clinic does not deal with small animals, followed by the call being disconnected without any recommendations. This suggests that Wickham Veterinary Services has a clear specialization in livestock and may not cater to the needs of owners of companion animals like cats and dogs. Local users seeking veterinary care for small animals should be aware of this specialization.

Considering the primary categorization as "Pet Hospital," it's crucial for local users to understand the scope of services offered by Wickham Veterinary Services. While the term "pet" can encompass various animals, the available information strongly indicates a focus on livestock. Therefore, local farmers, ranchers, and individuals involved in raising cattle, swine, sheep, goats, or other farm animals will likely find their expertise and facilities well-suited to their needs.

For local users with livestock, Wickham Veterinary Services potentially offers a range of essential services. These could include:

  • Routine health check-ups and preventative care for livestock.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and injuries specific to large animals.
  • Vaccinations and parasite control programs tailored for different livestock species.
  • Reproductive health services, such as artificial insemination, pregnancy diagnosis, and birthing assistance.
  • Surgical procedures relevant to livestock health and management.
  • Nutritional counseling and advice for optimal livestock health and productivity.
  • Emergency veterinary services for livestock (availability and scope may vary).
  • Herd health management and consultation for optimizing the health and productivity of animal populations.

The "professional 'as a matter of fact' service" mentioned in the positive review suggests an efficient and direct approach to veterinary care, which can be particularly valuable in time-sensitive situations involving livestock health. The ability to easily get answers to questions indicates good communication regarding the health status and treatment plans for the animals.

While specific promotional information is not available in the provided data, local users can benefit from contacting Wickham Veterinary Services directly to inquire about their current service offerings, any specialized programs, or if they participate in any local agricultural initiatives. Building a direct relationship with the clinic will allow livestock owners to understand their complete service portfolio and how it can benefit their operations.

In conclusion, Wickham Veterinary Services, categorized as a "Pet Hospital," primarily functions as a specialized veterinary care provider for livestock in Mt Pleasant, Iowa, and the surrounding areas. They are recognized by some clients for their professional, efficient service and well-equipped facilities for handling large animals. However, it is important for local users to note that they do not appear to cater to small animals. For livestock owners in the region, Wickham Veterinary Services represents a valuable resource for maintaining the health and well-being of their farm animals. It is recommended that local users involved in animal agriculture reach out to them directly to discuss their specific needs and learn more about how Wickham Veterinary Services can support their operations.

Answered The phone very rudely and just proceeded to tell me he does not deal with small animals, hung up without saying bye, or giving any recommendations. Acted as if I was an inconvenience to him.

Called about a piglet I saved from the side of a busy highway, my vets office doesn’t handle livestock so they recommended Wickham. Gave them a call just wanted to have the animal looked over to make sure it was alright and he acted as if I was inconveniencing him and didn’t want my business. Not a good way to conduct business, I was disappointed to say the least. It would not allow me to give ZERO stars but that’s what I feel is deserved.
