Louie always gets a lot of attention here. They trim his nails, give him his allergy shot, and make sure he is a healthy, happy little guy. The staff is nice. They have a picture wall of the pets that go there:)

Welcome to Wheatfield Animal Hospital
For pet owners in North Tonawanda, NY, and the surrounding areas, **Wheatfield Animal Hospital** emerges as a distinguished establishment within the "Pet Hospital" category. Situated at 3421 Niagara Fls Blvd, North Tonawanda, NY 14120, USA, this clinic is recognized for its comprehensive veterinary services, extending particularly to urgent care situations and specialized animal needs, such as exotic pets. As a "Pet Hospital," Wheatfield Animal Hospital is equipped to provide a wide array of medical interventions, from routine preventative care to complex emergency treatments and compassionate end-of-life support, all delivered with remarkable empathy and professionalism.
The **environment** at Wheatfield Animal Hospital is characterized by its welcoming and caring atmosphere. While direct physical descriptions are limited, the presence of a "picture wall of the pets that go there" immediately suggests a warm, community-oriented space that celebrates the animal patients. This personal touch contributes to a friendly and comfortable setting for both pets and their owners. More importantly, the staff's demeanor significantly shapes the environment; they are consistently described as "nice," "compassionate," "helpful," and having excellent "bedside manner." This creates an atmosphere where clients feel supported and understood, even during highly stressful or emotional times, ensuring a dignified and respectful experience for both the animal and their family.
The **services** offered by Wheatfield Animal Hospital are broad, catering to the diverse health needs of various animal companions. They provide essential routine care, as evidenced by a client's dog, Louie, receiving "allergy shot" and "nails trimmed," along with general wellness checks to ensure he is "a healthy, happy little guy." This indicates their capability in preventative and ongoing medical management for common conditions. Crucially, the hospital excels in providing **urgent and emergency care**, as highlighted by their willingness to take in a ferret experiencing "cluster seizures" even when the owner was not an existing client and "no other vet in the area would get us in." This demonstrates a vital commitment to animal welfare and an ability to respond to critical situations, positioning them as a reliable resource for pet emergencies.
A particularly standout service, and a testament to their compassionate care, is their handling of **euthanasia and end-of-life support**. The detailed account of the ferret's passing reveals a level of sensitivity and personalized care that is profoundly impactful. Wheatfield Animal Hospital allowed the owner to "be with him" during the process, and importantly, offered "euthanization through a catheter for ferrets," a critical detail that "no other vet in the area offered." This specialized consideration for a specific animal type, coupled with allowing the owner to hold and pet their beloved pet "the entire time," showcases an exceptional commitment to providing a dignified and peaceful farewell. Furthermore, the clinic went above and beyond by providing "molds of his foot prints and some of his fur per my request," offering cherished mementos to aid in the grieving process. This comprehensive approach to end-of-life care is a rare and highly valued service within the "Pet Hospital" category.
Several key **features** distinguish Wheatfield Animal Hospital. Their **willingness to accept new clients and urgent cases, even for exotic pets**, when other clinics might not, is a significant advantage. This demonstrates their flexibility, their commitment to providing care regardless of prior client status, and their expertise in treating a wider range of species beyond typical cats and dogs. The staff's **exceptional compassion and patience** are consistently highlighted. They were "really nice about the fact that the weather was bad and I ended up being late," showing understanding and flexibility, and the doctor still saw the pet despite the delay. This patient and accommodating approach reduces client stress and enhances the overall experience.
The clinic's **attention to detail and personalized care** is another strong feature. Beyond medical treatment, they provide emotional support and facilitate bonding moments, like allowing extended time during euthanasia and offering memorial keepsakes. The "picture wall of the pets that go there" further emphasizes this personalized touch, creating a sense of community and warmth. Their dedication to ensuring pets are "healthy, happy little guy" suggests a proactive and thorough approach to wellness care, providing attention that makes each visit special.
For **promotional information**, the heartfelt and detailed customer testimonials are the most powerful form of advocacy for Wheatfield Animal Hospital. The story of the ferret's urgent care and compassionate passing is a particularly compelling narrative that speaks volumes about the clinic's values and capabilities. The specific mention of unique services like catheter euthanasia for ferrets, and the provision of paw prints and fur, highlights a level of personalized care that truly sets them apart from other veterinary providers. The general praise for the "nice staff" and the overall positive experience for routine visits, such as Louie's allergy shots and nail trims, reinforce their reliability for ongoing care. The clear availability of contact information, phone at (716) 693-3141 and mobile at +1 716-693-3141, along with their address at 3421 Niagara Fls Blvd, North Tonawanda, NY 14120, USA, makes it easy for prospective clients to reach out. May 06, 2025 · Katherine RankinThey took my ferret last week when we were not even clients due to cluster seizures and no other vet in the area would get us in. It was very scary for me and the staff was all very compassionate and helpful. I live far from here and they were really nice about the fact that the weather was bad and I ended up being late, the doctor saw us anyway. Unfortunately I ended up deciding to put my baby to rest, it was the hardest thing i had ever done, but they allowed me to be with him which means the world to me. No other vet in the area offered euthanization through a catheter for ferrets which was heartbreaking. I went there knowing that I may not bring him home and I may not be able to be with him when they helped him pass, and i was pleasantly surprised when I was allowed to be with him and noe i can take solace in the fact that i was able to hold and pet him the entire time. They also gave me molds of his foot prints and some of his fur per my request. Other vets lack a lot of bedside manner, but this was not the case in my experience. The entire staff was great. I wish i could remember their names. Thank you all..
Feb 10, 2025 · amanda hefnerMy dog was not a patient and needed immediate attention. The office took Tessa as a new patient and gave her a same day appointment. The staff was absolutely amazing with the care and attention they gave to Tessa. How compassionate the entire staff was. From all the receptionist, to the technicians, to the doctor,. They are a very special group of people and we are lucky to have them in our community.
Nov 17, 2024 · Dana PrattConsidering this was an emergency last second visit for someone who’s never been to this clinic, everyone was so incredibly nice, they saw us very quickly, and I didn't feel pressured to pay for the most expensive treatments, just what my baby, Bean, needed. I’ve dealt with vets in the past that can make it feel like your fur baby is an object that doesn’t deserve an emotional response, but that was absolutely not the case here. So very pleased with the experience, and I definitely will be bringing all three of my kitties there as soon as we can (and hopefully just for a normal checkup!!)
Nov 22, 2024 · Elena MarshallThe girls at the front desk were very nice. As a first time dog owner they answered all our questions and they were very patience with us. The rest of the staff was just as amazing too. Dr. Ashley took wonderful care of my fur baby. She too answered all questions and was very professional and polite. Thank you all for your kindness.
