Thank you doctor Molly and co for jumping to action when my bulldog Kaia leaped out of my car and broke her femur, while I was driving. I felt so bad for Kaia, and ashamed at myself for this to happen. You all cared for my sweet dog, giving her pain medicine, assistance with walking, lots of love, and showed kindness to me as well. Your staff helped me secure an ER who could take Kaia in for surgery ASAP. Kaia still adores going to the vet, even after this horrific accident. When we arrive, she wags her tail, and wants to get pets and say hi to everyone when we arrive. She especially adores staff member Anj, who was first to respond when we called in after Kaia’s emergency, and carried a limp and bloody 65 pound Kaia into the clinic on her own. I’ll never forget this. I feel like Kaia’s adoration of her vet’s office and the staff is a telling sign of how animals are treated here. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Chelsea and Kaia

Welcome to Westbrook Veterinary Hospital
Westbrook Veterinary Hospital, located at 2 Belchertown Rd, Pelham, MA 01002, USA, is a dedicated "Pet Hospital" providing essential veterinary care to the local community. The hospital can be reached by phone at (413) 253-7797 or via mobile at +1 413-253-7797. The reviews highlight the hospital's critical role in emergency situations and its consistent delivery of compassionate and professional care.
The environment at Westbrook Veterinary Hospital, while not explicitly detailed in terms of aesthetics, is characterized by a high level of preparedness and a deeply caring atmosphere, especially during emergencies. As a "Pet Hospital," it is expected to be a clinically sterile and organized facility, equipped to handle a wide range of medical conditions, from routine check-ups to critical surgeries. The testimonial about Kaia's severe injury, where the staff "jumped to action" and an ER was secured "ASAP," indicates an efficient and well-coordinated emergency response system within the hospital's operating environment. Furthermore, the emphasis on providing "lots of love" and showing "kindness" to both the injured pet and the distressed owner paints a picture of a compassionate and supportive setting. The fact that Kaia, despite a traumatic experience, "still adores going to the vet, ...wags her tail, and wants to get pets and say hi to everyone," is a powerful testament to the positive and reassuring environment cultivated by the staff. This suggests that the hospital's spaces, along with the gentle approach of its personnel, successfully mitigate fear and anxiety in animals, creating a welcoming atmosphere even for those with past negative experiences. The willingness of staff member Anj to physically carry a "limp and bloody 65 pound Kaia" into the clinic on her own further illustrates the dedication and hands-on, immediate response capabilities that define their care environment.
As a "Pet Hospital," Westbrook Veterinary Hospital offers a comprehensive range of veterinary services, demonstrating its capacity to handle both routine and emergency situations. Based on the provided reviews, their services extend to critical care and specialized attention. Key services highlighted and implied include:
- Emergency and Urgent Care: The immediate response to Kaia's broken femur and the prompt care for a dog with a "bleeding quick" clearly indicate a strong capability for handling veterinary emergencies and urgent medical needs. This includes immediate pain management and stabilization.
- Trauma and Orthopedic Injury Management: The successful handling of Kaia's broken femur, including assistance with walking and securing an ER for surgery, points to expertise in managing significant orthopedic trauma. While they might refer out for highly specialized surgeries, their role in initial stabilization and post-operative care is evident.
- General Veterinary Care: While the reviews focus on emergencies, a "Pet Hospital" by definition also provides standard services such as routine physical examinations, vaccinations, preventative care, and general health maintenance. The long-term adoration of the vet by Kaia suggests ongoing wellness care.
- Pain Management: Providing "pain medicine" for Kaia highlights their commitment to animal comfort and effective pain management protocols.
- Compassionate Animal Handling: The ability to make animals feel safe and loved, even after traumatic events, indicates skilled and gentle animal handling techniques.
- Client Support and Communication: The staff's kindness and assistance to the distressed owner (Chelsea) in securing specialized care (ER for surgery) demonstrate a comprehensive approach that includes supporting the human element of pet care. The review for Lichtenberg Vet (mentioned as a separate clinic but sharing positive attributes) also underscores immediate attention and "amazing job" for urgent needs.
The defining features of Westbrook Veterinary Hospital, as emphatically highlighted by their clients, center on their rapid, compassionate, and highly professional response, particularly during crises. These key features include:
- Exceptional Emergency Response: The ability to "jump to action" and provide immediate, effective care during a critical emergency like a broken femur sets them apart. This rapid response and coordination with other facilities (securing an ER) are crucial for positive outcomes in urgent situations.
- Profound Compassion and Kindness: Both "Doctor Molly and co" and staff member Anj are praised for their "love" and "kindness" shown to the injured pet (Kaia) and the distressed owner. This empathetic approach during highly emotional times is a cornerstone of their service.
- Professionalism and Expertise: The staff is described as "knowing what they are talking about," indicating a high level of veterinary knowledge and skill in diagnosis and immediate treatment. Their ability to manage complex cases like Kaia's severe injury speaks to their professional competence.
- Respectful Treatment: The hospital treats both the pet and the owner "with the utmost respect," fostering a trusting and supportive environment. This respect extends to acknowledging the owner's distress and assisting them through difficult decisions.
- Animal-Centric Care: The most telling sign of their quality is Kaia's continued "adoration" for the vet, despite her traumatic experience. This demonstrates that animals are treated in a way that minimizes fear and builds positive associations, a rare and invaluable quality in a veterinary setting.
- Dedicated and Proactive Staff: The individual actions of staff member Anj, who "carried a limp and bloody 65 pound Kaia into the clinic on her own," exemplify the extraordinary dedication and proactive nature of the team.

Jun 27, 2023 · Chelsea BrownOur vet was closed and our dog had a bleeding quick. Lichtenberg Vet took us right in and took care of our dog's paw immediately, and did an amazing job. Great people who will take great care of your pet!!!
Dec 01, 2021 · Max DiltheyDr Russo is wonderful with animals and their humans. It's also important to me that she clearly values her staff and treats them well. They stick around. The positive work environment shows in every interaction I've ever had, and I've had to be a frequent customer for some not so fun stuff. Highly recommend.
