After moving to New Haven, I had wanted to adopt a cat. I’ve tried several shelters/animal control facilitators, but they gave me a hard time because I just moved here not long ago. I was recommended to come here and I finally adopted a very cute, sweet, snuggly boy from West Haven animal clinic. All of the staffs are so friendly and willing to help. The vet gave him free shot. And the adoption fee was only 50 dollars. I’m grateful for all the workers and I highly recommend adopting feline friends from this place.

West Haven Animal Clinic Introduce
Welcome to West Haven Animal Clinic, your local Pet Hospital located at 959 Campbell Ave, West Haven, CT 06516. We are dedicated to serving the pet care needs of the West Haven community. You can reach us at (203) 934-3528 or our mobile number +1 203-934-3528.
Based on the information available online, West Haven Animal Clinic appears to function both as a veterinary care provider and a facilitator for pet adoptions. Customer reviews offer mixed perspectives, with one highlighting a positive adoption experience characterized by friendly staff, a free initial shot for the adopted cat, and a reasonable adoption fee. This review suggests that the clinic plays a role in connecting animals with loving homes.
However, another review presents a significantly negative experience, citing issues such as receiving the wrong animal after adoption, alleged overcharging, incorrect directions, and concerns about the care provided to a pet held overnight. It's important for potential clients to consider these differing experiences when evaluating West Haven Animal Clinic.
Given the limited and contrasting information, a comprehensive understanding of their environment, full range of services, features, and any ongoing promotions requires a synthesis of these accounts and general knowledge about what a Pet Hospital typically offers.
Our Environment: A Hub for Care and Adoption
As a Pet Hospital that also facilitates adoptions, the environment at West Haven Animal Clinic likely encompasses areas for medical examinations and potentially housing for animals awaiting adoption. This might include:
- Examination rooms for routine check-ups, vaccinations, and medical consultations.
- Potentially, housing or kennel areas for animals that are either recovering from procedures or are available for adoption.
- A reception area for clients and visitors.
- Basic medical equipment necessary for a general practice.
The positive adoption review suggests a welcoming atmosphere from the staff involved in the adoption process. Conversely, the negative review raises concerns about the overnight care environment.
Our Services: Veterinary Care and Pet Adoptions
Combining the platform category of "Pet Hospital" with the services implied in the customer reviews, West Haven Animal Clinic likely offers the following:
- Adoption Services: Facilitating the adoption of animals, potentially including cats and possibly other pets. This may involve an adoption fee and a process to ensure suitable homes for the animals.
- Vaccinations: Providing necessary shots for adopted animals, as mentioned in one review, and likely offering vaccinations as part of general veterinary care.
- General Veterinary Care: While not explicitly detailed, as a Pet Hospital, they would typically offer services such as wellness exams, treatment for illnesses, and potentially basic surgical procedures like spaying and neutering (although the negative review mentions a neutering service with associated issues).
- Potentially, Overnight Boarding/Care: As indicated by the negative review where a cat was kept overnight, although the quality of this care is disputed in that account.
The scope and quality of these services appear to have led to differing customer experiences.
Our Features: Community Involvement Through Adoption
Based on the available information, a notable feature of West Haven Animal Clinic seems to be its involvement in pet adoptions, potentially making it a point of contact for local residents looking to adopt a pet. The positive review highlights the friendly and helpful staff in this aspect. Other potential features of a Pet Hospital like this could include:
- Local community service through animal adoptions.
- A team of staff willing to assist with the adoption process.
- Provision of initial medical care (like a free shot) for adopted animals.
However, the negative review points to potential issues with accuracy (wrong pet), pricing, and aftercare, which would be areas for potential clients to consider.
Promotional Information: Connecting Pets with Homes
The positive review mentions a $50 adoption fee and a free initial vaccination for an adopted cat, which could be considered a form of promotional offering for pet adoptions. It suggests that West Haven Animal Clinic aims to make pet adoption more accessible. However, there is no other promotional information available regarding general veterinary services.
For local users interested in pet adoption, West Haven Animal Clinic might be a place to connect with available animals. The adoption fee mentioned in the positive review is a specific piece of information to consider. For those seeking general veterinary care, it would be advisable to inquire directly about the range of services, pricing, and the clinic's approach to patient care, keeping in mind the contrasting customer experiences.
In conclusion, West Haven Animal Clinic in West Haven, CT, functions as a Pet Hospital that also offers pet adoptions. One customer reported a positive adoption experience with friendly staff and an affordable fee, while another described significant negative issues with a different service. This suggests that experiences may vary. For local users, West Haven Animal Clinic presents an option for both veterinary services and pet adoption. If you are considering adopting a pet, the positive review indicates a potentially smooth process. If you require general veterinary care, it would be prudent to seek further information directly from the clinic about their services and approach to ensure it aligns with your expectations.

Mar 05, 2025 · Yiu-Hsin ChangAbsolutely horrible. I have a boy cat and they gave us a girl cat! They charged us too much. He got fixed. Gave us wrong directions. Had him at the shelter overnight didn’t even feed him! He was starving when he came home!!! The first pic is the cat we got and the second is my cat!! Not even the same! Do better!
Mar 29, 2025 · Hollie RubinoDr. Padilla is amazing and he does all he can to help the animals. No matter how busy they are they always make time to squeeze and emergency In a pinch. I've been doing animal rescue for a long time and it wouldn't be possible without this Clinic.
Apr 23, 2025 · Tristan K.Dr. Padilla and ALL the staff are AMAZING!! 5 stars is NOT enough to rate them. They deserve unlimited stars!! Dr. Padilla is definitely in the field for the animals. He truly cares for the animals. He saw our animal when no other vet would. He took his time with us. He listened to what we thought and researched and he was willing to try what we said. When the time came and we had to do what was best for Phillip, we had made the decision, I called the office and we were in the office with in an hour which was close to the office closing time and they told us to take the time we needed to say goodbye, they did not rush us out because it was closing time on Friday. Thank you very much, Dr. Padilla and staff for the care you gave to Phillip, we are very thankful. We can't thank you enough for everything.
