Worst place to ever take your pet. The way they run things and scam people out of their money and do things that are questionable and concerning. I took my cat here because of swelling to the head and eye, they tell me how much the cost is to check him. Which I'm fine with. Then when it comes to the diagnosis and what is going on. The Doctor gives a amount around $200 and then mentions other things to help him which I'm ok with which changes the price and it goes up tremendously and even more add ons that were not mentioned or agreed upon which they then tried to hold my cat and not give him back unless full payment. Which we paid half before he went into surgery and they said the other half would be paid after which was a lie scanning us out of more money. (Mind you when all this is going on a price is set and that was going to be the price and we asked twice to make sure before the payment was made.) well to go on more of diagnosis she speaks on how he has one tooth that is bad and that seems to be the only one cause the other ones aren't there in the back. So I agree to one tooth being pulled because he has issues with his mouth he's a old cat. Well they take him for surgery.. When it's times to get him they charges is way more then agreed upon and pulled two teeth instead of one which I did not agree upon. To make it even worse for my cat he had trouble eating they didn't give a cone and the way the tubes were placed in were not correct. Then the fact they kept contacting my fiance instead of myself was odd because my number was the main contact for my cat and then they called my job which I never gave them my work number.. Didn't understand how they even got it. Asking questions about a card used for payment that they needed to verify a month later. This vet needs to be inspected and looked into on what they do. I'm sure majority of things that are done are not by the Texas law or penal codes or the TBVME. I advise that no one takes there pet here and if so good luck.

Welcome to Wells Branch Pet & Bird Clinic

This introduction addresses Wells Branch Pet & Bird Clinic, located at 12202 N Mopac Expy, Austin, TX 78758, USA. Operating under the platform category of "Pet Hospital," this clinic indicates it provides veterinary care services and potentially related goods for sale, extending its care to both pets and birds. To provide local users with a detailed and objective understanding, we will analyze the available customer reviews to ascertain insights into the clinic's environment, services, features, and any implicitly suggested information.

The provided reviews present a concerning perspective on the practices at Wells Branch Pet & Bird Clinic. One customer recounts a negative experience involving their cat with a swollen head and eye. According to this review, there were discrepancies between the initially quoted price for diagnosis and the subsequent charges, particularly concerning additional treatments and procedures that were allegedly not agreed upon. This customer claims that the clinic attempted to withhold their cat until full payment was made, even though half was paid prior to surgery. The review further alleges that the final charges were significantly higher than the agreed-upon price, with two teeth being extracted instead of the one authorized. Concerns were also raised about post-operative care, including the lack of a cone for the cat and the incorrect placement of tubes, leading to eating difficulties. Additionally, this customer found it odd that the clinic contacted their fiancé and their workplace despite the reviewer's number being the primary contact. The reviewer strongly advises against taking pets to this clinic and suggests that the clinic's practices may violate Texas law and veterinary regulations.

Another review details an issue with price discrepancies compared to the clinic's south location for the same service (a dog dental cleaning). This customer, who had been going to the clinic for 4-5 years, was quoted $300 at the south location but charged $375 at Wells Branch. The reviewer states that the vet at the Wells Branch location disputed the lower quote. Upon calling the south location and confirming the $300 price, the Wells Branch vet reportedly refused to match it, and was indifferent when informed that the customer would not be returning. This was described as "the worst service I have ever received," with the reviewer feeling that the clinic's priority was solely to take their money. An update to this review mentions that the vet personally called to apologize and refunded the difference; however, the reviewer still indicated they were unlikely to return.

Based on these reviews, it is challenging to positively describe the environment, services, or features of Wells Branch Pet & Bird Clinic. The recurring themes in the feedback point to potential issues with transparency in pricing, communication, and the provision of agreed-upon services. The first review raises serious allegations about billing practices, unauthorized procedures, and questionable post-operative care. The second review highlights inconsistencies in pricing between different locations of what is implied to be the same veterinary group and a reluctance to honor a lower quote for the same service.

Given the nature of the feedback, it is difficult to identify positive features that would typically attract local users to a "Pet Hospital." The experiences shared suggest potential problems with:

  • Pricing Transparency: Discrepancies between quoted and final charges, unexpected add-ons.
  • Communication: Allegations of not adhering to agreed-upon procedures and contacting unintended parties.
  • Service Quality: Concerns raised about post-operative care and unauthorized procedures.
  • Price Consistency: Differences in pricing for the same services at different locations under the same apparent ownership.

Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews do not offer any positive aspects that could be used for promotion. Instead, they serve as cautionary tales for potential customers. While the update to the second review indicates a partial resolution (a refund and apology), the customer's continued reluctance to return suggests that the initial negative experience left a lasting impression.

As an objective introduction based solely on the provided information, it is necessary to highlight the concerns raised by these customers. Local users considering Wells Branch Pet & Bird Clinic for their pet or bird veterinary needs should be aware of these experiences. The reviews suggest potential issues with billing practices, communication, and consistency in service and pricing.

It is important to note that these reviews represent individual experiences and may not be representative of all interactions with the clinic. However, they are the only direct feedback available in the provided data to assess the "Pet Hospital." Without additional information or positive testimonials, it is challenging to offer a balanced perspective.

For local users in Austin, TX, considering Wells Branch Pet & Bird Clinic, it would be prudent to seek further information, perhaps by contacting the clinic directly to discuss their services and pricing policies, or by looking for more recent and diverse reviews from other pet owners and bird owners in the community. This vet will steal your money. They make up their own pricing different from their south location, and refuse to match what their other location is offering for the exact same service! Honestly, what kind of business practice is that. I’ve been going here for 4-5 years. I took my dog in for a dental cleaning, and was quoted $300 from the south location. But I got charged $375 at this location. When I talked to the vet, she insisted the lower price was incorrect and no one would have quoted that. I called the other office, put them on speaker, and asked for the quote of dog dental cleaning. And guess what they said… $300!!! She refused to match the price, and when I told her we would not be returning, she said okay that’s fine. Honestly, the worst service I have ever received. I’d also like to clarify that I was as polite as I could be throughout this whole interaction. I refuse to support any kind of establishment that’s first priority is to take my money. Update: Vet called me personally to apologize and refund me the difference. Still don’t think I’m going back, but at least we’re square.

ABSOLUTELY UNETHICAL AND MONEY-HUNGRY AVOID THIS CLINIC AT ALL COST!!!!!! I took my cat to Wells Branch Pet & Bird Clinic because he had an abscess in his mouth. After completing a round of antibiotics, his swelling and odor completely disappeared, and I brought him in for a routine dental cleaning and possible extractions—which was the primary service he needed. Instead of focusing on this, the clinic immediately began fear-mongering, trying to push expensive and unnecessary tests on me. They suddenly claimed that my cat, who has been otherwise healthy, might have feline leukemia or cancer—without any evidence. Mind you, they had previously told me they couldn’t even do a proper exam on the first visit unless he was sedated, yet somehow, before his scheduled procedure, they miraculously "discovered" all these potential issues. Then came the ridiculous upsell tactics. They insisted I pay $500 for a biopsy and additional tests before proceeding with the much-needed dental cleaning. When I refused (because my cat shows NO symptoms of leukemia, cancer, or any other illness), the vet refused to perform the cleaning altogether—the one procedure he actually needed! That alone proves they care more about money than the well-being of their patients. Their entire approach felt like a scam, using fear to manipulate pet owners into paying for unnecessary, expensive procedures. It became even more obvious when, as we were leaving, the vet conveniently backtracked and said, "If it isn’t gone in 10 days, I’ll do just the cleaning." So, suddenly, the cleaning is an option after all? Why was it withheld unless I paid for extra tests in the first place? This place is unethical, dishonest, and prioritizes profit over pet care. If you love your animal and want transparent, ethical treatment, DO NOT take your pet here. There are much better and more affordable clinics in Austin that will actually prioritize your pet’s health instead of trying to rob you blind.

The drive for me and dog (prince) is far! But it is worth the drive! Dr. Wadhwani is amazing and extremely professional! My pup was extremely ill and she brought him back to life. Senior dog prince was slow and now he is like a newborn puppy 🐶 running around and galloping and doing Zumiez’s and snoodling and has a great appetite! I appreciate her 100 %! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Please do not waste your time bringing your pet here. It was like pulling teeth just to get medical records sent over to me only for them to still not send them in totality which resulted in me having to reschedule my dogs follow up with his primary vet more than 3 times. This is truly a "you get what you pay for" experience. I will not be returning here for any services. The Dr communicates in a very condescending way, and I do not see how this clinic has made overhead all these years. To add on to my bad experience, I was told my dog suffered broken bones in his pelvis, but I was never shown an x-ray...NEVER shown an x-ray...she only talked to me in the lobby. What Dr does that?
