Vinton-Urbana Veterinary Hospital Introduce
Welcome to Vinton-Urbana Veterinary Hospital, a "Pet Hospital" located at 5574 24th Ave Dr, Vinton, IA 52349, USA. This clinic serves the Vinton and Urbana communities, providing essential veterinary services for local pets. The hospital is known for its commitment to animal well-being, with a team dedicated to ensuring the health and care of every patient, even in challenging circumstances.
The environment at Vinton-Urbana Veterinary Hospital, while not extensively detailed in the provided reviews, can be inferred from the customer experiences. The fact that the clinic was "willing to work me in that day" despite a client being "several hours late" suggests a flexible and accommodating approach, which contributes to a more client-friendly atmosphere. The presence of "assistants all good and very caring" indicates a supportive and empathetic staff who contribute positively to the overall environment, making pets and their owners feel more at ease during their visits. While one review mentions a desire for more veterinarians, the positive remarks about the existing staff highlight a focused and dedicated team within the current operational setup. The core of the environment appears to be one where animal care is prioritized, even if it means navigating busy schedules.
Vinton-Urbana Veterinary Hospital offers a range of services essential for comprehensive pet care. The reviews specifically highlight their capacity to handle emergency situations and surgical needs. Key services include:
- Emergency Foot Surgery: As evidenced by the critical case of a dog requiring emergency foot surgery, the hospital is equipped and capable of performing urgent surgical interventions to save a pet's life. This indicates their proficiency in critical care and advanced medical procedures.
- General Veterinary Care: While not explicitly listed, the context of a "pet hospital" implies offering routine services such as health check-ups, vaccinations, parasite control, and general diagnostics to maintain overall pet health.
- Diagnostic Services: The ability to perform complex surgeries suggests the availability of necessary diagnostic tools to assess conditions accurately, potentially including X-rays and basic laboratory tests.
The focus on direct treatment and emergency response indicates a practice that prioritizes immediate and necessary medical interventions. However, the comments also point out the importance of considering the availability of multiple veterinarians, especially for emergency situations, which may influence the range and speed of service delivery.
The most prominent features of Vinton-Urbana Veterinary Hospital revolve around the skills of Dr. Alice and the compassion of the veterinary assistants. Dr. Alice is consistently praised for being "GOOD with animals" and knowing "what she is doing and is good." This highlights her technical expertise and her ability to provide effective medical care for pets. The review explicitly states that she "saved her life," underscoring her proficiency in critical situations. Furthermore, the "Alice assistants all good and very caring" indicates a supportive and empathetic team that complements the veterinarians' work, providing a nurturing touch during often stressful times for pets and their owners. This dedication from the support staff contributes significantly to the overall positive experience for the animal patients. The hospital's willingness to accommodate a late appointment also speaks to a degree of flexibility and client-focused service, aiming to ensure pets receive care even with scheduling challenges. However, it is also noted that the "bedside manner to human patients sucks" for Dr. Alice, indicating a potential area where communication with pet owners could be improved. The lack of other vets for emergencies is also a feature highlighted by a reviewer as a concern, suggesting that clients should be aware that the practice primarily operates with a single veterinarian for immediate care.
Regarding promotional information, the provided reviews offer both strong endorsements and areas of concern that act as a form of candid feedback for potential clients. The positive accounts of Dr. Alice's skill in saving a pet's life and the caring nature of her assistants serve as compelling testimonials of the quality of animal care. The willingness to accommodate a late appointment showcases a client-friendly aspect. However, the feedback also includes critical notes about communication with human clients and the sole veterinarian on staff, which are important considerations for new pet owners. While direct promotional offers are not detailed, the clinic's core "promotion" comes from its ability to provide life-saving care and the dedication of its animal-focused team. The phone numbers, (319) 472-3300 and +1 319-472-3300, are the direct means for local users to contact the hospital for appointments or inquiries. For those prioritizing a veterinarian who is highly skilled with animals and has a caring support staff, Vinton-Urbana Veterinary Hospital remains a viable option, with the understanding of the specific operational context highlighted in the reviews. The "VERY Expensive" comment is also a piece of promotional information, albeit a negative one, which potential clients would consider in their decision-making.

Dec 22, 2024 · Paulie MurrLast year my dog had an emergency foot surgery..Alice saved her life..she does know what she is doing and is good..but her bedside manor to human patients sucks. After the surgery she stated because of the emergency she lost a patient for services. I was made to feel like a bad parent. A vet should never say those things to the human patient. There is only Alice there when there used to be 2 vets. So I don't advise going to her because of no other vet. I switched vets and will be going to take both my dogs to a new to me in Traer/Keystone with 4 vets. Alice GOOD with animals Alice NOT GOOD with the pet parent and lack of vets. Which I know there is a shortage. Alice assistants all good and very caring. NO Other Vets for Emergency VERY Expensive
Jul 02, 2024 · Angie KlinzingMy husband and I take our two cats and one dog to this clinic not only because it's convenient because it's close to where we live but because the staff is friendly and very helpful and they give us choices and how we want to help care for our pets.

Apr 17, 2025 · Brad JacobsUpdate: we're up to nearly 14 years now and still love Dr. Timmerman and her team. Dr. Timmerman and her team have taken care of our animals for almost 10 years (or as long as they've been open). They've taken great care of our cats and dogs even when we lost one of our cats to age.
