Had an appointment for my fur baby Juno. Dr. Virginia and the entire staff was wonderful in caring for my fur baby. She was very helpful, supportive and knowledgeable in what will take place and what we should do after his visit. This will be my “go to” for my pup 🐶 in the future. Thank you everyone and their love, patience and care for our loved ones. Awesome place.

Everyone here truly cares about your pet. From the moment we walked in, our kittens were welcomed like they were our actual human children. The next day, they called to check on our babies. It was a great experience. I do understand why reviewers say they take the long drive from their home just to come to this vet. They also keep it super clean. We loved it. We'll definitely be returning

I guess I've gotten used to really impersonal experiences at vet offices in this area. I thought it was so thoughtful that they called the day after my appointment to ask how my pet was doing. They were really patient with him during the appointment, even though he gets pretty feisty when he's nervous. They gave us a 15-minute grace period around the appointment time, got us back pretty quickly, and got us out in a reasonable amount of time. Not only was the exam fee only $51.00, but bringing a second pet would only be an additional $49.00 (this does not include tests or vaccinations). I have called around quite a lot and other vets in this area do not offer a multi-pet discount. In addition to taking great care of my own pet, in the lobby I was able to witness multiple positive interactions with pets of all different shapes and sizes. I deduced that my experience was not just a vet trying to create a good first impression, but the norm for an office of people who truly care about their patients.

This month I noticed an odd large scab that was extremely swollen on my guinea pigs back leg. I know many places do not take guinea pigs, but this place was one that did, so I scheduled an appointment. When I got there they didn’t have any of my information saved even though I had filled out the forms online. I then proceeded to tell them my guinea pig doesn’t know how to drink from a bowl, and they said “oh well we will have to figure something out”. To me that shows they didn’t have the necessary equipment to even keep animals that don’t drink from a bowl hydrated. They also were extremely hard to get in touch with during this process. When My guinea pig was picked up, I was told “we don’t know what it is that’s wrong with him, but here’s some medications”. They provided me with 3 anti fungal medications. After a few days of my animal being on this medicine, the sore ruptured and we were able to get some of the contents out, but it was bleeding terrible and clearly very painful and swollen so we left it alone. I continued the medicines, thinking it was maybe just a cyst. A few days later I made another appointment, because I was afraid of infection and I wanted the doctor to figure out what was wrong with him. I received a call the Monday before the future appointment on that Tuesday, that it needed to be “rescheduled due to the doctor that was there”, then Tuesday morning, the day before that Wednesday appointment I received a text stating that Vetxpress doesn’t take his kind of animals anymore, and they were referring me to a vet hospital in Richmond, that had no available appointments for 2 weeks. There is no way I could wait 2 weeks to get him in, with a hole in his leg and high risk of infection. I then found another vet that would take him, and they told me that he has what looks like a cancerous mass, and it must be surgically removed this Friday. The now new vet that I am using did not understand why Vetxpress didn’t peel back the scab or try to do anything further to really get down to what he had. In my opinion I don’t think you should take animals that you aren’t prepared for either, as I stated that they didn’t have a water source for him. So not only did Vetxpress not have the knowledge to diagnose or take care of my guinea pig, they also canceled an extremely important appointment and left me with no veterinarian, but they also could’ve been the reason cancer took over my little guys life. I will update after the surgery on Friday.
