(This review is based on a short phone conversation. It is not a review of veterinary services.) I spoke to Dr. Kraus on the phone while looking for someone to provide at-home euthanasia for my cat. Unfortunately, I was confused and put off by her tone, which I found to be unfriendly to the point of feeling rude. I understand that she may have been busy or have a different communication style, but considering the nature of the situation I was surprised by the lack of delicacy or compassion in the way she spoke to me. Based on this call I wasn't comfortable with having Dr. Kraus be the one to come into my home and euthanize my pet. My family who overheard the call felt similarly as well. If you are looking for someone who will offer warmth and patience during the process of saying goodbye to your pet, Dr. Kraus may not be the best option for you. I recommend speaking to her on the phone first, and judging for yourself.

Welcome to the local introduction of Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service, a unique pet hospital operating directly at your doorstep, located at 8543 County Rd 7 SE, Chatfield, MN 55923, USA. Functioning under the platform category of a Pet Hospital, Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service offers the convenience of veterinary care in the comfort of your own home. You can reach them by phone at (507) 254-1067 or via mobile at +1 507-254-1067 to discuss how their mobile services can benefit your pet.
Based on the limited feedback available from real customers, experiences with Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service appear to vary, particularly concerning communication style during sensitive times. One review, based solely on a phone conversation, described the tone of Dr. Kraus as "unfriendly to the point of feeling rude," and noted a perceived "lack of delicacy or compassion" when inquiring about at-home euthanasia for a cat. This individual ultimately decided against using the service based on this initial interaction and recommended speaking with Dr. Kraus directly to form one's own judgment regarding her communication style, especially when seeking warmth and patience during end-of-life care.
In contrast, another customer who utilized Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service for at-home euthanasia of their "old heeler boy" had a positive experience. They described the service as "Experienced, no nonsense approach, with all the compassion needed" and expressed their appreciation for having this option available. This review highlights the value of having a mobile veterinarian for end-of-life care, allowing pets to pass away peacefully in their familiar home environment.
As a mobile Pet Hospital, Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service likely offers a range of services that can be administered in a home setting. These may include:
- Wellness Exams: Routine check-ups performed in the comfort of your pet's home, potentially reducing stress for the animal.
- Vaccinations: Administered at home, which can be more convenient and less anxiety-inducing for some pets.
- Minor Medical Issues: Addressing certain illnesses or injuries that do not require hospitalization.
- Euthanasia Services: Providing a peaceful and private way for pets to pass away at home, as highlighted in the reviews.
- Other Potential Services: Depending on the capabilities of the mobile unit, this could include blood draws, microchipping, and more.
The primary feature of Vetmobile Housecall Veterinary Service is its mobility, bringing veterinary care directly to your home. This can be particularly beneficial for pets who are stressed by travel, for owners with multiple pets, or for those who have difficulty transporting their animals. The availability of at-home euthanasia is another significant feature, allowing for a more intimate and comfortable experience during a difficult time.
The environment, in this case, is your own home, which can be a significant advantage for the pet's comfort and the owner's convenience. The focus shifts from a traditional clinic setting to providing care in a familiar and less stressful environment for the animal.
Given the limited and somewhat contrasting feedback, it is difficult to ascertain a definitive overall impression of the service beyond the convenience of house calls. The difference in experiences, particularly regarding communication during a sensitive procedure like euthanasia, suggests that individual interactions and needs may play a significant role in one's perception of the service.

Jan 08, 2025 · Simon MarksCame for a euthanasia, was very glad to have this vet for our old heeler boy. Experienced, no nonsense approach, with all the compassion needed. So appreciated having her available.
Nov 14, 2024 · Shana PascoeMaking veterinary care easier... No need to worry about carriers and struggling to take your pets to the vet when the vet comes to your house. We have multiple pets at any given time. Currently our lot includes 5 cats and a dog. We like the ease of getting an appointment when we need one. There are no protests, and no panic from our pets (although we generally corral them into a small room before the vet arrives). Dr Kraus has taken care of our pets for >15 years and done well by all of them. She is willing to research and willing to refer for anything out of her capacity. Dr Kraus works with specialists in many areas as needed. We have been very happy with her no-nonsense approach and her genuine care for our furry kids. Please note: You will have to hold your pet during exams and vaccinations, so if you're not comfortable holding them still, a home visit may not be a good option for you. Keep in mind a home visit is a great choice when euthanasia is needed. Your pet can be put to sleep in the comfort of home rather than traumatized by a trip to the vet.
Jul 24, 2023 · Lynn FlickingerWhere to start. We recently lost our lab with cerebellar hypoplasia. Trips to vet offices were hard, as the excitement really sent her issues into overdrive. So a home visit vet was perfect. She developed seizures later, and then heart failure. Dr Kraus was very supportive all the way, and worked well with the specialists and with the only other vet in town that really had an interest in learning how to deal with her health issues. Learned later that lots of people put their dogs with these issues to sleep at a young age, so Dr Kraus was one of a few who read and got back on "here's where we are." Very blunt, no-nonsense manner. I kinda need that sometimes. She took great care of 5 of our dogs over the last 11 years.
Feb 05, 2020 · David CloptonReached out for help withy cat, giving fluids. Usually done by my hubby and I but he was hospitalized. The vet made sure to tell me on the phone during the consult and while in my home that she had "little old ladies" who can do this with no help. Not helpful, condescending and will not use again or recommend to anyone.
