Our little baby girl beans (kitty) was in distress this evening and we felt she needed immediate attention. We booked the appointment online for the soonest available which originally was about two hours out. Thankfully they called us and told us to bring her in as soon as we could. We loaded her up and took the drive. When we got there we were immediately taken into a room and asked the triage questions. Once they were done with questions, they took her right to the back. The whole time I could hear the staff doting on her, telling her how pretty and sweet she was, which honestly made me feel so much better just knowing she was being treated with love. The doctor (Dr. Proulx) came and talked to us pretty shortly after and walked us through everything (what the case was, what the status was, what she needed and what was optional). She was incredibly kind and non judgmental. She walked us through the costs of things (which were actually reasonable for a vet urgent care). I can’t stress enough how just amazingly nice and judgement free she was, that genuinely made so much of the difference. She explained everything thoroughly and made us feel secure. We left there with our baby feeling so much better wearing a tiny little cone for her tiny little head. Everyone from the staff in the front to the provider was just so nice and friendly. I absolutely recommend EP vet urgent care to anyone who needs their babies seen in a pinch. The booking is easy, they state the flat fee plainly in your confirmation text and it’s just genuinely reasonable for the services and customer service they provide. I can’t thank them enough for helping my girl and making it possible for us to help her without being raked over the coals or feeling judged.

Welcome to Veterinary Urgent Care Center - East Providence

The Veterinary Urgent Care Center (VUCC) in East Providence, located at 73 Highland Ave, East Providence, RI 02914, serves as a vital component within the "Pet Hospital" category. It addresses the critical need for immediate, non-life-threatening veterinary attention, effectively bridging the gap between routine veterinary visits and full-blown 24/7 emergency hospitals. This center offers timely and accessible care when a pet's primary vet is unavailable or for conditions that require prompt attention but aren't critical emergencies. You can contact them at (401) 354-1099 or +1 401-354-1099.

Environment and Accessibility

The environment at Veterinary Urgent Care Center - East Providence is consistently described by clients as welcoming and comfortable, clearly designed to alleviate the stress often associated with urgent vet visits for both pets and their owners. Reviews highlight the swiftness of service upon arrival; for example, one reviewer noted being "immediately taken into a room and asked the triage questions" and their pet being taken "right to the back." This efficient intake process is crucial in urgent care settings, ensuring pets receive attention quickly. The facility maintains a professional yet compassionate atmosphere, as evidenced by staff "doting" on pets and treating them with "love." This focus on a positive experience during a potentially anxious time speaks volumes about their commitment to patient and client well-being.

The center also utilizes modern, paperless practices, with all medical records available online through a client-accessible pet portal, updated in real time. This digital approach streamlines communication and record-keeping, enhancing convenience for pet owners. The presence of ample parking and an easily accessible location at 73 Highland Ave further contributes to the overall accessibility of the facility, which is especially important during stressful urgent situations. They encourage pet owners to book online, which provides an estimated wait time and allows for smoother check-in, although walk-ins are also accepted, dependent on availability and staff discretion.

Comprehensive Urgent Care Services

The Veterinary Urgent Care Center - East Providence specializes in addressing a broad spectrum of non-emergent illnesses and injuries, providing essential medical attention when a pet cannot wait for a regular vet appointment. Their services are designed to stabilize and treat acute conditions, and they are equipped to handle a variety of urgent needs. Typical services include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Illnesses: This covers common issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, sneezing, lethargy, loss of appetite, urinary health problems (like UTIs), and fever. They perform diagnostics to determine the cause and initiate appropriate treatment.

  • Minor Injuries and Wounds: This includes assessing and treating bite or fight wounds, minor cuts, limping, and other non-life-threatening physical injuries.

  • Skin and Ear Problems: Conditions like skin allergies, hot spots, ear infections, and other dermatological issues are frequently seen and treated.

  • Eye Issues: They can address concerns such as eye squinting, discharge, and other non-traumatic eye problems.

  • Parasite Concerns: Assessment and initial treatment for fleas, ticks, and other parasitic issues.

  • Pain Management: Addressing acute pain and discomfort to make pets more comfortable.

  • On-Site Diagnostic Lab: The center has in-house diagnostic capabilities, allowing for rapid results from blood work, urinalysis, and other tests, which is crucial for quick diagnoses in urgent situations.

  • Digital Radiology: X-ray capabilities help in diagnosing conditions like fractures, foreign body ingestion, or internal organ issues.

  • Medication Dispensing: Prescriptions and necessary medications are dispensed on-site, allowing pet owners to begin treatment immediately.

  • Stabilization and Referral: For cases that are beyond the scope of urgent care and require critical or overnight hospitalization, the center can stabilize the pet and facilitate a smooth referral to a 24/7 emergency veterinary hospital, working in collaboration with other local facilities.

  • Limited Wellness Services: While primarily urgent care, they may also offer basic preventive services like vaccines, which can be convenient for pet owners needing a quick vaccination without a full wellness visit.

It's important to note that while they offer a wide range of services, they are not a 24/7 emergency critical care facility. Their focus is on conditions that need prompt attention but are not immediately life-threatening, making them an excellent alternative to overwhelmed emergency rooms for many common urgent issues.

Key Features and Promotional Information

The Veterinary Urgent Care Center - East Providence is characterized by several key features that enhance its value to the local pet-owning community:

  • Convenient Hours: They operate seven days a week, including evenings on weekdays (Monday-Friday: 9am-10pm) and weekend hours (Saturday-Sunday: 11am-6pm). These extended hours are specifically designed to be available when primary veterinarians might be closed, offering a timely solution without the higher costs and longer waits often associated with emergency hospitals.

  • Efficient Online Booking System: Pet owners can easily book appointments online, receiving a confirmation text that plainly states the flat fee. This system helps manage patient flow and provides transparency regarding costs. While online bookings provide an estimated time, they are not guaranteed appointments, as walk-ins are also accommodated.

  • Transparent and Reasonable Pricing: Reviews consistently praise the clinic for its reasonable costs, especially for an urgent care setting, and the upfront explanation of fees. One reviewer specifically mentioned that costs "were actually reasonable for a vet urgent care" and that they explained "everything thoroughly and made us feel secure," without feeling "raked over the coals or judged."

  • Highly Professional and Compassionate Staff: The repeated emphasis in reviews on "incredibly kind," "non-judgmental," "amazingly nice and judgment free," "friendly," "caring," "patient," and "informative" staff, including specific mentions of Dr. Proulx, Dr. Wright, and technician Allie M., highlights a core strength. This level of empathetic customer service is crucial in urgent care situations where pet owners are often stressed and worried.

  • Focus on Communication: The staff's commitment to explaining "everything thoroughly" and making clients "feel secure" is a significant feature. The promise of follow-up calls (e.g., "She also stated that she will be calling me in a few days to check on Valentina") further reinforces their dedication to patient well-being beyond the initial visit.

  • Seamless Client Experience: From easy online booking and immediate greetings to thorough explanations and non-judgmental care, the overall client journey is designed to be as smooth and supportive as possible during a stressful time.

  • Filling a Critical Gap: The center explicitly positions itself as an alternative for pet owners who cannot get in to see their primary care veterinarian or who wish to avoid the long lines and higher costs of a 24/7 emergency medical center for non-emergent issues.

Promotional efforts for Veterinary Urgent Care Center - East Providence likely focus on its accessibility, affordability compared to emergency rooms, and the highly compassionate care provided by its dedicated team. Their ability to offer "quality pet care when you need it," with "high quality veterinary services" and "convenient hours," are key selling points for pet owners in the East Providence area who require prompt, professional, and empathetic veterinary attention for their beloved companions.

I made an online appointment for my 13 year-old senior pug who was showing symptoms of a uti {bladder infection}Our appointment was 11am. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by the friendly front staff, and brought right into the exam room. We first met Allie M, she was our technician. She was very friendly and asking many questions, At first, I thought she was the actual veterinarian because she was so knowledgeable about many different things. I was quite impressed. We then met Dr.Wright, She was very kind, patient and informative. She answered all my questions, never making me feel rushed. She diagnosed Valentina and prescribed her the correct meds that will hopefully help her. She also stated that she will be calling me in a few days to check on Valentina. After leaving, I felt such a sense of relief and confident knowing we are (fingers crossed) moving in the right direction. I would highly recommend them. They are very professional, and very caring.

Granted, the first and only time there I had to euthanize my childhood dog of 14 years. They were compassionate, empathetic and patient. When I had to pick him up for the crematorium, they had him in a box with his name and a heart. Later i got A card in the mail with prints and his hair. Thank you for making the most traumatic time of my life as gentle as possible. ❤️ Deen went comfortably and peacefully.

Our regular vet couldn’t see our sick pup so we went here. Although our pup is pretty sick, they were kind, gentle, explained everything, walked us through what we needed to do at home and let us know what to keep an eye on. I couldn’t ask for a better place for my pet. All the people who work there are awesome! Thank you. Will continue to use them for all my pet emergencies.
