My spouse and I had to make a difficult decision regarding one of our cats last night. We called ahead, as this cat has been here before and we loved everyone we interacted with last time, so they were expecting us when we walked in. The initial visit and conversation with the vet was prompt and efficient, but not rushed. We felt listened to, understood, and did not feel pressured. We got to be with him in his final moments and had some private time with him before and after to say goodbye. Prior to this most recent visit, we brought him in a little over two years ago for an emergency surgery (on Christmas Eve… great timing, little guy) and he had to stay in the hospital for a few days. They were very communicative about how he was doing the entire time and we had peace of mind that he was taken care of. Everyone was very kind and compassionate towards us and our kitty, Deja. Thank you for taking care of him. If you bring an animal here, rest assured they will be in good hands.

WARNING: COST AT THIS HOSPITAL ARE FOUR TIMES HIGHER THAN A REGULAR VETERINARY CLINIC. Extremely nice. They took quick questions checking in, I called ahead and filled them in on most things. This is emergency care hospital for small animals. Told me I would get a small discount being a first time patient. But found out that was NOT TRUE!! This emergency hospital costs about 4 times MORE than the average veterinary clinic. So if I had known that, I would have NEVER CAME!! They do offer a 10% discount to military and veterans, which fortunately I am a Veteran. They need to verify seeing your military or VA card. I can't be in the room with my dog which makes me crazy. Every vet I've been to I can always be in the room to calm them. So I don't know what they are doing or want to do. Or how they treat my pet. I'm nervous they might do everything in the book treating me like a blank check. And they had to legally warn you if the animal scratches or bites, police and Texas State Law would be involved. So better be up on your pets Rabies shot. I asked why I couldn't be in the room with the dog, to advise or answer questions and watch. The desk clerk said "patient confidentiality" which I told her was pretty "silly", as they are dogs. She then said it was also a bit cramped back there. I chuckled and told her that was a more realistic answer. But my dog has fatty cysts that can be sensitive or painful to touch if holding her for X-ray or picking her up. I feel I need to be there to warn and remind them. This is a teaching hospital for veterinary care at Texas A&M University. You would think since you are having students care, there would be a discount. They estimated $1,500 for care. They must receive 50% up front, and a bunch of signatures to proceed. This is a 24 hour hospital. Everyone is very nice and professional. But it seems from my doctor they are focused on money and getting as much as they can from you. I opted out of certain things I felt were going too far and unnecessary. I told them my pet will be going home with me tonight. So my cost is now estimated at $1,000. If I had waited and took her tomorrow to local vet, cost (including antibiotics) would be $400. They are NOT offering antibiotics for my dog with a fever, not eating or drinking, lethargic, constipated, vomiting, high blood pressure, and dehydrated. She's going to receive an IV and X-ray. That's all for $850-1,000. And a large panel blood test. Turns out only a infection in her bowels. No antibiotics. Hope she will get better. I'm trusting them to not have to take her to my regular vet in 24 hours.

Being in the medical field myself, I can understand that cases come in, cases go. Please don’t lose your compassion along the way. Becoming desensitized to just “another pet” is the downfall of your career and ruins your reputation, no matter the knowledge you may have acquired. 10 minutes away from euthanasia with my beloved Corgi and I backed out. After the brutal service I received, rushed decision making, cold manners, and never got to fully speak with an Oncologist or CT scan.. This place won’t be his last memories. We both ran out of there with some love along the long drive back home. The next day was such a good day for him and we played all day long with vibrant energy, local vets were so kind , CT scan done, and we set up a plan. Not everyone will take the time needed for a pet, not everyone cares and that’s okay. But if you’re my people that do, take your time and remember the unconditional love your pets give. Give them the same.. Disappointing to say the least but thankful for the receptionist that placed her hand on mine and wished me a great night with him 🙏🏻

I could never thank everyone here enough for taking care of my Hammie (Ham) especially Dr. Megan Watt and her team. He had a very difficult case and we were given a very grim outlook and decided to bring him here for a second opinion. He was taken back immediately and we were informed within an hour of what would need to be done to save him. He stayed for 4 days and I was always informed multiple times a day of his progress. Ham went through his surgery and is now home and is doing fantastic. Again, thank you to everyone who helped get him back home to me! I will always be so grateful for the kindness you not only shown to Ham but myself as well.

I will never be more grateful for the vets at Texas A&Ms small animal hospital. We first visited in March after receiving a referral to their cardiology department for our 8 month old kitten Jim with grade 5 heart murmur and an abnormal heart with suspected PDA, a condition that often leads to heart failure in the first few years of life. Dr. Lim and the cardio department kept us super informed throughout his exams and were able to let us know the full extent of his condition and start him on a new treatment plan. The next month at his follow up, the treatment plan was successful enough that he qualified for heart surgery to repair the PDA. Dr. Pankowski and the soft tissue surgery team kept us well informed during Jim's 2 night stay and throughout his surgery, and helped me feel confident in my decision regarding surgery. Today's Jim's 1st birthday, and his local vet couldn't even find his heart murmur at his follow up visit last week. I'm so incredibly greatful to the team at this hospital that Jim's first birthday won't be his only birthday and that instead he'll have the chance to live for many years and see many more.
