I have a sick goat, I’ve called so many places and no one could see livestock, only cats and dogs. As soon as I called veterinary services of Oregon and left a voicemail they returned my call and gave me a phone consultation. They were so nice and understanding under such difficult circumstances. They even texted me giving me extra instructions on how to administer the meds. I am so grateful for their tender care.

Welcome to Veterinary Services of Oregon

For pet owners and agricultural producers in and around St Paul, Oregon, Veterinary Services of Oregon stands as a truly invaluable resource, offering a distinctive blend of compassionate care for both traditional companion animals and a wide array of livestock. Located at 3884 Mission Rd NE, St Paul, OR 97137, USA, this clinic is not merely a "Pet Hospital" in the conventional sense, but a comprehensive veterinary service that extends its expertise to farm animals, filling a critical need in the region. Their accessibility is clear, with contact available via phone at (503) 633-8387 or mobile at +1 503-633-8387, ensuring that help is often just a call away, even in urgent situations.

Environment and Service Delivery Model

Unlike many traditional "Pet Hospitals" that primarily operate from a fixed clinic, Veterinary Services of Oregon has a notable emphasis on providing mobile veterinary services. This is a crucial aspect of their operational environment, especially given their focus on livestock. While they do maintain a physical location in St. Paul for limited in-clinic services and pharmaceutical sales, a significant portion of their work involves on-farm visits. This "mobile vet" model means that the environment for care is often the animal's natural habitat – a farm, a pasture, or a barn. This approach is highly beneficial for large animals who may be difficult to transport and can reduce stress for both the animal and the owner by allowing treatment in a familiar setting. The clinic is equipped with multiple doctors and "stocked mobile veterinary vehicles," indicating that they bring a well-equipped, professional veterinary setting directly to their patients. This flexibility and dedication to on-site care highlight their commitment to meeting the unique needs of agricultural clients.

Comprehensive Services with a Large Animal Specialization

As a dynamic "Pet Hospital" that caters to a diverse clientele, Veterinary Services of Oregon provides a broad spectrum of services, with a distinct specialization in large animals and livestock. Their offerings include:

  • Livestock and Farm Animal Care: This is a core strength, as evidenced by customer reviews. They readily attend to species like goats, chickens, cattle, sheep, and other farm animals. Services include general health checks, diagnosis and treatment of illnesses, reproductive services (including laparoscopic AI in sheep and AI in cattle and goats, as well as synchronization services), customized vaccination schedules, milk parlor management evaluation and training, and critical care for sick or injured livestock.
  • On-Farm Surgeries: Their doctors are equipped to perform a wide range of on-farm surgeries, such as displaced abomasum repair, C-sections, laceration repair, hernia surgeries, de-horning, rumenotomy, ocular removal, limb amputation, and other routine procedures. This capability is invaluable for managing complex health issues in a farm setting.
  • Companion Pet Care: While specializing in large animals, they are "happy to provide routine care for your companion pets as well." This includes annual vaccinations, rabies vaccinations, flea and tick treatments, worming, and prescription medications for cats and dogs. They also perform feline neuter surgeries.
  • Diagnostic Services: They offer in-house laboratory services for quick results on tests like milk and fecal samples. More complex diagnostics are sent to university laboratories, with results reviewed by their doctors to provide accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Pharmaceutical & Supply Sales: The St. Paul location maintains a large stock of veterinary pharmaceuticals and supplies. They also offer a convenient drop-shipping service for larger farms and dairies, delivering directly to the farm at no additional charge for minimum purchases, further enhancing their service model for commercial operations.
  • 24-hour On-Call Emergency Services: A critical service, one of their doctors is on-call around the clock, seven days a week, providing immediate assistance for urgent cases. This ensures that help is available when it's needed most, a particularly vital service for livestock emergencies.
  • Disposal Services: They work with a local family-owned business for animal disposal, offering a complete solution for end-of-life care or unexpected losses.

Distinguishing Features and Client Experience

What truly sets Veterinary Services of Oregon apart, as highlighted by client testimonials, is their unique combination of specialized expertise and profound empathy:

  • Readiness for Livestock Care: Many veterinary practices limit their services to companion animals. Veterinary Services of Oregon's willingness and capability to see livestock is a significant distinguishing factor, often being the "only place" people can turn to for their farm animals. The review about the sick goat perfectly illustrates this, with the client expressing immense gratitude for their responsiveness when "no one else could see livestock."
  • Compassionate and Understanding Staff: Clients consistently praise the team for being "so nice and understanding under such difficult circumstances." This empathy is crucial when dealing with a sick or injured animal, particularly in emergency situations. The personal touch, such as texting "extra instructions on how to administer the meds," showcases their dedication to ensuring successful outcomes and supporting pet owners through the entire process.
  • Professional Phone Consultations and Advice: The clinic's willingness to provide valuable phone consultations, as seen with the chicken owner needing advice on an "egg bound vs egg yolk peritonitis" issue, demonstrates their commitment to client education and immediate support. This pre-visit guidance can be essential for managing emergencies or deciding on the best course of action.
  • Responsive Emergency Care: Their 24-hour on-call service, with prompt call-backs, underscores their commitment to emergency care for both small and large animals, providing much-needed peace of mind for animal owners.
  • Diverse Expertise: Their ability to competently handle both common pets and a wide range of farm animals means that households with various animal companions can rely on a single, trusted veterinary provider.

Promotional Information and Community Value

For local users in St Paul and the surrounding agricultural communities, Veterinary Services of Oregon offers a highly specialized and essential service. While specific promotional campaigns are not explicitly detailed, their unique market position and client satisfaction are their strongest advertisements. Potential promotional approaches could include:

  • Highlighting Livestock Expertise: Actively promoting their extensive experience and services for goats, chickens, cattle, and other farm animals through agricultural publications, local farming associations, and online platforms targeting farmers.
  • Emergency Service Availability: Emphasizing their 24/7 emergency line, a crucial offering for both companion and farm animal owners.
  • Client Success Stories: Sharing testimonials, particularly those demonstrating their ability to handle challenging or unique cases, builds confidence and trust.
  • Educational Outreach: Offering workshops or informational sessions on livestock health, preventative care for farm animals, or common pet ailments could attract new clients and reinforce their expert status within the community.
  • Farm Visit Convenience: Promoting their mobile veterinary services as a key benefit, especially for large animal owners who face logistical challenges in transporting their animals.

I appreciated the return phone call to ask questions about an egg bound vs egg yolk perontinis chicken, and our options for Emergency care. They were kind, professional and I appreciated the advice they were able to provide over the phone.

The folks at Veterinary Service Oregon are amazing. My goat breeder uses them, so it was a no-brainer to use them for my 3 wethered pet goats. I have only used them for annual exams and vaccines/vitamin injections, but they have been very professional and thorough. Even though I can tell that they are very busy, I don't ever have to worry about getting a call back in a reasonable amount of time. I don't look forward to the day we have an emergency, but I feel comforted knowing that my goats will be in the best of hands! Thanks Dr.Veeman and Dr.Skurdal!
