I heard about this place from my rescue service; apparently it's a very inexpensive place to get shots for your pets. I tried calling and texting but it was impossible to get a human to respond. I went there and tried to ask some questions, but I was treated rather rudely, and decided not to pursue any shots. As always, you get what you pay for.

Welcome to Veterinary Mobile Services

Within the "Pet Hospital" platform category, Veterinary Mobile Services represents a unique and increasingly popular alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar clinics. Instead of owners bringing their pets to a physical hospital, Veterinary Mobile Services brings the veterinary care directly to the pet's home, office, or other designated location. This model prioritizes convenience for pet owners and aims to reduce stress for pets, providing a more personalized and comfortable healthcare experience.

The environment provided by Veterinary Mobile Services is primarily the pet's own familiar surroundings. This is a significant advantage, particularly for animals that experience anxiety or stress when visiting a traditional veterinary clinic. In their home environment, pets are generally more relaxed, which can lead to a more accurate examination and a less traumatic experience overall. The mobile vet unit itself is typically a specially equipped vehicle designed to function as a miniature, fully operational veterinary clinic. While compact, these units are outfitted with the necessary medical equipment for examinations, diagnostics, minor procedures, and even some surgeries. The focus is on creating a calm and efficient workspace within or adjacent to the pet's home, minimizing disruption and maximizing comfort. The veterinarian and veterinary technicians arrive with all the tools needed, from examination tables and lighting to diagnostic equipment like portable ultrasound or digital X-ray machines, depending on the service provider. The emphasis is on a quiet, controlled setting that allows for a thorough and compassionate assessment without the distractions and potential stressors of a bustling clinic waiting room. This allows for a more focused interaction between the vet, the pet, and the owner, fostering a stronger bond and better understanding of the pet's needs.

The services offered by Veterinary Mobile Services are comprehensive, often mirroring many of those available at a stationary clinic, but with the added benefit of home convenience. These typically include:

  • Wellness and Preventive Care: This is a cornerstone of mobile veterinary services. It includes routine physical examinations, vaccinations (distemper, rabies, etc.), parasite control (heartworm, fleas, ticks, deworming), and nutritional counseling. Regular check-ups in a familiar setting help maintain a pet's long-term health and can catch potential issues early.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment of Illnesses: Mobile vets can diagnose and treat a wide range of common illnesses and injuries. This might involve assessing symptoms, performing basic diagnostic tests (bloodwork, urinalysis, fecal exams), prescribing medications, and administering treatments for conditions like allergies, ear infections, skin problems, gastrointestinal issues, and minor lameness.
  • Pain Management: For pets suffering from chronic pain, particularly senior animals with arthritis or other degenerative conditions, mobile services can provide compassionate pain management strategies, including medication adjustments, injections, and discussions about complementary therapies.
  • Senior Pet Care: As pets age, their healthcare needs become more complex. Mobile vets are ideally suited for senior pet care, offering comfortable at-home exams, managing age-related conditions, and providing palliative care to enhance their quality of life in their twilight years.
  • Hospice Care and At-Home Euthanasia: This is perhaps one of the most significant and compassionate services offered by mobile veterinarians. When it's time to say goodbye, allowing a pet to pass peacefully in their own home, surrounded by loved ones, can significantly reduce distress for both the animal and the family. The vet can provide gentle sedation and humane euthanasia in a familiar, comfortable setting, offering a truly peaceful farewell.
  • Microchipping: A crucial service for pet identification and recovery if lost, microchipping can be conveniently performed at home during a routine visit.
  • Laboratory Services: While complex lab work is sent out, mobile vets can often draw blood, collect urine, and gather other samples for off-site analysis.
  • Basic Grooming and Nail Trims: For pets that find salon visits stressful, a mobile vet can often provide nail trims and other basic grooming services in a calming home environment.

Several features make Veterinary Mobile Services particularly appealing to pet owners. The primary feature is the unparalleled convenience. There's no need to transport a stressed pet, deal with traffic, or spend time in a waiting room. This is especially beneficial for multi-pet households, elderly owners, individuals with limited mobility, or those with busy schedules. Another significant feature is reduced stress for pets. Many animals, especially cats, anxious dogs, or those with mobility issues, find vet visits traumatic. By eliminating the car ride, strange smells, loud noises, and other animals, mobile services significantly reduce anxiety, leading to a calmer pet and a more effective examination. This often results in a more cooperative patient, allowing the vet to perform a more thorough assessment. The personalized attention is another key feature. With house calls, the veterinarian can dedicate more focused time to a single patient without the distractions of a busy clinic. This allows for more in-depth discussions with the owner about their pet's health, behavior, and specific needs. The vet can also observe the pet in its natural habitat, which can provide valuable insights into their overall health and behavior. Furthermore, mobile services often offer flexible scheduling, accommodating appointments outside of traditional clinic hours, making it easier for owners to integrate pet care into their lives. Some services may also offer emergency house calls for non-life-threatening situations, providing timely care when immediate transport to a clinic is difficult or unnecessary. The ability to perform euthanasia at home is a profoundly compassionate service that allows pets to pass away peacefully in familiar surroundings, a crucial feature for many grieving pet owners.

While specific promotional information varies by individual mobile veterinary service providers, common offers and advantages often highlight the value proposition of at-home care. Many mobile vets promote their services by emphasizing the convenience factor, showcasing how they save pet owners time and reduce stress. Introductory offers might include discounts on a first-time house call or a complimentary initial consultation. Package deals for wellness plans, similar to traditional clinics, might be offered, bundling vaccinations, exams, and routine tests at a reduced cost. Some mobile services offer multi-pet discounts for households with several animals, as the travel fee is typically applied per visit rather than per pet. Seasonal promotions might focus on specific preventive care needs, such as discounted heartworm testing in spring or senior pet check-ups in fall. Referral programs, where existing clients receive a discount for referring new ones, are also common. While there isn't a singular "Veterinary Mobile Services" company with nationwide promotions like a large chain, local providers actively use their websites, social media, and local community outreach to advertise their unique benefits. Owners should search for "mobile vet near me" or "veterinary house calls" in their area to find local providers and inquire about their current pricing and promotional offers. Many emphasize transparent pricing, with a clear breakdown of the house call fee and service costs, ensuring pet owners understand the value they are receiving for the added convenience and personalized care.

Very nice gentleman and his assistant is nice also. Very affordable vaccine prices. Very patient with my dog. He always has the flea medicine I like. I found out recently he goes to more than one location. I've been getting my dog's vaccines from them for a few years. Will definitely continue to use his services. I usually go to the location in the parking lot of Theresa's Red Barn on Oxnard, but it's nice to know there are other locations when I miss that day.

I bring my dogs here for their regular vaccine updates. The vets are always very good and helpful with feedback. Prices seem to have gone up quite a bit since I can't get away with spending anything less than $200 for two dogs ..I shudder to think what regular vet clinic prices are at these days which is the main reason why I utilize this service. You do need friendly dogs or the ability to handle your dogs if they don't get along with other dogs since you will be in line with others.
