Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) is the best. I’ve had pets for a long time, including one dog who was a total medical lemon, so I’ve been to many an emergency vet over the years and I’ve now been to VEG three times this year with my crazy puppy (swallowed stuff she shouldn’t have a couple times and most recently a nasty cut at the park). VEG is such a nice change from the normal model. I love being able to stay with my pet the entire time- including being given a pillow and blanket when my dog had to stay overnight. The techs and vet are kind enough to crouch down and work on the floor when my dog lays down to put her head in my lap. It is very clear everyone is focused on making the animals as comfortable as possible- coming to them instead of forcing them onto tables or isolating them in back rooms. I also like being able to see what else is happening- it’s a good reminder that emergency vets have actual emergencies and waiting a bit means your pet isn’t the worst off. Everyone there is always incredibly pleasant, even when dealing with high stress situations. And we have always been seen quickly, with visits being very reasonable for a walk-in emergency. Certainly faster than a human ER. All costs are clearly discussed ahead of time with VEG being really good about working out solutions that work for your budget. Invoices are also emailed promptly and are clearly itemized- making pet insurance claims easy. Overall I’m incredibly glad VEG has come to Houston. It’s a comfort to have a reliable and kind place to go when your pet is sick or hurt.

VEG was great! Our dog ate something and when we called we were treated warmly and professionally. Upon our arrival we were also greeted promptly and warmly. The clinic was extremely clean and the staff was amazing! The nurses were very patient with our dog (who is very scared when he goes to the vet), got on his level and were just so kind to us and to our beloved pup! VEG was up front about the estimated cost before treatment so we could be fully informed. To sum it up: the nurses and doctors at VEG truly care about animals and their owners! We left very impressed.

Thank you for taking such good care of my fur baby, Bentley. When I walked in they knew who we were by name and they took me straight to the back. I liked that everyone was warm and welcoming even though I was a ball of nerves and crying. They explained everything that they would do and allowed me to stay as long as I wanted. Also they called me back or I called and they addressed additional questions that I had. Once we got home we have received text message communication reminding me to call back anytime if I have questions. I would recommend VEG to other families with fur babies who are experiencing a medical emergency

It took me a long time to write this post not because of my experience with the staff but because of loosing the best dog I’ve ever owned . On 01/01/2025 I lost my baby girl Aaliyah to pregnancy complications. I came in with a glimmer of hope but I was too late although distraught the staff helped me consoled me and treated me with the most kindness I wish the rest of the world had. I thank you so much. They sent me a card and everyone signed it and as broken as my heart was it made me smile and gave me some happiness back . So thank you ALEX ,CHYAN , SONNY , MT , KIMBELLE , DANIE, JG and all the staff I’m sorry if I spelled names wrong I was trying to read from the card. Thank you for making a horrible day just a little less horrible you all are angels and I appreciate each and everyone of you. All my love Jeremy ❤️

I can’t say enough good things about Veterinary Emergency Group. Shortly after I got home from a work trip (during which family was watching her), my little Addie girl started vomiting, which escalated into explosive diarrhea. Given that it was her third bout of diarrhea in three months and that thirty hours in she was only getting worse, I decided it was time to head to the emergency vet as it was Friday night and her usual vet would be unlikely to get her in on a weekend. We went to the only emergency vet I knew of near us, but they were unable to take new patients due to an emergency surgery for a critical patient that was taking place. At this point, it was 4 am, I hadn’t slept in 40 hours, and I was terrified for how sick my baby girl was (and given that it was the third time this happened, I was convinced something was really really wrong). I did a quick google search and found VEG, and I called them in tears asking if they were accepting walk ins at the moment. The receptionist who was working overnight (I wish I got her name) was SO kind, calmed me down and reassured me, gave me directions, and told me she’d be waiting at the door for us (which she was). She brought us in where we were greeted by nurse Kaylee, who was so patient and helpful, and Dr. Dodd. They quickly (like, crazy fast!) developed a plan for tests, Dr. Dodd walked me through the different possibilities that came to mind for her, and had me go home for a bit to get a nap in since it was going to take a bit of time (I would usually stay, but we live nearby and I was knocking on death’s door myself at this point). When they called me back, I was so exhausted I accidentally slept through the call despite having my phone on the max volume, and when I called back they walked me through the test results and reassured me Addie was fine. The lovely receptionist who had taken over, Alex, even sent me a photo of Addie sitting on her lap while she worked while I drove back over. Addie was happy and playful again as soon as I walked in thanks to the medication they had given her to settle her tummy. The morning vet tech (whose name I didn’t get) was lovely and nurse Jessie walked me through the test results (thankfully, nothing super serious was going on), the prescription diet that Dr. Dodd recommended Addie be put on as well as a wet food that was being sent home, each of Addie’s medications, and answered all of my questions thoroughly. She even wrote her name down for me in case I needed to call back with questions when we got home. Eighteen hours later and Addie has finally been able to sleep (her tummy was bugging her so much, she couldn’t get any rest), has started playing again, has been able to eat the food she was sent home with, and her diarrhea has improved significantly. I am also SO grateful for Dr. Dodd running all of the tests that she thought might help us get to the bottom of this, as I now have peace of mind that this isn’t being caused by a serious chronic illness, obstruction, etc. and that my little girl is going to be okay. All in all, we had an absolute 10/10 experience at VEG. The doctors, nurses, and staff were absolutely amazing during a low point for both Addie and me. They kept us calm, they were incredibly knowledgeable, and I feel so much better having a treatment plan going forward to hopefully nip these gastro issues in the bud for good. They were also incredibly fast. They were able to start helping Addie right away and the tests were done quite swiftly! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone at VEG. I could not recommend the VEG team enough. Addie and I and the rest of our family are so grateful!!

I recently had to bring my pup, Onyx, to the emergency room after he tore up a leather boot and swallowed the pieces. It was a terrifying experience, but the care and dedication from Dr. Kiel and the entire team made all the difference. Despite an eight-hour stay, they were incredibly compassionate, professional, and thorough. Dr. Kiel took the time to explain every step of the procedure, ensuring Onyx received the best possible care. What truly stood out was the incredible staff and veterinary technicians working there. From the moment we walked in, they treated Onyx with such kindness and patience, always making sure he was as comfortable as possible. Their attentiveness, expertise, and genuine love for animals made a stressful situation so much easier to handle. We have used this emergency clinic before, and every experience has been exceptional. The entire team consistently goes above and beyond, and we would recommend them to anyone without hesitation.
