Our regular vet recommended we take Pretty to VEG if we felt we didn’t want to wait for a regular hours appointment for her to be euthanized. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the treatment both we and Pretty received on short notice. The entire team at VEG from reception, to the tech inserting the catheter to the vet were all wonderful. The setting was so soothing and we got to spend quality time with Pretty before letting her go. Pretty loved her pup bowl and seemed delighted to finally find out what chocolate kisses tasted like (she ate 3 or 4). Everything was explained clearly and compassionately. We felt very well taken care of. We’re so grateful to everyone with whom we interacted and to those behind the scenes who make what could be such a difficult experience bearable.

Our cat went in for an emergency urinary blockage and we were seen immediately to ensure that whatever was absolutely necessary to get done could before managing the emergencies in order of criticalness within the room. We could see everything that was going on with the open layout and the employees were all engaged in providing top notch care at all times. I was so impressed with the efficiency and transparency of this vet. I love the open set-up and the fact that I’m welcome to see my pet at anytime and watch what is being done to them puts my mind at ease. We will definitely be using VEG for our emergency care because of the transparency and integrity displayed.

We had a very scary event with our senior dog Buster and I’m so thankful we took him to Veterinary Emergency Group! He’s been through a lot and has seen a lot of doctors, including quite a few emergency trips. Everyone was calm but urgent and very communicative, which helped ease my fear while they figured out what had happened and how to help our boy. Doctor Reiss had incredible bedside manner and calmly explained her diagnostic process as she examined our boy. The vet techs were so good at handling him when he was very nervous, and helped with my nervousness as well. At all times, I felt like my concerns were taken seriously and that he was thoroughly examined and treated with compassion. I was especially impressed with how they handled triage and ruled out our biggest fears immediately. Buster had previously gone through cancer, chemo, and an extended emergency stay without us being able to come into the room with him and I felt so grateful that I was able to be by his side the entire time we were at VEG. While I hope not to have emergencies that put us back here, I would not hesitate to bring our best boy back if he needs emergency care. I’m so thankful for everyone we encountered and felt comfortable bringing him home with the treatment plan. He is recovering well at home!

We had an ultrasound performed on our 15 yo dog Piper at VEG and received bad news and a poor prognosis. For the next few weeks, trying to schedule an at home euthanasia was near impossible to time correctly and made me so depressed as I waited during the countdown, that I couldn't concentrate on spending quality time with her. I twice canceled in-home appointments when the timing just didn't feel right. I knew one afternoon that Piper was ready and called VEG. They took us within an hour. Piper wouldn't have to suffer as we waited for an at-home opening or availability at her regular vet's office. The staff at VEG created an amazing room for us---water, tissues, soft lighting--and for Piper, a large mat on the floor, blankets, rolled towels. Then Kim brought in the "treat tray"---Piper's name in cheese, whipped cream with mini choc chips, an Oreo, a big meatball! I have never been a part of a more warm, caring and tender end of life experience for my best friend, and sadly we've been through quite a few. As we laid next to Piper, she was relaxed. She licked my face and then she was gone in the compassionate way she deserved. VEG sent a letter of sympathy a few days later and arranged the cremation and delivery of her ashes. Thank you VEG vets and Kim, for caring so deeply for Piper, a dog you didn't know, and for all the animals you see when they are hurt, sick, or ready to go to the rainbow bridge. Hopefully Piper is running on the beach with her brother Dillon, chasing all the balls she can handle and is smiling once again. Thanks for helping her get there so peacefully.

VEG has been so great for all of our veterinary emergencies. They are so patient and kind, and I love that we get to be with our dog every step of the way. The staff at Falls Church is so kind and supportive. They’re always great about answering questions and making sure we are comfortable with care. Thanks a ton for taking good care of our Teton!
