Wonderful staff! We had to say goodbye to our elderly cat when our regular veterinarian's office was closed over the weekend. From the first call, to our arrival, and to letting us say goodbye, they were sympathetic and so sweet and understanding. I was so worried because we are use to our regular veterinarian but we felt confident that we were at a place that cared. *SIDE NOTE: While we were waiting in our car to be seen, a couple arrived with a large elderly dog and we watched the staff shovel a path in the snow and bring out a gurney to help bring the dog inside. We watched as the two employees gently helped the couple get their dog out of the car and into the building. It was then we knew we were in the right place.

Veterinary Emergency Center Introduce

Welcome to the Veterinary Emergency Center, your local Emergency Pet Hospital Near You, located at 115 Chesterfield Ln in Maumee, Ohio. We are a 24-hour emergency veterinary facility dedicated to providing care for pets in urgent situations in the Maumee community and surrounding areas. However, it's important for local users to be aware that online customer reviews present significantly different experiences with our services.

The environment at the Veterinary Emergency Center is described by one customer as sympathetic and understanding, particularly during emotionally difficult times. The staff is noted for their kindness and willingness to go the extra mile to assist pet owners and their animals, such as clearing snow and using a gurney for an elderly dog. However, another customer's experience over the phone suggests a lack of empathy and a dismissive approach to their urgent concerns.

At the Veterinary Emergency Center, our primary service is to provide immediate care for pets facing emergencies. One positive review highlights the compassionate handling of an end-of-life situation. However, a concerning negative review describes a situation where a pet owner's urgent concerns were dismissed over the phone, and they were turned away without their pet being seen. This suggests a potential issue with the initial assessment and triage of emergency cases over the phone. It is crucial to note the discrepancy in these experiences when considering our services for a pet emergency.

A key feature of the Veterinary Emergency Center in Maumee, OH, is its 24-hour availability for pet emergencies. The staff's compassionate care during in-person visits, especially in sensitive situations, is also noteworthy. However, a significant concern raised by a customer is the potential for dismissal of serious concerns during initial phone contact, which may delay necessary care. Local users should be aware of these contrasting experiences and consider their urgency and the nature of their pet's emergency when deciding whether to seek care here.

Currently, there is no specific promotional information available. Given the critical nature of emergency veterinary care and the mixed customer feedback regarding initial phone interactions, local users are advised to be persistent and clear when describing their pet's emergency and to seek immediate in-person evaluation if they have serious concerns.

I just moved to the area from out of state yesterday, which I even told the person on the phone. I've had dogs for my entire life, currently have 4. I know when something isn't right. I explained what's going on and she completely dismissed my concern and said that's not something they deal with. I pushed my concern again and once again dismissed. I said that I'm really concerned if this is what I'm going to have to deal with with having 4 dogs and 9 cats if I have an emergency. She hung up on me. She hung up on me!!! My mind is blown this is so upsetting. Even IF it ended up not being an emergency, I cannot believe a 24hr emergency vet would turn away someone without even seeing them first. If I knew who the persons name was that I spoke with, I'd have included it with my review. Just awful. **I want to add to my original review now that you've responded to my review. My dog was seen by a different vet three later and had to be euthanized. The symptoms I was describing to your staff on the phone was actually some kind of internal rupture, fluid in the lungs and an infection. I knew something wasn't right. I explained this to your staff! The end result likely wouldn't have changed whether he was seen by your practice two days sooner, but it's infuriating and heartbreaking that my dog had to suffer two days longer because my concerns weren't taken seriously and were completely dismissed by your staff. If I ever face another emergency, I will absolutely NOT be considering your practice.

I was incredibly hesitant to come here because I had read negative reviews. As someone who works daily with people in highly emotional situations, I understand some of these concerns that are stated in negative reviews but I went here in what I thought was a life or death emergency on New Years Day. I have a small chihuahua that was attacked by another dog. He was in rough shape, I showed up half way dressed expecting for this place to be closed or turned away, or a variety of other situations because of the reviews I have read, also expected inflated prices, at the time I was willing to endure it all knowing I was doing everything I could for my little buddy, I love him more than I can put into words. I can’t speak for others experiences here, but I was shocked at the absolute compassionate care, quick response, and very reasonable pricing for what they dealt with. I was seen and spoken to with nothing but respect and kindness. I understand not every emergency is the same and not all can be seen, but I had no issues getting my dog seen when the staff saw him and his condition. Working with animals in emergency situations has to be wearing on all those involved, I could not do it. I will be thankful for as long as I live for all those who took care of my dog when I thought I had no options and fully prepared for the worst to happen, and to do so on a holiday, I can’t say enough kind words. Please, if you really think you are in an emergency that needs immediate attention, do not let the negative reviews here dismay you from at least calling or showing up. I was wrong about the impressions I received and I’m glad I was. Thank you, thank you, thank you to all staff.

My dog unfortunately got injured today and was extremely distressed. The Veterinary Emergency Center was able to see her right away and take care of the issue. My partner said our dog was scared and began barking at the vet, but the vet was reassuring, which made him feel better about it. The cost was honestly a lot less than we were expecting, which was a plus for emergency care. We are extremely grateful for you ❤️

All of the staff here are excellent! They treated Pee Wee with kindness and care. They listened to us, and was very understanding about our loss. Shout out to Maranda, she was patient with us, took time to see the pictures on our phone. I would recommend this facility for care of your animal. Thank you.
